Abstract

A system and method are disclosed for predicting recommendations for a user interface. The method includes generating a graphical user interface that receives an input from a user of a client portal, crawling tasks associated with the user in the client portal, ranking the tasks according to an intent associated with the input from the user, fetching at least one task from the ranked tasks, calculating a quantity of steps to complete the task from the ranked tasks; identifying one or more slots used by the task in at least one step from the quantity of steps, and generating one or more recommendations comprising a subsequent action for the user to complete the task.

Claims (39)

1 . A system for responding to requests using a conversation engine, comprising:

a computer, comprising a processor and memory, and configured to:

access a user interface via a client system;

provide a user input to a natural language processing engine;

decode the user input by determining an intent and information associated with the intent, wherein the user input is interpreted according to one or more meta-classes, and wherein the one or more meta-classes comprise one or more of: recognize, overview, select, enter and initiate;

search a knowledge base for a definition of the determined intent;

receive a response from the knowledge base; and

provide a natural language response to the conversation engine for display by the user interface.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein a definition of the determined intent is associated with one or more of: a task, an action, a service, a navigation, and a function of the user interface.

3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the knowledge base comprises a searchable index of definitions.

4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the knowledge base comprises definitions which define at least one task associated with the intent.

5 . The system of claim 4 , wherein the at least one task comprises one or more activities to complete the at least one task.

6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the client system comprises a single sign on portal.

7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the conversation engine is configured to display one or more of: a task list, one or more available services, one or more tools and one or more utilities.

8 . A computer-implemented method for responding to requests using a conversation engine, comprising:

accessing, by a computer comprising a processor and memory, a user interface via a client system;

providing, by the computer, a user input to a natural language processing engine;

decoding, by the computer, the user input by determining an intent and information associated with the intent, wherein the user input is interpreted according to one or more meta-classes, and wherein the one or more meta-classes comprise one or more of: recognize, overview, select, enter and initiate;

searching, by the computer, a knowledge base for a definition of the determined intent;

receiving, by the computer, a response from the knowledge base; and

providing, by the computer, a natural language response to the conversation engine for display by the user interface.

9 . The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , wherein a definition of the determined intent is associated with one or more of: a task, an action, a service, a navigation, and a function of the user interface.

10 . The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , wherein the knowledge base comprises a searchable index of definitions.

11 . The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , wherein the knowledge base comprises definitions which define at least one task associated with the intent.

12 . The computer-implemented method of claim 11 , wherein the at least one task comprises one or more activities to complete the at least one task.

13 . The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , wherein the client system comprises a single sign on portal.

14 . The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , wherein the conversation engine is configured to display one or more of: a task list, one or more available services, one or more tools and one or more utilities.

15 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium embodied with software for responding to requests using a conversation engine, the software when executed by a computer is configured to:

access a user interface via a client system;

provide a user input to a natural language processing engine;

decode the user input by determining an intent and information associated with the intent, wherein the user input is interpreted according to one or more meta-classes, and wherein the one or more meta-classes comprise one or more of: recognize, overview, select, enter and initiate;

search a knowledge base for a definition of the determined intent;

receive a response from the knowledge base; and

provide a natural language response to the conversation engine for display by the user interface.

16 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein a definition of the determined intent is associated with one or more of: a task, an action, a service, a navigation, and a function of the user interface.

17 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the knowledge base comprises a searchable index of definitions.

18 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the knowledge base comprises definitions which define at least one task associated with the intent.

19 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 18 , wherein the at least one task comprises one or more activities to complete the at least one task.

20 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the client system comprises a single sign on portal.
