Systems and methods for controlling access to media assets using two-factor authentication
Systems and methods for authorizing operations associated with blocked media assets using two-factor authentication. In some aspects, a media guidance application (e.g., executed by a set-top box or other user equipment used to store and display media assets) prompts a user for a password (e.g., a personal information number) in order to unlock the content for viewing. In response to receiving a second request from the user to perform an operation related to the media asset (e.g., delete), the media guidance application prompts the user for an additional factor confirming his or her identity, consistent with two-factor authentication protocol. If the user's identity is authenticated as a user that has authority to perform the operation related to the media asset (e.g., delete the stored media asset), the media guidance application performs the operation related to the media asset (e.g., deletes the media asset).
1 . A method comprising:
based at least in part on receiving first authorization information from a user interface of a user device, generating for display, on a display of the user device, a plurality of internet contents, wherein each internet content of the plurality of internet contents is identified by a respective title;
receiving a selection of an internet content of the plurality of internet contents, wherein the internet content is identified by a respective title;
while the internet content is being displayed, based at least in part on: (a) detecting a user interface interaction with an identifier of the internet content that comprises the respective title of the internet content that causes a request for an action associated with the internet content that is identified by the respective title, and (b) determining that the requested action requires additional authorization information, causing performance of a biometric authentication based on an input of biometric data; and
based at least in part on successful biometric authentication, performing the requested action for the internet content.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the performing the requested action for the internet content comprises deleting the internet content.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the biometric data comprises one or more of an iris scan, a retinal scan, a fingerprint scan, or an image of a biometric signature.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein performing the biometric authentication comprises generating for display a prompt to use a camera of the user device.
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the biometric data comprises a facial recognition based on a facial map of a user of the user device captured by the camera.
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the facial recognition comprises analyzing critical points on the facial map of the user.
7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
based on determining that the input of biometric data does not match stored biometric data, determining whether there is alternate additional authorization information to allow the requested action to be performed; and
based on determining that there is the alternate additional authorization information to allow the requested action to be performed, requesting input of the alternate additional authorization information.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the internet content is blocked from being generated for display prior to receiving the first authorization information.
9 . A method comprising:
generating for display, on a user device, a graphical user interface (GUI) configured to present at least one menu;
based at least in part on receiving, via the GUI, first authorization information, generating for display, via the GUI, a plurality of internet contents, wherein each internet content of the plurality of internet contents is identified by a respective title;
receiving a selection of an internet content of the plurality of internet contents, wherein the internet content is identified by a respective title;
while the internet content is being displayed via the GUI, based at least in part on: (a) detecting an interaction via the GUI with an identifier of the internet content that comprises the respective title of the internet content that causes a request for an action associated with the internet content that is identified by the respective title, and (b) determining that the requested action requires additional authorization information, causing performance of a biometric authentication based on an input of biometric data; and
based at least in part on successful biometric authentication, performing the requested action for the internet content, wherein the at least one menu comprises a purchase option.
10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the performing the requested action for the internet content comprises deleting the internet content.
11 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the biometric data comprises one or more of an iris scan, a retinal scan, a fingerprint scan, or an image of a biometric signature.
12 . The method of claim 9 , wherein performing the biometric authentication comprises generating for display a prompt to use a camera of the user device.
13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the biometric data comprises a facial recognition based on a facial map of a user of the user device captured by the camera.
14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the facial recognition comprises analyzing critical points on the facial map of the user.
15 . A system comprising:
input/output circuitry configured to:
based at least in part on receiving first authorization information from a user interface of a user device, generate for display, on a display of the user device, a plurality of internet contents, wherein each internet content of the plurality of internet contents is identified by a respective title;
receive a selection of an internet content of the plurality of internet contents, wherein the internet content is identified by a respective title;
control circuitry configured to:
while the internet content is being displayed, based at least in part on: (a) detecting a user interface interaction with an identifier of the internet content that comprises the respective title of the internet content that causes a request for an action associated with the internet content that is identified by the respective title, and (b) determining that the requested action requires additional authorization information, cause performance of a biometric authentication based on an input of biometric data; and
based at least in part on successful biometric authentication, perform the requested action for the internet content.
16 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the control circuitry is configured to perform the requested action for the internet content by deleting the internet content.
17 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the biometric data comprises one or more of an iris scan, a retinal scan, a fingerprint scan, or an image of a biometric signature.
