Unified notification system
Systems and methods are provided for providing a unified notification system. A notification is transmitted to a receiving device and a determination is reached as to whether the message was successfully delivered to the receiving device. If the message was not delivered, a second notification type is utilized to deliver the message to the receiving device. If the message was not delivered to the receiving device, a third notification type is utilized. This cycle repeats a number of times.
1 . A method for providing notifications to a user equipment (UE), the method comprising:
receiving a first message destined for the UE, wherein the first message has a first format;
determining that the UE is not connected to a first radio access network;
determining that the UE is connected to a second radio access network, the second radio access network being a different type of radio access network than the first radio access network;
determining that a delivery of the first message to the UE using the first format was unsuccessful;
based on said determinations, and based on notification type capabilities of the UE, converting, by a notification system of a telecommunications network, the first message to a second message, the second message having a second format different than the first format; and
communicating the second message to the second radio access network for delivery to the UE.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second radio access network is a satellite radio access network and the first radio access network is a terrestrial radio access network.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the second format is SMS.
4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the first format is a phone call.
5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
determining that the second message was not received at the UE using the second format;
based on the second message not being received at the UE, determining a third format for a third message to be sent to the UE; and
sending the third message to the UE using the third format, wherein the third format is different than the first format and the second format.
6 . The method of claim 5 , further comprising transmitting the first message to the UE until a threshold has been met, wherein the threshold is a number of total times that a notification cycle occurred.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the notification cycle is a combination of the first format, the second format, and the third format.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first format and the second format are one or more of email, SMS, push, phone call, or voicemail.
9 . A non-transitory computer readable media, that when executed by one or more computer processing components, cause the one or more computer processing components to perform operations comprising:
receiving a first message destined for a UE, wherein the first message has a first format;
determining that the UE is not connected to a first radio access network;
determining that the UE is connected to a second radio access network, the second radio access network being a different type of radio access network than the first radio access network;
determining that a delivery of the first message to the UE using the first format was unsuccessful;
based on said determinations, and based on notification type capabilities of the UE, converting, by a notification system of a telecommunications network, the first message to a second message, the second message having a second format different than the first format; and
communicating the second message to the second radio access network for delivery to the UE.
10 . The non-transitory computer readable media of claim 9 , wherein the second radio access network is a satellite radio access network and the first radio access network is a terrestrial radio access network.
11 . The non-transitory computer readable media of claim 10 , wherein the second format is SMS.
12 . The non-transitory computer readable media of claim 11 , wherein the first format is a phone call.
13 . The non-transitory computer readable media of claim 9 , wherein the first format and the second format are one or more of email, SMS, push, phone call, or voicemail.
14 . The non-transitory computer readable media of claim 9 , further comprising:
determining that the second message was not received at the UE using the second format;
based on the second message not being received at the UE, determining a third message to be sent to the UE using a third format; and
sending the third message to the UE via the third format, wherein the third format is different than the first format and the second format.
15 . A system for providing notifications to a UE, the system comprising:
one or more processors; and
one or more non-transitory computer storage hardware devices storing computer-usable instructions that, when used by the one of more processors, cause the one or more processors to:
receive a first message destined for the UE, wherein the first message has a first format;
determine that the UE is not connected to a first radio access network;
determine that the UE is connected to a second radio access network, the second radio access network being a different type of radio access network than the first radio access network;
determine that a delivery of the first message to the UE using the first format was unsuccessful;
based on said determinations, and based on notification type capabilities of the UE, converting, by a notification system of a telecommunications network, the first message to a second message, the second message having a second format different than the first format; and
communicate the second message to the second radio access network for delivery to the UE.
16 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the second radio access network is a satellite radio access network and the first radio access network is a terrestrial radio access network.
17 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the second format is SMS.
18 . The system of claim 17 , wherein the first format is a phone call.
19 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the first format and the second format are one or more of email, SMS, push, phone call, or voicemail.
20 . The system of claim 15 , further comprising:
determining that the second message was not received at the UE using the second format;
based on the second message not being received at the UE, determining a third message to be sent to the UE using a third format; and
sending the third message to the UE via the third format, wherein the third format is different than the first format and the second format.
