Abstract

A cord protector with at least one elongated body and at least one coupler. The elongated body has a base with a channel extending between a first end and a second end. The elongated body has a lid configured to be inserted into and cover the channel. A pillar may extend up from the floor of the channel to support the lid when the lid is inserted into the channel. The elongated body has a cavity separate from the channel disposed in the first end below the channel. An aperture extends through a portion of the base within the cavity adjacent to the first end. A leading end of the coupler is configured to mate with the first end of the elongated body and has a tab that is configured to extend into the aperture when the leading end is mated with the first end of the elongated body.

Claims (34)

1 . A cord protector, comprising:

at least one elongated body having:

a base having a first end, a second end, a channel extending between the first end and the second end, the channel defined by first and second sidewalls, a pillar extending from a floor of the channel into the channel between the first and second sidewalls, at least one ridge extending into the channel below a top edge of each of the first and second sidewalls, and at least one ledge extending into the channel from each of the first and second sidewalls below and separate from the at least one ridge;

a lid configured to be inserted into and cover the channel, the lid having at least one groove sized and shaped to receive the at least one ridge, wherein the pillar and the at least one ledge support the lid when the lid is inserted into the channel; and

a cavity separate from the channel disposed in the first end below the channel, wherein an aperture extends through a portion of the base within the cavity adjacent to the first end; and

at least one coupler having a leading end and a trailing end, the leading end configured to mate with the first end of the at least one elongated body, wherein the leading end has at least one tab moveable between a protruding position wherein the at least one tab extends below the at least one coupler and an aligned position wherein the at least one tab is aligned with the at least one coupler, wherein the at least one tab is biased toward the protruding position and is configured to extend into the aperture when the leading end is mated with the first end of the at least one elongated body.

2 . The cord protector of claim 1 , the lid further having a slot configured to receive a top of the pillar when the lid is inserted into the channel.

3 . The cord protector of claim 1 , wherein the lid is inserted into the channel by snapping the at least one groove of the lid around the at least one ridge of the base.

4 . The cord protector of claim 1 , wherein the pillar extends from the floor into the channel for a majority of a length of the channel.

5 . The cord protector of claim 1 , further comprising a cavity separate from the channel disposed in the second end below the channel, wherein an aperture extends through a portion of the base within the cavity adjacent to the second end, wherein the trailing end of the at least one coupler has at least one tab configured to extend into the aperture when the trailing end is mated with the second end of the at least one elongated body.

6 . A cord protector, comprising:

at least one elongated body having:

a base having a first end, a second end, a channel extending between the first end and the second end, the channel defined by first and second sidewalls;

a lid configured to be inserted into and cover the channel; and

a cavity separate from the channel disposed in the first end below the channel, wherein an aperture extends through a portion of the base within the cavity adjacent to the first end; and

at least one coupler having a leading end and a trailing end, the leading end configured to mate with the first end of the at least one elongated body, the leading end having at least one tab moveable between a protruding position wherein the at least one tab extends below the at least one coupler and an aligned position wherein the at least one tab is aligned with the at least one coupler, wherein the at least one tab is biased toward the protruding position and is configured to extend into the aperture when the leading end is mated with the first end of the at least one elongated body.

7 . The cord protector of claim 6 , further comprising a pillar extending from a floor of the channel into the channel between the first and second sidewalls, wherein the pillar supports the lid when the lid is inserted into the channel.

8 . The cord protector of claim 7 , the lid further having a slot configured to receive a top of the pillar when the lid is inserted into the channel.

9 . The cord protector of claim 7 , wherein the pillar extends from the floor into the channel for a majority of a length of the channel.

10 . The cord protector of claim 6 , further comprising at least one ridge extending into the channel below a top edge of each of the first and second sidewalls, wherein the lid has at least one groove sized and shaped to receive the at least one ridge.

11 . The cord protector of claim 10 , wherein the lid is inserted into the channel by snapping the at least one groove of the lid around the at least one ridge of the base.

12 . The cord protector of claim 6 , further comprising at least one ledge extending into the channel from each of the first and second sidewalls, wherein the at least one ledge supports the lid when the lid is inserted into the channel.

13 . The cord protector of claim 6 , further comprising a cavity separate from the channel disposed in the second end below the channel, wherein an aperture extends through a portion of the base within the cavity adjacent to the second end, wherein the trailing end of the at least one coupler has at least one tab configured to extend into the aperture when the trailing end is mated with the second end of the at least one elongated body.

14 . A cord protector, comprising:

at least one elongated body having:

a base having a first end, a second end, a channel extending between the first end and the second end, the channel defined by first and second sidewalls;

a lid configured to be inserted into and cover the channel; and

a cavity separate from the channel disposed in the first end below the channel; and

at least one coupler having a leading end and a trailing end, the leading end configured to mate with the first end of the at least one elongated body, wherein the leading end has at least one tab configured to extend into an aperture extending through a portion of the base adjacent the first end when the leading end is mated with the first end of the at least one elongated body.

15 . The cord protector of claim 14 , wherein the at least one tab is moveable between a protruding position wherein the at least one tab extends below the at least one coupler and an aligned position wherein the at least one tab is aligned with the at least one coupler.

16 . The cord protector of claim 14 , wherein the at least one tab is biased toward a protruding position wherein the at least one tab extends into the aperture when the leading end is mated with the first end of the at least one elongated body.

17 . The cord protector of claim 14 , further comprising a pillar extending from a floor of the channel into the channel between the first and second sidewalls, wherein the pillar supports the lid when the lid is inserted into the channel.
