Abstract

Systems and methods for providing security services during a power management mode are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method comprises detecting with a mobile security system a wake event on a mobile device, providing from the mobile security system a wake signal, the providing being in response to the wake event to wake a mobile device from a power management mode, and managing with the mobile security system security services of the mobile device. Managing security services may comprise scanning a hard drive of the mobile devices for viruses and/or other malware. Managing security services may also comprise updating security applications or scanning the mobile device for unauthorized data.

Claims (26)

1. A security system, comprising:

a security system processor;

a communication interface for communicating with a mobile device, the mobile device having a mobile device processor separate and remote from the security system processor; and

a security engine configured to detect a wake event associated with the mobile device, provide a wake signal to the mobile device in response to the wake event, the wake signal configured to wake the mobile device from a power management mode, the power management mode consisting of a sleep mode or hibernation mode, and execute security instructions to perform security services on behalf of the mobile device after waking the mobile device from the power management mode, the security instructions being stored on the mobile security system, the security services consisting of firewall services, antivirus services or malicious content filtering.

2. The security system of claim 1 , wherein security services comprises a scanning of a hard drive of the mobile device for viruses.

3. The security system of claim 1 , wherein security services comprises a scanning of a hard drive of the mobile device for malware.

4. The security system of claim 1 , wherein security services comprises a scanning of the mobile device for unauthorized data.

5. The security system of claim 4 , wherein the scanning of the mobile device for unauthorized data comprises a scanning of the mobile device for unauthorized data based on a security policy.

6. The security system of claim 1 , wherein the wake event comprises an expiration of a predetermined period of time.

7. The security system of claim 1 , wherein the wake event comprises a specific time of day.

8. The security system of claim 1 , wherein the wake event comprises receiving data from over network.

9. The security system of claim 1 , wherein the security system is connected to the mobile device via a wired connection.

10. The security system of claim 1 , wherein the security system is connected to the mobile device via a wireless connection.

11. A method comprising:

detecting, using a security system, a wake event associated with a mobile device, the security system having a security system processor separate and remote from a mobile device processor of the mobile device;

providing, using the security system, a wake signal in response to the wake event to the mobile device, the wake signal configured to wake the mobile device from a power management mode, the power management mode consisting of a sleep mode or hibernation mode; and

executing security instructions, using the security system, to perform security services on behalf of the mobile device after waking the mobile device from the power management mode, the security instructions being stored on the security system, the security services consisting of firewall services, antivirus services or malicious content filtering.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the security services comprises a scanning of a hard drive of the mobile device for viruses.

13. The method of claim 11 , wherein the security services comprises a scanning of a hard drive of the mobile device for malware.

14. The method of claim 11 , wherein the security services comprises a scanning of the mobile device for unauthorized data.

15. The method of claim 14 , wherein the scanning of the mobile device for unauthorized data comprises a scanning of the mobile device for unauthorized data based on a security policy.

16. The method of claim 11 , wherein the wake event comprises an expiration of a predetermined period of time.

17. The method of claim 11 , wherein the wake event comprises a specific time of day.

18. The method of claim 11 , wherein the wake event comprises receiving data from over network.

19. The method of claim 11 , wherein the security system is connected to the mobile device via a wired connection.

20. The method of claim 11 , wherein the security system is connected to the mobile device via a wireless connection.
