Abstract

Methods may involve maintaining a first secure, distributed transaction ledger including a digital inventory of product designs for industrial products. A second secure, distributed transaction ledger including a digital record of an entity's physical inventory of industrial products may be maintained. The second secure, distributed transaction ledger may be synced with a remote copy. A third secure, distributed transaction ledger including a digital record of precursors for manufacturing the product designs in the digital inventory may be maintained. The first, second, and third secure, distributed transaction ledgers may be interrelated and updated to associate digital records of at least some industrial products in the physical inventory of the second secure, distributed transaction ledger with corresponding product designs in the digital inventory of the first secure, distributed transaction ledger and digital records of corresponding precursors in the third secure, distributed transaction ledger.

Claims (71)

1 . A system, comprising:

a memory device storing instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:

maintain a first secure, distributed transaction ledger comprising a digital inventory of product designs for industrial products;

maintain a second secure, distributed transaction ledger comprising a digital record of an entity's physical inventory of the industrial products;

sync the second secure, distributed transaction ledger with a remote copy of the second secure, distributed transaction ledger via a network;

maintain a third secure, distributed transaction ledger comprising a digital record of precursors for manufacturing the product designs in the digital inventory of the first secure, distributed transaction ledger;

interrelate and update the first, second, and third secure, distributed transaction ledgers to associate digital records of at least some industrial products in the physical inventory of the second secure, distributed transaction ledger with corresponding product designs in the digital inventory of the first secure, distributed transaction ledger and digital records of corresponding precursors in the third secure, distributed transaction ledger for end-to-end verification of sourcing and design for the at least some industrial products; and

send operational parameters to enable an additive manufacturing device to manufacture at least one of the industrial products, the operational parameters being sent for manufacturing as discrete packets, at least one packet being sent only after receipt of confirmation that at least another previous packet is complete and associated operational parameters for the at least another previous packet have been deleted;

the operational parameters configured to produce a randomized variation in one or more physical characteristics in one or more portions of the at least one of the industrial products, the operational parameters comprising one or more of material feed rate, material dispenser position, material dispenser movement rate, position of applied heat, and intensity of applied heat, the one or more physical characteristics comprising one or more of density, surface roughness, and distribution of different materials.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the memory device stores instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:

maintain the first secure, distributed transaction ledger by maintaining a first blockchain comprising the first secure, distributed transaction ledger;

maintain the second secure, distributed transaction ledger by maintaining a second, discrete blockchain comprising the second secure, distributed transaction ledger;

maintain the third secure, distributed transaction ledger by maintaining a third, discrete blockchain comprising the third secure, distributed transaction ledger; and

interrelate the first, second, and third secure, distributed transaction ledgers utilizing secure, encrypted links between respective blocks of the first blockchain, the second, discrete blockchain, and the third, discrete blockchain.

3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the memory device stores instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:

maintain the first secure, distributed transaction ledger by maintaining a first blockchain comprising the first secure, distributed transaction ledger;

maintain the second secure, distributed transaction ledger by maintaining the first blockchain comprising the second secure, distributed transaction ledger, blocks of the first blockchain in the first secure, distributed transaction ledger being discrete from blocks of the first blockchain in the second secure, distributed transaction ledger;

maintain the third secure, distributed transaction ledger by maintaining the first blockchain comprising the third secure, distributed transaction ledger, blocks of the first blockchain in the third secure, distributed transaction ledger being discrete from blocks of the first blockchain in the first secure, distributed transaction ledger and in the second secure, distributed transaction ledger; and

interrelate the first, second, and third secure, distributed transaction ledgers utilizing secure, encrypted links between respective blocks of the first blockchain.

4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the memory device stores instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:

grant selective access to identification of product designs in the first secure, distributed transaction ledger only upon receipt of an encrypted, secure identifier.

5 . The system of claim 4 , wherein the memory device stores instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:

grant selective access to an identifier comprising a name, a recommended use case, a line drawing, a three-dimensional surface model, a complete three-dimensional model, a partial specification, or a full specification, or any combination of these identifiers of product designs in the first secure, distributed transaction ledger, depending on an indication of access rights associated with the encrypted, secure identifier.

