Insert for mounting multiple cables in cable hanger
View Patent ↗An insert for mounting multiple cables in a cable hanger includes: a gripping portion configured to engage multiple cables; and a wrapping portion attached to the gripping portion and configured to wrap around the gripping portion as it receives cables.
1. A combination, comprising:
(a) a device for mounting one or more cables, comprising:
a strip having a flat portion that defines a plane and an undulating portion comprising a plurality of undulations, each of the undulations extending in a direction normal above the plane;
a hook attached to the strip;
a plurality of openings in the strip;
wherein the strip is formed into a closed loop, the hook being inserted into one of the plurality of openings to secure the strip into the form of a closed loop; and
(b) at least one cable captured by the device within the closed loop of the device.
2. The device defined in claim 1 , wherein the device is formed as a unitary member.
3. The device defined in claim 1 , wherein the device is formed of a polymeric material.
4. The device defined in claim 1 , wherein the plurality of slots are positioned in the flat portion of the strip.
5. The device defined in claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of the undulations are located within the closed loop.
6. The device defined in claim 1 , wherein the hook extends generally perpendicularly to the flat portion.
7. A combination, comprising:
(a) a device for mounting one or more cables, comprising:
a strip having a flat portion and an undulating portion having a plurality of undulations, each of the undulations extending in a direction normal above the plane defined by the flat portion;
a hook attached to the strip; and
a plurality of openings in the strip,
wherein the strip is formed into a closed loop, the hook being inserted into one of the plurality of openings to secure the strip into the form of a closed loop, the undulations being oriented to extend generally radially; and
(b) at least one cable captured by the device within the closed loop of the device.
