Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how The Patent Place, Inc. ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and services.
1. Information We Collect
- Order and contact information you provide — name, company, email, phone, shipping and billing addresses, reference numbers, and details of the documents you ask us to obtain or legalize.
- Account information if you create an account (login credentials, order history).
- Payment information — payments are processed by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not store full payment-card numbers; we receive limited transaction details (e.g., amount, status, last four digits).
- Communications — emails and messages you send us.
- Usage data — see Analytics & Cookies below.
2. Analytics and Cookies
We use two analytics tools:
- Plausible — a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics service that does not track you across sites or store personal identifiers. It runs by default and does not require consent.
- Google Analytics (GA4) — uses cookies to measure site usage. It loads only if you accept analytics cookies in our cookie banner. If you decline, GA4 is not loaded.
Essential cookies (such as session and security/CSRF cookies) are necessary for the site to function and are always active. You can change your analytics-cookie choice at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer, or through your browser settings.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to provide and fulfill our services (obtain, authenticate, and ship documents), process payments, communicate with you, provide customer support, maintain and improve our website, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
4. How We Share Information
We share information only as needed to run our business: with service providers such as Stripe (payments), FedEx and USPS (shipping), and government authorities such as the USPTO and consulates to fulfill your requests; and where required by law or to protect our rights. We do not sell your personal information.
5. Public Records and the IP Library
Our IP Library displays information drawn from public government records (primarily the USPTO). That information originates from those public sources, and the authoritative record is maintained by the government agency, not by us. If a page in our IP Library displays your information and you would like it removed from our website, contact us at [email protected]; note that removal from our site does not remove the underlying public record maintained by the USPTO.
6. Data Retention
We retain order and document information for as long as needed to provide our services, maintain business and accounting records, and comply with legal obligations.
7. Your Choices and Rights
You can decline analytics cookies via our banner, update your account information, and request access to or deletion of personal information we hold about you by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws; we will honor valid requests to the extent required by law.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
Our website and services are intended for businesses and professionals and are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time; changes are effective when posted with an updated "Last updated" date.