6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the memory device stores instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:

maintain a plurality of second secure, distributed transaction ledgers comprising respective digital records of a plurality of entities' respective physical inventories of industrial products;

sync the plurality of second secure, distributed transaction ledgers with respective remote copies of the plurality of second secure, distributed transaction ledgers via a network; and

interrelate and update the first, plurality of second, and third secure, distributed transaction ledgers to associate respective digital records of at least some industrial products in the respective physical inventories of the plurality of second secure, distributed transaction ledgers with corresponding product designs in the digital inventory of the first secure, distributed transaction ledger and digital records of corresponding precursors in the third secure, distributed transaction ledger for end-to-end verification of sourcing and design for the at least some industrial products.

7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the memory device stores instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:

send other operational parameters to enable the additive manufacturing device to manufacture a witness mass of a same material as at least a portion of the industrial product before manufacturing the at least one of the industrial products.

8 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the memory device stores instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:

send the other operational parameters to enable the additive manufacturing device to manufacture the witness mass such that the witness mass has a same randomized variation in one or more physical characteristics in one or more portions of the witness mass as the randomized variation in the one or more physical characteristics in the one or more portions of the at least one of the industrial products.

9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the memory device stores instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:

update the first secure, distributed transaction ledger with a version history for at least one of the product designs for industrial products; and

interrelate and update the first, second, and third secure, distributed transaction ledgers to associate a version of the at least one of the product designs within the version history in the first secure, distributed transaction ledger with corresponding industrial products in the physical inventory of the second secure, distributed transaction ledger and digital records of corresponding precursors in the third secure, distributed transaction ledger matching the version.

10 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the memory device stores instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:

maintain a fourth secure, distributed transaction ledger comprising a digital record of post-manufacturing use of at least some of the industrial products in the second secure, distributed transaction ledger; and

interrelate and update the first, second, third, and fourth secure, distributed transaction ledgers to associate digital records of at least some industrial products in the physical inventory of the second secure, distributed transaction ledger with corresponding product designs in the digital inventory of the first secure, distributed transaction ledger, digital records of corresponding precursors in the third secure, distributed transaction ledger, and digital records of post-manufacturing use in the fourth secure, distributed transaction ledger for end-to-end verification of sourcing, design, and use for the at least some industrial products.

11 . A method, comprising:

maintaining a first secure, distributed transaction ledger comprising a digital inventory of product designs for industrial products;

maintaining a second secure, distributed transaction ledger comprising a digital record of an entity's physical inventory of the industrial products;

syncing the second secure, distributed transaction ledger with a remote copy of the second secure, distributed transaction ledger via a network;

maintaining a third secure, distributed transaction ledger comprising a digital record of precursors for manufacturing the product designs in the digital inventory of the first secure, distributed transaction ledger;

interrelating and updating the first, second, and third secure, distributed transaction ledgers to associate digital records of at least some industrial products in the physical inventory of the second secure, distributed transaction ledger with corresponding product designs in the digital inventory of the first secure, distributed transaction ledger and digital records of corresponding precursors in the third secure, distributed transaction ledger for end-to-end verification of sourcing and design for the at least some industrial products; and

sending operational parameters to enable an additive manufacturing device to manufacture at least one of the industrial products, the operational parameters being sent for manufacturing as discrete packets, at least one packet being sent only after receipt of confirmation that at least another previous packet is complete and associated operational parameters for the at least another previous packet have been deleted;

the operational parameters configured to produce a randomized variation in one or more physical characteristics in one or more portions of the at least one of the industrial products-, the operational parameters comprising one or more of material feed rate, material dispenser position, material dispenser movement rate, position of applied heat, and intensity of applied heat, the one or more physical characteristics comprising one or more of density, surface roughness, and distribution of different materials.

