Abstract

Bed sheet retention systems, and system components are disclosed, and are useful for securing a bed sheet to a mattress. Methods of making and using bed sheet retention systems, and system components are also disclosed.

Claims (28)

1 . A bed sheet retention system for securing one or more bed sheets to a bed, said bed sheet retention system comprising:

(I) one or more corner brackets, each of the one or more corner brackets comprising (A) a horizontally-extending bracket component sized and designed to extend between a bottom surface of a mattress and a support surface under the bottom surface, (B) one or more bracket side wall surfaces that extend vertically along two adjacent side surfaces of the mattress when in use, and (C) one or more sheet-engaging components positioned along the one or more bracket side wall surfaces; and

(II) one or more sheet locking components, each of the one or more sheet locking components being sized and designed to engage with the one or more sheet-engaging components so as to secure the bed sheet (1) between (i) the one or more sheet-engaging components, and (ii) the one or more sheet locking components, and (2) within a channel track profile of the bed sheet retention system, the channel track profile (a) extending along (i) the one or more bracket side wall surfaces of the one or more corner brackets, or (ii) an outer surface of the one or more sheet locking components, and (b) having a channel track profile height H TP that is greater than a channel track profile width W TP , and a channel track profile length L TP that is greater than the channel track profile height H TP ;

wherein each of the one or more corner brackets is separate from and combinable with the mattress so as to cover at least a portion of the two adjacent side surfaces of the mattress, and

wherein the one or more sheet-engaging components (1) comprise two of the sheet-engaging components (i) separated from one another by a corner of the corner bracket, and (ii) oriented perpendicularly to one another, and (2) extend within a plane P parallel with said horizontally-extending bracket component or at an angle A to the plane P parallel with said horizontally-extending bracket component.

The bed sheet retention system of claim 1 , wherein (i) the channel track profile length L TP of is from about 2.5 inches (in) to about 67.5 in, (ii) the channel track profile height H TP is from about 0.3 in to about 3.0 in, and (iii) the channel track profile width W TP is from about 0.1 in to about 1.5 in.

The bed sheet retention system of claim 1 , wherein said channel track profile has a cross-sectional shape at a given point along the channel track profile length L TP , said cross-sectional shape being a cross-sectional rectangular shape, a cross-sectional rectangular shape with rounded corners, a cross-sectional pill shape, or a cross-sectional oval shape.

4 . The bed sheet retention system of claim 3 , wherein the channel track profile has the cross-sectional rectangular shape, or the cross-sectional pill shape.

5 . The bed sheet retention system of claim 1 , wherein the channel track profile has a cross-sectional shape in which the channel track profile height H TP is two times greater than the channel track profile width W TP of the channel track profile.

6 . The bed sheet retention system of claim 1 , wherein the channel track profile has a cross-sectional shape that is symmetrical along opposite sides of a channel dissecting line L D extending vertically through the channel track profile.

The bed sheet retention system of claim 1 , wherein the channel track profile is bound by (i) an inner surface of an upper channel side wall, (ii) an inner surface of a lower channel side wall, (iii) an inner surface of an upper strip engaging member, (iv) an inner surface portion of a gap between said upper strip engaging member and a lower strip engaging member, (v) an inner surface of said lower strip engaging member, and (vi) an inner surface opposite said gap.

The bed sheet retention system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more sheet-engaging components comprise one or more sheet-engaging strips/male track components connected to the one or more bracket side wall surfaces, wherein said one or more sheet-engaging strip/male track components are designed to engage with the one or more sheet locking components, and the one or more sheet locking components comprise one or more sheet locking strips/female clip components.

The bed sheet retention system of claim 8 , wherein each of the one or more sheet locking strip/female clip components comprises one or more sheet-engaging channels, and each of the one or more sheet-engaging channels comprises (i) an upper sheet-locking channel member, and (ii) a lower sheet-locking channel member positioned below and spaced from said upper sheet-locking channel member, wherein each of said upper sheet-locking channel member and said lower sheet-locking channel member are designed to engage with the one or more sheet-engaging strips/male track components, and together provide the channel track profile of the bed sheet retention system.

10 . A bed sheet retention system for securing one or more bed sheets to a bed, said bed sheet retention system comprising:

(I) one or more corner brackets, each of the one or more corner brackets (A) is separate from and combinable with a mattress so as to cover at least a portion of two adjacent side surfaces of the mattress, and (B) comprises (i) a horizontally-extending bracket component sized and designed to extend between a bottom surface of the mattress and a support surface under the bottom surface, (ii) one or more bracket side walls that extend from said horizontally-extending bracket component to an upper rim of said corner bracket, and (iii) one or more sheet-engaging components positioned along the one or more bracket side walls, said one or more sheet-engaging components comprising (i) a first sheet-engaging strip/male track component extending in a first direction d F along said corner bracket, and (ii) a second sheet-engaging strip/male track component extending in a second direction d S along said corner bracket, said second direction d S being perpendicular to and in plane P with said first direction d F ; and

(II) one or more sheet locking strips/female clip components, each of the one or more sheet locking strip/female clip components comprising one or more sheet-engaging channels, and each of the one or more sheet-engaging channels comprises (i) an upper sheet-locking channel member, and (ii) a lower sheet-locking channel member positioned below and spaced from said upper sheet-locking channel member, wherein each of said upper sheet-locking channel member and said lower sheet-locking channel member are designed to engage with the one or more sheet-engaging components.

