Abstract

A medical apparatus including a bar with a first attachment loop, a second attachment and a plurality of hooks, wherein the medical apparatus is an arch bar.

Claims (43)

1 . A medical apparatus comprising:

a first plate configured to match a mandible contour, the first plate having first and second sides;

a first attachment loop extending from the first side and configured to overly the mandible and receive a first fastener to directly affix the first plate to the mandible;

a first hook extending from the second side and having a first open part turned toward the first side; and

a first wire received in the first open part.

2 . The medical apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising:

a second plate configured to match a maxilla contour, the second plate having third and fourth sides;

a second attachment loop extending from the third side and configured to overly the maxilla and receive a second fastener to directly affix the second plate to the maxilla; and

a second hook extending from the fourth side and having a second open part turned toward the third side, the second open part receiving the first wire.

3 . The medical apparatus of claim 2 , further comprising a first screw extending through the first attachment loop and into the mandible and a second screw extending through the second attachment loop and into the maxilla.

4 . The medical apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the first attachment loop includes a plurality of attachment loops, the first hook includes a plurality of hooks, the second attachment loop includes a plurality of attachment loops and the second hook includes a plurality of hooks.

5 . The medical apparatus of claim 4 , further comprising a plurality of first screws extending through the plurality of first attachment loops, a plurality of second screws extending through the plurality of second attachment loops and a plurality of wires received in the plurality of hooks.

6 . The medical apparatus of claim 2 , further comprising a first stem connecting the first attachment loop to the first plate and a second stem connecting the second attachment loop to the second plate.

7 . The medical apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the first and second stems are constructed to permit bending.

8 . The medical apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the first and second plates are constructed to permit bending of the plates.

9 . The medical apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the first attachment loop is a first compound loop having at least first and second apertures and the second attachment loop is a second compound loop having at least third and fourth apertures.

10 . The medical apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the first attachment loop includes a first circular aperture and the second attachment loop includes a second circular aperture.

11 . The medical apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first attachment loop includes a plurality of attachment loops and the first hook includes a plurality of hooks.

12 . The medical apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first attachment loop includes a first circular aperture.

13 . A medical apparatus comprising:

a first plate configured to match a mandible contour, the first plate having first and second sides;

a plurality of first attachment loops each extending from the first side and each configured to overly the mandible and receive a different first fastener to directly affix the first plate to the mandible; and

a plurality of first hooks each extending from the second side and each having a first open part turned toward the first side; and

a wire received in the first open part.

14 . The medical apparatus of claim 13 , further comprising:

a second plate configured to match a maxilla contour, the second plate having third and fourth sides;

a plurality of second attachment loops each extending from the third side and each configured to overly the maxilla and receive a different second fastener to directly affix the second plate to the maxilla; and

a plurality of second hooks each extending from the fourth side and each having a second open part turned toward the third side receiving the wire.

15 . The medical apparatus of claim 14 , further comprising a plurality of first stems connecting the first attachment loops to the first plate and a plurality of second stems connecting the second attachment loops to the second plate.

16 . The medical apparatus of claim 15 , wherein the first and second stems are constructed to permit bending.

17 . The medical apparatus of claim 14 , wherein the first and second plates are constructed to permit bending of the plates.

18 . A medical apparatus comprising:

a first plate configured to match a mandible contour, the first plate having first and second sides;

a plurality of first attachment loops each extending from the first side and each configured to overly the mandible;

a plurality of first fasteners extending through a different first attachment loop to directly affix the first plate to the mandible;

a plurality of first hooks each extending from the second side and each having a first open part turned toward the first side;

a second plate configured to match a maxilla contour, the second plate having third and fourth sides;

a plurality of second attachment loops each extending from the third side and each configured to overly the maxilla;

a plurality of second fasteners extending through a different second attachment loop to directly affix the second plate to the maxilla;

a plurality of second hooks each extending from the fourth side and each having a second open part turned toward the third side;

a first wire disposed in at least one of the first open parts and at least of the second open parts; and

a second wire disposed in at least one of the first open parts and at least of the second open parts.

19 . The medical apparatus of claim 18 , wherein the first and second wires cross each other.
