Abstract

The present invention discloses methods and systems for providing UICC/eUICC related response information to information requests at a cellular router. The method includes receiving an information request from a wireless communication module, and determining whether a response to the information request is cached. When the response information is not cached, forwarding the information request to a massive SIM apparatus (MSA). MSA will then respond to the information request. A response based on the MSA's response will then be sent to the wireless communication module for the information request. When the response information is cached, retrieve the response information and send it to the wireless communication module.

Claims (44)

1 . A method of processing subscriber identification module (SIM) profiles at a cellular router, comprising:

(a) identifying a group of SIM profiles;

(b) selecting a SIM profile from the group of SIM profiles;

(c) comparing a status of the SIM profile to a predefined value;

(i) if the status is same as the predefined value, terminating processing of the SIM profile; and

(ii) if the status is not same as the predefined value, generating an alert;

(d) repeating steps (b) to (c) for each SIM profile in the group of SIM profiles until all SIM profiles in the group of SIM profiles are processed.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

grouping the SIM profiles into a plurality of groups of SIM profiles.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the plurality of groups of SIM profiles includes the group of SIM profiles.

4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the SIM profiles in the plurality of groups of SIM profiles are located at different massive SIM apparatuses (MSAs).

5 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the SIM profiles in the plurality of groups of SIM profiles are from different Universal Integrated Circuit Cards (UICCs) or Embedded Universal Integrated Circuit Cards (eUICCs).

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

before performing step (c), determining and storing the status;

wherein the status is stored in a text format, a binary format, a XML format, or in a JSON format.

7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

if the alert is generated, lowering priority of the SIM profile in the group of SIM profiles.

8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

if the alert is removed, raising priority of the SIM profile in the group of SIM profiles.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the group of SIM profiles are provided by a wireless carrier network.

10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the alert takes form in one or more of the following: a change of operational status of the SIM profile, a change of administrative status of the SIM profile, an email, a short message, and a short message service (SMS).

11 . A cellular router, comprising:

at least one processing unit;

at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing program instructions executable by the at least one processing unit for:

(a) identifying a group of subscriber identification module (SIM) profiles;

(b) selecting a SIM profile from the group of SIM profiles;

(c) comparing a status of the SIM profile to a predefined value;

(i) if the status is same as the predefined value, terminating processing of the SIM profile; and

(ii) if the status is not same as the predefined value, generating an alert;

(d) repeating steps (b) to (c) for each SIM profile in the group of SIM profiles until all SIM profiles in the group of SIM profiles are processed.

12 . The cellular router of claim 11 , wherein the at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium further storing program instructions executable by the at least one processing unit for:

grouping the SIM profiles into a plurality of groups of SIM profiles.

13 . The cellular router of claim 12 , wherein the plurality of groups of SIM profiles includes the group of SIM profiles.

14 . The cellular router of claim 12 , wherein the SIM profiles in the plurality of groups of SIM profiles are located at different massive SIM apparatuses (MSAs).

15 . The cellular router of claim 12 , wherein the SIM profiles in the plurality of groups of SIM profiles are from different Universal Integrated Circuit Cards (UICCs) or Embedded Universal Integrated Circuit Cards (eUICCs).

16 . The cellular router of claim 11 , wherein the at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium further storing program instructions executable by the at least one processing unit for:

before performing step (c), determining and storing the status;

wherein the status is stored in a text format, a binary format, a XML format, or in a JSON format.

17 . The cellular router of claim 11 , wherein the at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium further storing program instructions executable by the at least one processing unit for:

if the alert is generated, lowering priority of the SIM profile in the group of SIM profiles.

18 . The cellular router of claim 11 , wherein the at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium further storing program instructions executable by the at least one processing unit for:

if the alert is removed, raising priority of the SIM profile in the group of SIM profiles.

19 . The cellular router of claim 11 , wherein the group of SIM profiles are provided by a wireless carrier network.

20 . The cellular router of claim 11 , wherein the alert takes form in one or more of the following: a change of operational status of the SIM profile, a change of administrative status of the SIM profile, an email, a short message, and a short message service (SMS).
