Abstract

Among other disclosures, a method may include collecting historical communication data and personal data relating to a portion of a plurality of communications, a sender of one or more of the communications or one or more recipients of the communications. The method may include depositing the collected data into a repository of historical communication data and personal data. The method may include presenting one or more items in the repository on a mobile device, in response to user behavior.

Claims (47)

1. A method, comprising:

identifying an automated web service based on a domain name associated with communications sent to a user, the communications comprising a sender address associated with the automated web service and a recipient address associated with the user;

receiving communications sent by the automated web service to the user of a communication device;

automatically generating a profile for the automated web service from data extracted from the communications;

sending a query to a first computing device over a network using the data extracted from the communications in response to receiving a new communication from the automated web service, the query being performed using search criteria including a phone number;

receiving, from the first computing device, second information from a social network profile of the automated web service stored by the first computing device;

updating the profile using the second information; and

enabling presentation of the profile on the communication device in response to a user request on the communication device.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining that the user of the communication device is selecting at least one contact in a list of contacts; and

causing at least one action to occur on the communication device that corresponds to the at least one contact.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the at least one action includes generating a message addressed to the at least one contact.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising presenting information to the user of the communication device from the profile when the user interacts with a piece of information in a user display associated with a service provided by the first computing device.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the presentation includes adapting the profile for display on the communication device.

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the adapting includes identifying a subset of information from the profile to present on the communication device.

7. The method of claim 5 , wherein the adapting includes changing a format of information associated with the profile.

8. The method of claim 5 , wherein the adapting includes ordering information in the profile and presenting the information obtained from the profile in accordance with the ordering.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the receiving the second information comprises receiving a link.

10. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium for tangibly storing computer program instructions capable of being executed by a computer processor, the computer program instructions defining the steps of:

identifying an automated web service based on a domain name associated with communications sent to a user, the communications comprising a sender address associated with the automated web service and a recipient address associated with the user;

receiving communications sent by the automated web service to the user of a communication device;

automatically generating a profile for the automated web service from data extracted from the communications;

sending a query to a first computing device over a network using the data extracted from the communications in response to receiving a new communication from the automated web service, the query being performed using search criteria including a phone number;

receiving, from the first computing device, second information from a social network profile of the automated web service stored by the first computing device;

updating the profile using the second information; and

enabling presentation of the profile on the communication device in response to a user request on the communication device.

11. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 10 , further comprising:

determining that the user of the communication device is selecting at least one contact in a list of contacts; and

causing at least one action to occur on the communication device that corresponds to the at least one contact.

12. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 11 , wherein the at least one action includes generating a message addressed to the at least one contact.

13. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 10 , further comprising presenting information to the user of the communication device from the profile when the user interacts with a piece of information in a user display associated with a service provided by the first computing device.

14. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 10 , wherein the presentation includes adapting the profile for display on the communication device.

15. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 14 , wherein the adapting includes an operation selected from the group consisting of identifying a subset of information from the profile to present on the communication device, changing a format of information associated with the profile, and presenting the information obtained from the profile after ordering information in the profile.

16. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 10 , wherein the receiving the second information comprises receiving a link.

17. An apparatus comprising:

a processor; and

a storage medium for tangibly storing thereon program logic for execution by the processor, the stored program logic causing the processor to perform the operations of:

identifying an automated web service based on a domain name associated with communications sent to a user, the communications comprising a sender address associated with the automated web service and a recipient address associated with the user;

receiving communications sent by the automated web service to the user of a communication device;

automatically generating a profile for the automated web service from data extracted from the communications;

sending a query to a first computing device over a network using the data extracted from the communications in response to receiving a new communication from the automated web service, the query being performed using search criteria including a phone number;

receiving, from the first computing device, second information from a social network profile of the automated web service stored by the first computing device;

updating the profile using the second information; and

enabling presentation of the profile on the communication device in response to a user request on the communication device.

18. The apparatus of claim 17 , the stored program logic further causing the processor to perform the operations of:

determining that the user of the communication device is selecting at least one contact in a list of contacts; and

causing at least one action to occur on the communication device that corresponds to the at least one contact.
