Abstract

A system that tracks the funding source of an amount of funds as the funds are transferred between various accounts or balances of various components of the system.

Claims (31)

1. A system comprising:

a processor; and

a memory device that stores a plurality of instructions that, when executed by processor responsive to a request of a transfer of an amount of funds from a first account associated with a gaming establishment to a second account, cause the processor to:

determine if the amount of funds is associated with an electronic fund transfer from a financial account, and

responsive to the determination being that the amount of funds is associated with the electronic fund transfer from the financial account and the financial account is different from the second account, deny the transfer of the amount of funds to the second account.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the financial account comprises a bank account.

3. The system of claim 2 , wherein the bank account is maintained independent of the first account associated with the gaming establishment.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the memory device stores a plurality of further instructions that when executed by the processor responsive to the determination being that the amount of funds is associated with the electronic fund transfer from the financial account and the financial account comprises the second account, cause the processor to approve the transfer of the amount of funds to the second account.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein responsive to the amount of funds comprising an amount of winnings from an electronic gaming machine, the amount of funds is not associated with the electronic fund transfer from the financial account.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein responsive the amount of funds comprising an amount of winnings from a wager placed on an outcome of a sporting event, the amount of funds is not associated with the electronic fund transfer from the financial account.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein responsive to the amount of funds comprising an amount of winnings from a wager placed at a gaming table, the amount of funds is not associated with the electronic fund transfer from the financial account.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the memory device stores a plurality of further instructions that when executed by the processor responsive to the determination being that the amount of funds is associated with the electronic fund transfer from the financial account and the financial account is different from the second account, cause the processor to communicate data which results in a display device displaying a notification associated with the denied transfer.

9. A system comprising:

a processor; and

a memory device that stores a plurality of instructions that, when executed by processor responsive to a transfer of an amount of funds to a first gaming establishment account, cause the processor to:

determine if the amount of funds transferred to the first gaming establishment account is associated with an electronic fund transfer from a financial account, and

responsive to the determination being that the amount of funds transferred to the first gaming establishment account is associated with the electronic fund transfer from the financial account and responsive to a transfer of at least a portion of the amount of funds from the first gaming establishment account to a second gaming establishment account, designate the portion of the amount of funds held in the second gaming establishment account as being associated with the electronic fund transfer from the financial account.

10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the financial account comprises a bank account.

11. The system of claim 10 , wherein the bank account is maintained independent of the first gaming establishment account.

12. The system of claim 9 , wherein the memory device stores a plurality of further instructions that when executed by the processor responsive to the determination being that the amount of funds transferred to the first gaming establishment account is associated with the electronic fund transfer from the financial account and responsive to a transfer of at least a portion of the amount of funds from the first gaming establishment account to a credit balance of an electronic gaming machine, cause the processor to designate the portion of the amount of funds transferred to the credit balance of the electronic gaming machine as being associated with the electronic fund transfer from the financial account.

13. A method of operating a system, the method comprising:

responsive to a request of a transfer of an amount of funds from a first account associated with a gaming establishment to a second account:

determining, by a processor, if the amount of funds is associated with an electronic fund transfer from a financial account, and

responsive to the determination being that the amount of funds is associated with the electronic fund transfer from the financial account and the financial account is different from the second account, denying, by the processor, the transfer of the amount of funds to the second account.

14. The method of claim 13 , wherein the financial account comprises a bank account.

15. The method of claim 13 , wherein the bank account is maintained independent of the first account associated with the gaming establishment.

16. The method of claim 13 , further comprising, responsive to the determination being that the amount of funds is associated with the electronic fund transfer from the financial account and the financial account comprises the second account, approving, by the processor, the transfer of the amount of funds to the second account.

17. The method of claim 13 , wherein responsive to the amount of funds comprising an amount of winnings from an electronic gaming machine, the amount of funds is not associated with the electronic fund transfer from the financial account.

18. The method of claim 13 , wherein responsive the amount of funds comprising an amount of winnings from a wager placed on an outcome of a sporting event, the amount of funds is not associated with the electronic fund transfer from the financial account.

19. The method of claim 13 , wherein responsive to the amount of funds comprising an amount of winnings from a wager placed at a gaming table, the amount of funds is not associated with the electronic fund transfer from the financial account.

20. The method of claim 13 , further comprising, responsive to the determination being that the amount of funds is associated with the electronic fund transfer from the financial account and the financial account is different from the second account, displaying, by a display device, a notification associated with the denied transfer.