11 . The bed sheet retention system of claim 10 , wherein each of the one or more sheet-engaging components has a strip width W S′ of from about 0.5 in to about 1.5 in, a strip thickness T S′ of from about 0.05 in to about 0.10 in, and a strip length L S′ of from about 4.0 in to about 18.0 in.

The bed sheet retention system of claim 10 , wherein each of the one or more sheet-locking strip/female clip components has a sheet-locking strip/female clip component width W FC of from about 0.5 in to about 6.0 in, a sheet-locking strip/female clip component thickness T FC of from about 0.05 in to about 1.0 in, and a sheet-locking strip/female clip component length L FC of from about 1.0 in to about 18.0 in.

The bed sheet retention system of claim 10 , wherein said upper sheet-locking channel member and said lower sheet-locking channel member are designed to engage with the one or more sheet-engaging components so as to secure the bed sheet (1) between (i) the one or more sheet-engaging components, and (ii) the one or more sheet locking strips/female clip components, and (2) within a channel track profile of the one or more sheet locking strip/female clip components, the channel track profile having a channel track profile height H TP that is greater than a channel track profile width W TP , and a channel track profile length L TP that is greater than the channel track profile height H TP .

14 . A bed sheet retention system for securing one or more bed sheets to a bed, said bed sheet retention system comprising:

(I) one or more corner brackets, each of the one or more corner brackets (A) is separate from and combinable with a mattress so as to cover at least a portion of two adjacent side surfaces of the mattress, and (B) comprises (a) a horizontally-extending bracket component sized and designed to extend between a bottom surface of the mattress and a support surface under the bottom surface, (b) one or more bracket side walls that extend from said horizontally-extending bracket component to an upper rim of said corner bracket, and (c) one or more sheet-engaging components positioned along the one or more bracket side walls, said one or more sheet-engaging components (1) comprising two of the sheet-engaging components (i) separated from one another by a corner of the corner bracket, and (ii) oriented perpendicularly to one another, and (2) extend substantially within a plane P parallel with said horizontally-extending bracket component or at an angle A to the plane P parallel with said horizontally-extending bracket component,

wherein each of the one or more sheet-engaging components comprises (i) an upper sheet-engaging component extending upward along the one or more bracket side walls, and (ii) a lower sheet-engaging component extending downward along the one or more bracket side walls, the lower sheet-engaging component being positioned below said upper sheet-engaging component, wherein each of said upper sheet-engaging component and said lower sheet-engaging component are designed to engage with one or more sheet locking components; and

(II) the one or more sheet locking components, each of the sheet locking component comprising (i) an upper sheet locking member, and (ii) a lower sheet locking member positioned below and spaced from said upper sheet locking member, wherein each of said upper sheet locking member and said lower sheet locking member are designed to engage with the one or more sheet-engaging components so as to secure the bed sheet between (i) the one or more sheet-engaging components, and (ii) the one or more sheet locking components.

15 . The bed sheet retention system of claim 14 , wherein each of the one or more sheet-engaging components comprises a sheet-engaging strip/male track component, and each of the one or more sheet locking components comprises a sheet locking strip/female clip component.

16 . The bed sheet retention system of claim 15 , wherein each of the one or more sheet-engaging components has a strip width W S′ of from about 0.5 in to about 1.5 in, a strip thickness T S′ of from about 0.05 in to about 0.10 in, and a strip length L S′ of from about 4.0 in to about 18.0 in.

The bed sheet retention system of claim 15 , wherein each of the one or more sheet locking components has a sheet locking strip/female clip component width W FC of from about 0.5 in to about 6.0 in, a sheet locking strip/female clip component thickness T FC of from about 0.05 in to about 1.0 in, and a sheet locking strip/female clip component length L FC of from about 1.0 in to about 18.0 in.

The bed sheet retention system of claim 15 , wherein each of the one or more sheet locking components is sized and designed to engage with the one or more sheet-engaging components so as to secure the bed sheet (1) between (i) the one or more sheet-engaging components, and (ii) the one or more sheet locking components, and (2) within a channel track profile of the one or more sheet locking components, the channel track profile having a channel track profile height H TP that is greater than a channel track profile width W TP , and a channel track profile length L TP that is greater than the channel track profile height H TP .

The bed sheet retention system of claim 14 , wherein (i) the upper sheet locking member of the sheet locking component extends over and engages with the upper sheet-engaging component of the corner bracket, and (ii) the lower sheet locking member of the sheet locking component extends over and engages with the lower sheet-engaging component of the corner bracket.
