The Hague Apostille Convention — the 1961 Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents — lets member countries accept a single apostille certificate in place of full consular legalization. Of the 196 countries and territories in the list below, 136 accept an apostille and 60 still require consular (embassy) legalization.
