Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a method for performing a configured grant (CG) based small data transmission (SDT) in a wireless communication system. In particular, the method includes the steps of: storing a reference Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) upon a reception of Configured Grant based Small Data Transmission (CG-SDT) configuration via a Radio Resource Control (RRC) release message; measuring a current RSRP based on a SDT procedure being initiated; and based on a difference between the current RSRP and the reference RSRP being less than or equal to a threshold value, perform a CG-SDT procedure based on the CG-SDT configuration.

Claims (31)

1 . A method comprising:

storing, by a User Equipment (UE), a Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) based on a reception of Configured Grant based Small Data Transmission (CG-SDT) configuration via a Radio Resource Control (RRC) release message, wherein the CG-SDT configuration includes a threshold value;

based on a difference between a current RSRP and the stored RSRP being less than or equal to the threshold value, considering, by the UE, a timing advance (TA) of the CG-SDT to be valid; and

based on the TA of the CG-SDT being valid, perform, by the UE, a CG-SDT procedure based on the CG-SDT configuration.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

based on the RRC release message being received, transitioning to a RRC INACTIVE state from a RRC_CONNECTED state.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein, based on the difference between the current RSRP and the stored RSRP being greater than the threshold value, the TA of the CG-SDT is considered to be invalid.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

based on the difference between the current RSRP and the stored RSRP being greater than the threshold value, determining whether conditions for Random Access based Small Data Transmission (RA-SDT) procedure are met or not.

5 . A user equipment (UE) comprising:

at least one processor; and

at least one computer memory storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the UE to perform operations comprising:

storing a Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) based on a reception of Configured Grant based Small Data Transmission (CG-SDT) configuration via a Radio Resource Control (RRC) release message, wherein the CG-SDT configuration includes a threshold value;

based on a difference between a current RSRP and the stored RSRP being less than or equal to the threshold value, considering a timing advance (TA) of the CG-SDT to be valid; and

based on the TA of the CG-SDT being valid, perform a CG-SDT procedure based on the CG-SDT configuration.

6 . The UE of claim 5 , wherein, based on the difference between the current RSRP and the stored RSRP being less than or equal to the threshold value, a Timing Advance (TA) related to the RRC release message is considered to be valid.

7 . The UE of claim 6 , wherein, based on the difference between the current RSRP and the stored RSRP being greater than the threshold value, the TA of the CG-SDT is considered to be invalid.

8 . The UE of claim 6 , wherein the operations further comprise:

based on the difference between the current RSRP and the stored RSRP being greater than the threshold value, determining whether conditions for Random Access based Small Data Transmission (RA-SDT) procedure are met or not.

9 . The UE of claim 5 , wherein the operations further comprise:

based on the RRC release message being received, transitioning to a RRC INACTIVE state from a RRC_CONNECTED state.

10 . An apparatus for a user equipment (UE), the apparatus comprising:

at least one processor; and

at least one computer memory storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the UE to perform operations comprising:

storing a Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) based on a reception of Configured Grant based Small Data Transmission (CG-SDT) configuration via a Radio Resource Control (RRC) release message, wherein the CG-SDT configuration includes a threshold value;

based on a difference between a current RSRP and the stored RSRP being less than or equal to the threshold value, considering a timing advance (TA) of the CG-SDT to be valid; and

based on the TA of the CG-SDT being valid, perform a CG-SDT procedure based on the CG-SDT configuration.

11 . A non-transitory computer readable storage medium comprising program instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, cause a user equipment (UE) to perform operations comprising:

storing a Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) based on a reception of Configured Grant based Small Data Transmission (CG-SDT) configuration via a Radio Resource Control (RRC) release message, wherein the CG-SDT configuration includes a threshold value;

based on a difference between a current RSRP and the stored RSRP being less than or equal to the threshold value, considering a timing advance (TA) of the CG-SDT to be valid; and

based on the TA of the CG-SDT being valid, perform a CG-SDT procedure based on the CG-SDT configuration.
