Abstract

A guide for a bone cut comprises a guide base having an inner wall defining an opening. The inner wall has a plurality of detents distributed around the opening. The guide base has a proximal surface adapted to contact a skin of a person. An inner collar has one or more spring loaded devices extending outward from the inner collar in opposite directions. The inner collar is mountable with the spring loaded devices fitting within one or more of the plurality of detents. The inner collar has an inner wall defining a bore for receiving a cutting tool. The inner collar is configured to pivot the cutting tool about an axis, for cutting a bone. The axis lies along or parallel to a line along which the spring loaded devices lie.

Claims (27)

1 . A guide for an osteotomy, comprising:

a circular body including at least one outer circular groove on an outer side surface;

a first ring having an inner diameter adapted to fit around the at least one outer circular groove;

a first arm and a second arm extending radially away from the circular body, at least one of the first arm or second arm being movable relative to the other of the first arm or second arm to vary an angle between the first arm and the second arm, wherein the first arm extends radially from the first ring;

a sleeve concentrically arranged inside the body, the sleeve having an inner surface defining a bore through the sleeve, the bore adapted to receive a cutting or grinding tool therethrough.

2 . The guide of claim 1 , further comprising a second ring having an inner diameter thereof adapted to fit around the at least one outer circular groove, the second arm extending radially from the second ring, wherein each of the first ring and second ring are rotatable to move the first arm or second arm respectively.

3 . The guide of claim 1 , wherein the sleeve has a pair of projections extending from an outer circumference and the circular body has an inner circular groove on an inner surface for receiving the pair of projections of the sleeve, such that the sleeve is rotatable within the inner circular groove, and the sleeve is configured to pivot around the pair of projections.

4 . A guide for an osteotomy, comprising:

a circular body having at least one outer circular groove on an outer side surface, with a first ring having an inner diameter adapted to fit around the at least one outer circular groove, a first arm and a second arm extending radially away from the circular body, at least one of the first arm and the second arm being movable so that one arm is movable relative to another so as to vary an angle between the first arm and the second arm wherein the first arm extending radially from the first ring;

a sleeve concentrically arranged inside the body, the sleeve having an inner surface defining a bore through the sleeve, the bore adapted to receive a cutting or grinding tool therethrough.

5 . The guide of claim 4 , further comprising a second ring having an inner diameter adapted to fit around the at least one outer circular groove, the second arm extending radially from the second ring, wherein each of the first ring and second ring are rotatable to move the first arm or second arm.

6 . The guide of claim 4 , wherein the sleeve has a pair of projections extending from an outer circumference and the circular body has an inner circular groove on an inner surface for receiving the pair of projections of the sleeve, such that the sleeve is rotatable within the inner circular groove and is configured to pivot around the pair of projections.

7 . An osteotomy guide comprising:

a circular body;

a first arm and a second arm extending radially away from the circular body, at least one of the first arm and the second arm being movable relative to the other to vary an angle between the first arm and the second arm; and

a sleeve concentrically arranged inside the circular body, the sleeve having an inner surface defining a bore adapted to receive a cutting or grinding tool therethrough, wherein the circular body has an inner circular groove and the sleeve includes a pair of projections retained within the inner circular groove such that the sleeve is rotatable about a central axis and pivotable about an axis passing through the pair of projections.

8 . The osteotomy guide of claim 7 , wherein the circular body has at least one outer circular groove on an outer side surface, and further including a first ring having an inner diameter adapted to fit around the outer circular groove, the first arm extending radially from the first ring.

9 . The osteotomy guide of claim 7 , further comprising a second ring having an inner diameter adapted to fit around the outer circular groove, the second arm extending radially from the second ring, wherein each of the first ring and the second ring is rotatable to move the respective arm.

10 . The osteotomy guide of claim 7 , further comprising a first marker extending radially from a first ring opposite the first arm and a second marker extending radially from a second ring opposite the second arm.

11 . The osteotomy guide of claim 10 , wherein the sleeve is alignable such that a selected one of the first arm and the second arm is oriented 90 degrees from each of the projections before pivoting the sleeve about the axis passing through the projections.

12 . The osteotomy guide of claim 7 , wherein at least one of the first arm, the second arm, and the sleeve comprises a radiopaque material.

13 . The osteotomy guide of claim 7 , wherein the circular body comprises a distal annular portion having a T-shaped cross-section and a proximal annular portion in the form of an annular disk.

14 . The osteotomy guide of claim 7 , wherein the inner circular groove is formed by an inner channel of the circular body and the projections comprise pegs of the sleeve retained within the inner channel.

15 . The osteotomy guide of claim 14 , wherein the distal annular portion and the proximal annular portion are joined to enclose the projections in the inner circular groove and to retain the first arm and the second arm in the outer circular groove.

16 . The osteotomy guide of claim 7 , wherein an annular clearance is defined between an outer diameter of the sleeve and an inner diameter of the circular body to permit pivoting of the sleeve about the axis passing through the projections and to limit a maximum tilt angle.

17 . The osteotomy guide of claim 7 , wherein the sleeve is rotatable about a central longitudinal axis within the circular body and pivotable about an axis defined by the projections.

18 . The osteotomy guide of claim 7 , wherein the circular body includes a pressure-sensitive adhesive on a proximal surface portion adapted to adhere the guide to tissue.
