A method comprising: executing a streaming session establishment process allowing establishing a streaming session between two peers in a network, wherein the streaming session establishment process comprises receiving (404) information allowing controlling a power consumption of a decoding process applied for decoding a stream representative of a content to be streamed in the streaming session.
1 . A method, in a first device, comprising:
transmitting at least one decoder operation reduction request (DORR) message to a second device, the DORR message comprising a field indicating a value of decoding operations change compared to previous decoding operations or a field, wherein each bit of the field indicates whether at least one coding tool is enabled or disabled;
receiving, from the second device, a decoder operation reduction notification (DORN) message acknowledging receipt of the DORR message, the DORN message comprising: (i) a type field T representative of a decoding power reduction type; (ii) an OPS field indicating a value of decoding operations change compared to previous decoding operations when the type field T indicates a decoding operations change mode; and (iii) a TOOLS field when the type field T indicates a tool-based mode, wherein each bit of the TOOLS field indicates enabling or disabling of a specific coding tool; and
receiving, from the second device, a video stream generated according to the OPS field when the type field T indicates a decoding operation change mode, and according to the TOOLS field when the type field T indicates a tool-based mode.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein transmitting at least one DORR message comprises transmitting a plurality of DORR messages with different sequence numbers and wherein receiving, from the second device, a DORN message comprises receiving a DORN message acknowledging only the DORR message having a highest sequence number among the multiple DORR messages.
3 . A method, in a first device, comprising:
receiving at least one decoder operation reduction request (DORR) message from a second device, the DORR message comprising a field indicating a value of decoding operations change compared to previous decoding operations or a field, wherein each bit of the field indicates whether at least one coding tool is enabled or disabled;
acknowledging receipt of the DORR message by transmitting, to the second device, a decoder operation reduction notification (DORN) message, the DORN message comprising a Feedback Control Information (FCI) entry comprising: (i) a type field T representative of a decoding power reduction type; (ii) an OPS field indicating a value of decoding operations change compared to previous decoding operations when the type field T indicates a decoding operations change mode; and (iii) a TOOLS field when the type field T indicates a tool-based mode, wherein each bit of the field indicates enabling or disabling of a specific coding tool; and
transmitting, to the second device, a video stream generated according to the OPS field when the type field T indicates a decoding operation change mode, and according to the TOOLS field when the type field T indicates a tool-based mode.
4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein receiving at least one DORR message comprises receiving DORR messages from a plurality of devices and wherein acknowledging receipt of the DORR messages comprises transmitting a single DORN message having multiple FCI entries, each FCI entry corresponding to a respective device that sent a DORR message.
5 . The method of claim 3 , wherein receiving at least one DORR message comprises receiving multiple DORR messages with different sequence numbers from the second device and wherein acknowledging receipt of the DORR messages comprises transmitting a DORN message acknowledging only the DORR message having a highest sequence number among the multiple DORR messages received from the second device.
6 . A first device, comprising:
one or more processors and at least one memory coupled to the one or more processors, wherein the one or more processors are configured to:
transmit at least one decoder operation reduction request (DORR) message to a second device, the DORR message comprising a field indicating a value of decoding operations change compared to previous decoding operations or a field, wherein each bit of the field indicates whether at least one coding tool is enabled or disabled;
receive, from the second device, a decoder operation reduction notification (DORN) message acknowledging receipt of the DORR message, the DORN message comprising: (i) a type field T representative of a decoding power reduction type; (ii) an OPS field indicating a value of decoding operations change compared to previous decoding operations when the type field T indicates a decoding operations change mode; and (iii) a TOOLS field when the type field T indicates a tool-based mode, wherein each bit of the TOOLS field indicates enabling or disabling of a specific coding tool; and
receive, from the second device, a video stream generated according to the OPS field when the type field T indicates a decoding operation change mode, and according to the TOOLS field when the type field T indicates a tool-based mode.
7 . The first device of claim 6 , wherein to transmit at least DORR message comprises to transmit at a plurality of DORR messages with different sequence numbers and wherein to receive, from the second device, a DORN message comprises to receive a DORN message acknowledging only the DORR message having a highest sequence number among the multiple DORR messages.
8 . A first device, comprising:
one or more processors and at least one memory coupled to the one or more processors, wherein the one or more processors are configured to:
receive at least one decoder operation reduction request (DORR) message from a second device, the DORR message comprising a field indicating a value of decoding operations change compared to previous decoding operations or a field, wherein each bit of the field indicates whether at least one coding tool is enabled or disabled;
