Abstract

Gaming systems and methods that utilize a dynamic indicator to indicate one or more awards of one or more sections of an award generator.

Claims (38)

1 . A method of operating a gaming system, the method comprising:

displaying, by a display device, an award generator comprising a plurality of different levels, each different level comprises a plurality of sections, wherein at least one of the sections of each different level is statically associated with a displayed award component,

for a first play of a game:

displaying, by the display device, a first configuration of an indicator of the award generator, wherein the first configuration of the indicator comprises a first quantity of indicated sections of the award generator including a first quantity of non-adjacent open sections of a first single level of the award generator each being indicated, and

displaying, by the display device and as a result of the displayed first configuration of the indicator of the award generator, a first award, wherein the first award is based on any displayed award component statically associated with the first quantity of indicated sections of the award generator, and

for a second play of the game:

displaying, by the display device, a second, different configuration of the indicator of the award generator, wherein the second configuration of the indicator comprises a second, different quantity of indicated sections of the award generator including a second, different quantity of non-adjacent open sections of a second single level of the award generator each being indicated, and

displaying, by the display device and as a result of the displayed second, different configuration of the indicator of the award generator, a second award, wherein the second award is based on any displayed award component statically associated with the second, different quantity of indicated sections of the award generator.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first single level of the award generator and the second single level of the award generator are different levels of the award generator.

3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising, for a third play of the game:

displaying, by the display device, a third, different configuration of the indicator of the award generator, wherein the third configuration of the indicator comprises the first quantity of indicated sections of the award generator including the second, different quantity of non-adjacent open sections of the second single level of the award generator each being indicated, and

displaying, by the display device and as a result of the displayed third, different configuration of the indicator of the award generator, a third award, wherein the third award is based on any displayed award components statically associated with the first quantity of indicated sections of the award generator.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising, for a third play of the game:

displaying, by the display device, a third, different configuration of the indicator of the award generator, wherein the third configuration of the indicator comprises a third, different quantity of indicated sections of the award generator including the first quantity of non-adjacent open sections of the first single level of the award generator each being indicated, and

displaying, by the display device and as a result of the displayed third, different configuration of the indicator of the award generator, a third award, wherein the third award is based on any displayed award components statically associated with the third quantity of indicated sections of the award generator.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein a level of the plurality of levels of the award generator comprises a plurality of closed sections.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first quantity of sections of the award generator comprises at least two sections of two levels of the award generator.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the displayed award component statically associated with a first section of one level of the award generator comprises a value and the displayed award component statically associated with a first section of another level of the award generator comprises a multiplier.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of levels of the award generator comprise a plurality of concentric wheels.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first quantity of sections of the award generator form a path that terminates at one of a plurality of closed sections.

10 . A method of operating a gaming system, the method comprising:

responsive to an occurrence of a triggering event:

displaying, by a display device, an award generator comprising a plurality of levels, each level comprises a plurality of sections, wherein at least one of the sections of each level is statically associated with a displayed award component,

displaying, by the display device, a random orientation of each of the plurality of levels of the award generator, and

displaying, by the display device and as a result of the displayed random orientation of each of the plurality of levels of the award generator, an award based on the displayed award components statically associated with any indicated open sections of different levels of the award generator being aligned in accordance with the random orientation of those different levels, wherein the indicated open sections comprise a first open section of a first level of the plurality of levels that is aligned with a first open section of a second level of the plurality of levels that is aligned with a second open section of the first level of the plurality of levels and the first open section of the first level of the plurality of levels is non-adjacent to the second open section of the first level of the plurality of levels.

11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein a level of the plurality of levels of the award generator comprises a plurality of closed sections.

12 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the indicated open sections form a path that terminates at a closed section of one of the levels of the award generator.

13 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the indicated open sections of the award generator comprise at least two sections of the second level of the award generator.

14 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the displayed award component statically associated with a section of a level of the plurality of levels of the award generator comprises a value and the displayed award component statically associated with a section of another level of the plurality of levels of the award generator comprises a multiplier.

15 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the plurality of levels of the award generator comprise a plurality of concentric wheels.

16 . A method of operating a gaming system, the method comprising:

displaying, by a display device, an award generator comprising a plurality of levels, each level comprises a plurality of sections, wherein at least one of the sections of each level is statically associated with a displayed award component,

displaying, by the display device, an orientation of each of the plurality of levels of the award generator, and

displaying, by the display device and as a result of the orientation of each of the plurality of levels of the award generator, an award based on the displayed award components statically associated with any indicated open sections of different levels of the award generator, wherein the indicated open sections comprise a first open section of a first level of the plurality of levels, a second open section of the first level of the plurality of levels that is non-adjacent to the first open section of the first level of the plurality of levels, and a first open section of a second level of the plurality of levels.

17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the indicated open sections form a path that terminates at a closed section.

18 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the indicated open sections of the award generator comprise at least two open sections of the second level of the award generator.

19 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the displayed award components statically associated with a section of a level of the plurality of levels of the award generator comprises a value and the displayed award components statically associated with a section of another level of the plurality of levels of the award generator comprises a multiplier.

20 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the plurality of levels of the award generator comprise a plurality of concentric wheels.
