Control tower for virtual rewards currency
Systems, methods, and apparatuses for providing a central location to manage permissions provided to third-parties and devices to access and use user data and to manage accounts at multiple entities. A central portal may allow a user to manage all access to account data and personal information as well as usability and functionality of accounts. The user need not log into multiple third-party systems or customer devices to manage previously provided access to the information, provision new access to the information, and to manage financial or other accounts. A user is able to have user data and third-party accounts of the user deleted from devices, applications, and third-party systems via a central portal. The user is able to impose restrictions on how user data is used by devices, applications, and third-party systems, and control such features as recurring payments and use of rewards, via a central portal.
1 . A method comprising:
receiving, by one or more processors, from a user device of a user, location data indicating a physical location of the user device;
determining, by the one or more processors, based on the physical location of the user device, that the user device is located proximate to a predetermined location;
crediting, by the one or more processors, a rewards value to an account of the user responsive to determining, based on the physical location of the user device, that the user device is located proximate to the predetermined location;
generating, by the one or more processors, an internet portal with one or more graphical user interfaces, the one or more graphical user interfaces including information indicating the rewards value, the one or more graphical user interfaces including respective rewards for a plurality of providers and respective permissions associated with each of the plurality of providers;
providing, by the one or more processors, to an internet browser or an application executing on a user device of a user, the internet portal with the one or more graphical user interfaces;
receiving, by the one or more processors, via the internet browser or the application accessing the internet portal, a request to modify a permission to permit the rewards value to be used as part of a subsequent electronic transaction involving the account and a provider of the plurality of providers, wherein the provider is specified in the request based on a selection via the one or more graphical user interfaces;
modifying, by the one or more processors, the permission to permit the rewards value in the subsequent electronic transaction involving the account and the provider in response to the request;
receiving, by the one or more processors, from a provider computing device of the provider, an authorization request for an electronic transaction requiring an electronic monetary payment of a monetary amount by the user using the account; and
applying, by the one or more processors, the rewards value by reducing the electronic monetary payment for the electronic transaction based on the rewards value according to the permission.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the rewards value is applied such that an amount less than the monetary amount is required from the account for the electronic transaction.
3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising accepting, via the internet portal, a second selection to disable use of the rewards value with respect to the account for electronic transactions initiated subsequent to the second selection.
4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising graphically presenting, via the internet portal, an indication that the rewards value was applied to the electronic transaction.
5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising transmitting, to the provider computing device, an approval of the electronic transaction.
6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing, by the one or more processors, to the user device, information on accounts held by two or more separate entities based on communications with corresponding computing systems of the two or more separate entities.
7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising accessing, by the one or more processors, one or more accounts of the user.
8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving, by the one or more processors, a second request to apply the rewards value to a past transaction that was originally processed without use of the rewards value.
9 . A computing system having one or more processors and a memory storing executable code which causes the computing system, when executed, to:
receive, from a user device of a user, location data indicating a physical location of the user device;
determine, based on the physical location of the user device, that the user device is located proximate to a predetermined location;
credit a rewards value to an account of the user responsive to determining, based on the physical location of the user device, that the user device is located proximate to the predetermined location;
generate an internet portal with one or more graphical user interfaces, the one or more graphical user interfaces including information indicating the rewards value, the one or more graphical user interfaces including respective rewards for a plurality of providers and respective permissions associated with each of the plurality of providers;
provide, via the internet, to an internet browser or an application executing on a user device of a user, the internet portal with the one or more graphical user interfaces;
receive, via the internet portal, a request to modify a permission to permit the rewards value to be used as a part of a subsequent electronic transaction involving the account and a provider of the plurality of providers, wherein the provider is specified in the request based on a selection via the one or more graphical user interfaces;
modify the permission to permit the rewards value in the subsequent electronic transaction involving the account and the provider in response to the request;
receive, from a provider computing device of the provider, an authorization request for an electronic transaction requiring an electronic monetary payment of a monetary amount by the user using the account; and
apply the rewards value to the electronic transaction involving the account by reducing the electronic monetary payment for the electronic transaction based on the rewards value according to the permission.
10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the internet portal is provided following a successful login via the user device.
11 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the executable code further causes the computing system, when executed, to accept, via the internet portal, a second selection to disable use of the rewards value with respect to the account for electronic transactions initiated subsequent to the second selection.
12 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the executable code further causes the computing system, when executed, to transmit, to the provider computing device, an approval of the electronic transaction.
13 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the executable code further causes the computing system, when executed, to receive a second request to apply the rewards value to a past transaction that was originally processed without use of the rewards value.