12 . The method of claim 11 , comprising:

maintaining the first secure, distributed transaction ledger by maintaining a first blockchain comprising the first secure, distributed transaction ledger;

maintaining the second secure, distributed transaction ledger by maintaining a second, discrete blockchain comprising the second secure, distributed transaction ledger;

maintaining the third secure, distributed transaction ledger by maintaining a third, discrete blockchain comprising the third secure, distributed transaction ledger; and

interrelating the first, second, and third secure, distributed transaction ledgers utilizing secure, encrypted links between respective blocks of the first blockchain, the second blockchain, and the third blockchain.

13 . The method of claim 11 , comprising:

maintaining the first secure, distributed transaction ledger by maintaining a first blockchain comprising the first secure, distributed transaction ledger;

maintaining the second secure, distributed transaction ledger by maintaining the first blockchain comprising the second secure, distributed transaction ledger, blocks of the first blockchain in the first secure, distributed transaction ledger being discrete from blocks of the first blockchain in the second secure, distributed transaction ledger;

maintaining the third secure, distributed transaction ledger by maintaining the first blockchain comprising the third secure, distributed transaction ledger, blocks of the first blockchain in the third secure, distributed transaction ledger being discrete from blocks of the first blockchain in the first secure, distributed transaction ledger and in the second secure, distributed transaction ledger; and

interrelating the first, second, and third secure, distributed transaction ledgers utilizing secure, encrypted links between respective blocks of the first blockchain.

14 . The method of claim 11 , comprising granting selective access to identification of product designs in the first secure, distributed transaction ledger only upon receipt of an encrypted, secure identifier.

The method of claim 14 , comprising granting selective access to an identifier comprising a name, a recommended use case, a line drawing, a three-dimensional surface model, a complete three-dimensional model, a partial specification, or a full specification, or any combination of these identifiers of product designs in the first secure, distributed transaction ledger, depending on an indication of access rights associated with the encrypted, secure identifier.

16 . The method of claim 11 , comprising:

maintaining a plurality of second secure, distributed transaction ledgers comprising respective digital records of a plurality of entities' respective physical inventories of industrial products;

syncing the plurality of second secure, distributed transaction ledgers with respective remote copies of the plurality of second secure, distributed transaction ledgers via a network; and

interrelating and updating the first, plurality of second, and third secure, distributed transaction ledgers to associate respective digital records of at least some industrial products in the respective physical inventories of the plurality of second secure, distributed transaction ledgers with corresponding product designs in the digital inventory of the first secure, distributed transaction ledger and digital records of corresponding precursors in the third secure, distributed transaction ledger for end-to-end verification of sourcing and design for the at least some industrial products.

17 . The method of claim 11 , comprising:

sending other operational parameters to enable the additive manufacturing device to manufacture a witness mass of a same material as at least a portion of the industrial product before manufacturing the at least one of the industrial products.

18 . The method of claim 17 , comprising:

sending the other operational parameters to enable the additive manufacturing device to manufacture the witness mass such that the witness mass has a same randomized variation in one or more physical characteristics in one or more portions of the witness mass as the randomized variation in the one or more physical characteristics in the one or more portions of the at least one of the industrial products.

19 . The method of claim 11 , comprising:

updating the first secure, distributed transaction ledger with a version history for at least one of the product designs for industrial products; and

interrelating and updating the first, second, and third secure, distributed transaction ledgers to associate a version of the at least one of the product designs within the version history in the first secure, distributed transaction ledger with corresponding industrial products in the physical inventory of the second secure, distributed transaction ledger and digital records of corresponding precursors in the third secure, distributed transaction ledger matching the version.

20 . The method of claim 11 , comprising:

maintaining a fourth secure, distributed transaction ledger comprising a digital record of post-manufacturing use of at least some of the industrial products in the second secure, distributed transaction ledger; and

interrelating and updating the first, second, third, and fourth secure, distributed transaction ledgers to associate digital records of at least some industrial products in the physical inventory of the second secure, distributed transaction ledger with corresponding product designs in the digital inventory of the first secure, distributed transaction ledger, digital records of corresponding precursors in the third secure, distributed transaction ledger, and digital records of post-manufacturing use in the fourth secure, distributed transaction ledger for end-to-end verification of sourcing, design, and use for the at least some industrial products.
