Aerosol generation
Described herein is a laminate aerosol generating material, wherein the material comprises an aerosol-forming layer attached to a carrier layer, wherein the aerosol-forming layer comprises an amorphous solid, and wherein the carrier layer has a thickness from about 10 μm to about 2.5 mm.
1 . An aerosol generating assembly comprising a laminate aerosol generating material and a heater configured to heat but not burn the aerosol generating material, wherein the laminate aerosol generating material comprises a carrier layer and an aerosol-forming layer which comprises an amorphous solid, wherein substantially all of the aerosol-forming layer is disposed in the assembly at a distance from the heater of less than 1 mm; wherein the aerosol-forming layer is attached to the carrier layer, and wherein the aerosol generating material is in the form of a tube wherein the carrier layer is on the outer surface of the tube, and the surface of the carrier layer facing away from the amorphous solid is arranged in contact with the heater;
wherein the amorphous solid comprises from 1 wt % to 15 wt % of water, calculated on a wet weight basis;
wherein the laminate aerosol generating material has a thickness of less than 1 mm; and
wherein the carrier layer has a thickness of from 50 μm to 0.5 mm.
2 . An aerosol generating assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the laminate aerosol generating material has a thickness of less than 4 mm.
3 . An aerosol generating assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the carrier comprises one or more materials selected from metal foil, paper, carbon paper, greaseproof paper, ceramic, carbon allotropes, plastic, cardboard, wood or combinations thereof.
4 . An aerosol generating assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the amorphous solid comprises 1-60 wt % of a gelling agent calculated on a dry weight basis.
5 . An aerosol generating assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the amorphous solid comprises 5-80 wt % of an aerosol generating agent calculated on a dry weight basis.
6 . An aerosol generating assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the amorphous solid comprises 0.1-60 wt % of an active substance calculated on a dry weight basis.
7 . An aerosol generating assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the amorphous solid comprises a flavorant.
8 . An aerosol generating assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the amorphous solid has an area density of from 30 to 120 g/m 2 .
9 . An aerosol generating assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the amorphous solid comprises a fibrous organic filler material.
10 . An aerosol generating assembly according to claim 9 , wherein the fibrous organic filler material is in the form of wood pulp.
11 . An aerosol generating assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the carrier layer has a thickness of from 0.1 mm to 0.5 mm.
12 . An aerosol generating assembly comprising a laminate aerosol generating material and a heater configured to heat but not burn the aerosol generating material, wherein the laminate aerosol generating material comprises a carrier layer and an aerosol-forming layer which comprises an amorphous solid, wherein substantially all of the aerosol-forming layer is disposed in the assembly at a distance from the heater of less than 1 mm; wherein the aerosol-forming layer is attached to the carrier layer, the heater has a flat heater surface and the aerosol generating material is provided as a planar sheet with the carrier layer contacting the flat heater surface;
wherein the amorphous solid comprises from 1 wt % to 15 wt % of water, calculated on a wet weight basis;
wherein the laminate aerosol generating material has a thickness of less than 1 mm; and
wherein the carrier layer has a thickness of from 50 μm to 0.5 mm.
13 . An aerosol generating assembly according to claim 12 , wherein the amorphous solid has an area density of from 30 to 120 g/m 2 .
14 . An aerosol generating assembly according to claim 12 , wherein the amorphous solid comprises a fibrous organic filler material.
15 . An aerosol generating assembly according to claim 14 , wherein the fibrous organic filler material is in the form of wood pulp.
16 . An aerosol generating assembly according to claim 12 , wherein the carrier layer has a thickness of from 0.1 mm to 0.5 mm.
