Abstract

A system and method for measuring network parameters of a wireless communication network and reporting the measured network parameters to a network node are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, the system and method are configured to determine, by a wireless communication node, at least one parameter related to wireless communication devices in a wireless communication network; compare, by the wireless communication node, the at least one parameter with at least one threshold value; and report, by the wireless communication node, according to an outcome of the comparing, the at least one parameter to a second network node associated with the wireless communication network.

Claims (21)

1 . A method, comprising:

determining, by a first wireless communication node, a maximum number or a mean number of at least one user equipment (UE) staying in an inactive state according to a network slice;

determining, by the first wireless communication node, at least one parameter related to wireless communication devices in a wireless communication network, wherein the wireless communication devices comprise the at least one UE staying in the inactive state, wherein the at least one parameter includes the maximum number or the mean number of wireless communication devices remaining in the inactive state, wherein when a UE is staying in the inactive state, the UE belongs to a cell in which a context related to the UE is stored; and

reporting, by the first wireless communication node, the at least one parameter to a second wireless communication node associated with the wireless communication network, wherein the first wireless communication node comprises a base station and the second wireless communication node comprises a core network node.

2 . The method of claim 1 , comprising:

determining, by the first wireless communication node, the at least one parameter during each time period per cell of the wireless communication network;

determining, by the first wireless communication node, the mean number of the at least one UE across a plurality of public land mobile networks (PLMNs);

determining, by the first wireless communication node, the maximum number of the at least one UE across the plurality of PLMNs;

determining, by the first wireless communication node, the mean number of the at least one UE according to non-public network (NPN) identifiers, IDs; or

determining, by the first wireless communication node, the maximum number of the at least one UE according to the NPN IDs.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one parameter includes a total number of transactions between the inactive state and at least one of an idle state or a connected state.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one parameter includes a number of system information (SI) requests for each SI messages or for each system information block (SIB) received from a wireless communication device.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one parameter includes a percentage of transmission time for system information request received from a wireless communication device.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one parameter includes a number of preambles used for a random-access channel process.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one parameter includes a number of preambles used for a random-access channel process of a 4-step random access type.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one parameter includes a number of preambles used for a random-access channel process of a 2-step random access type.

9 . A first wireless communication node, comprising:

at least one processor configured to:

determine a maximum number or a mean number of at least one user equipment (UE staying in an inactive state according to a network slice;

determine at least one parameter related to wireless communication devices in a wireless communication network, wherein the wireless communication devices comprise the at least one UE staying in the inactive state, wherein the at least one parameter includes the maximum number or the mean number of wireless communication devices remaining in the inactive state, wherein when a UE is staying in the inactive state, the UE belongs to a cell in which a context related to the UE is stored; and

report the at least one parameter to a second wireless communication node associated with the wireless communication network, wherein the first wireless communication node comprises a base station and the second wireless communication node comprises a core network node.
