Systems and methods for cooking pizza
An electric pizza oven is provided that includes a housing defining an interior cooking chamber, a door provided on a front of the housing that includes a handle, a cooking surface disposed within the interior cooking chamber and arranged to receive food to be cooked, an upper heater and a lower heater, each disposed within the interior cooking chamber and arranged to supply heat thereto, wherein at least one of the upper heater and the lower heater are capable of causing the interior cooking chamber to reach a temperature of at least 700 degrees Fahrenheit, and a user interface provided below the handle, wherein the user can interact with the user interface to select a pre-programmed cooking mode of a plurality of pre-programmed cooking modes in which the electric pizza oven can operate, including a Neapolitan mode, a New York mode, a Thin-Crust mode, and a Frozen mode.
1 . An electric pizza oven comprising:
a housing defining an interior cooking chamber;
a door provided on a front of the housing and configured to selectively open and close to permit access to the interior cooking chamber;
a cooking surface disposed within the interior cooking chamber and configured to receive food to be cooked;
an upper heater and a lower heater, each disposed within the interior cooking chamber and configured to supply heat thereto, wherein the upper heater and the lower heater are capable of causing the interior cooking chamber to reach a temperature of at least 700 degrees Fahrenheit either together or separately;
at least one temperature sensor disposed within the interior cooking chamber configured to measure a temperature of the interior cooking chamber;
a user interface provided below the door on the front of the housing, wherein the user interface comprises at least one rotary dial configured to rotate when turned by a user, such that the user can select a pre-programmed cooking mode of a plurality of pre-programmed cooking modes in which the electric pizza oven can operate; and
a controller operatively coupled to the with the upper heater, the lower heater, and the user interface, wherein the controller is configured to:
receive, from the user interface, data characterizing a selection of the pre-programmed cooking mode,
cause heat to be supplied to the interior chamber by at least one of the upper and lower heating elements in accordance with a pre-heating mode, and
turn off the electric pizza oven responsive to determining that the user has failed to interact with the user interface for a predefined period of time after an end of the pre-heating mode.
2 . The electric pizza oven of claim 1 , wherein the user interface further comprises one or more indicators configured to illuminate to provide a status of the electric pizza oven.
3 . The electric pizza oven of claim 2 , wherein the one or more indicators include at least one cooking mode indicator configured to illuminate corresponding to the selected pre-programmed cooking mode.
4 . The electric pizza oven of claim 3 , wherein the pre-programmed cooking modes include a Neapolitan mode, a New York mode, and a Thin-Crust mode.
5 . The electric pizza oven of claim 2 , wherein the one or more indicators include a power indicator configured to illuminate when the electric pizza oven is in an operational state.
6 . The electric pizza oven of claim 1 , wherein the at least one rotary dial is further configured such that, when turned by the user, the user can adjust a target cooking temperature setting.
7 . The electric pizza oven of claim 1 , wherein the user interface is further configured to display at least one of a cooking time and a cooking temperature.
8 . The electric pizza oven of claim 1 , wherein the door is hingedly coupled to the housing such that the door is rotatable downward toward the user interface when the door is opened to permit access to the interior cooking chamber.
9 . The electric pizza oven of claim 1 , wherein the cooking surface comprises a cooking stone.
10 . An electric pizza oven comprising:
a housing defining an interior cooking chamber;
a door provided on a front of the housing, wherein the door includes a handle configured to be pulled by a user to selectively open and close the door to permit access to the interior cooking chamber;
a cooking surface disposed within the interior cooking chamber and configured to receive food to be cooked;
an upper heater and a lower heater, each disposed within the interior cooking chamber and configured to supply heat thereto, wherein at least one of the upper heater and the lower heater are capable of causing the interior cooking chamber to reach a temperature of at least 700 degrees Fahrenheit either together or separately;
at least one temperature sensor disposed within the interior cooking chamber configured to measure a temperature of the interior cooking chamber
a user interface provided below the handle, wherein the user can interact with the user interface to select a pre-programmed cooking mode of a plurality of pre-programmed cooking modes in which the electric pizza oven can operate, wherein the plurality of pre-programmed cooking modes comprise a Neapolitan mode, a New York mode, and a Thin-Crust mode; and
a controller operatively coupled to the with the upper heater, the lower heater, and the user interface, wherein the controller is configured to:
receive, from the user interface, data characterizing a selection of the pre-programmed cooking mode,
cause heat to be supplied to the interior chamber by at least one of the upper and lower heating elements in accordance with a pre-heating mode, and
turn off the electric pizza oven responsive to determining that the user has failed to interact with the user interface for a predefined period of time after an end of the pre-heating mode.
11 . The electric pizza oven of claim 10 , wherein the user interface further comprises one or more indicators configured to illuminate to provide a status of the electric pizza oven.
12 . The electric pizza oven of claim 11 , wherein the one or more indicators include a cooking mode indicator configured to illuminate corresponding to the selected pre-programmed cooking mode.
13 . The electric pizza oven of claim 11 , wherein the one or more indicators include a power indicator configured to illuminate when the electric pizza oven is in an operational state.
14 . The electric pizza oven of claim 10 , wherein the user can further interact with the user interface to adjust a target cooking temperature setting.
15 . The electric pizza oven of claim 10 , wherein the user interface is further configured to display at least one of a cooking time and a cooking temperature.
16 . The electric pizza oven of claim 10 , wherein the door is hingedly coupled to the housing such that the door is rotatable downward when the door is opened to permit access to the interior cooking chamber.
17 . The electric pizza oven of claim 10 , wherein the cooking surface comprises a cooking stone.
