Water-soluble multicompartment unit dose article
The present invention relates to a water-soluble, multicompartment unit dose article comprising at least two superposed compartments, wherein the compartments are formed by sealing water soluble film to contain liquid detergent composition. The water-soluble film comprises polyvinyl alcohol polymer comprising an anionic polyvinyl alcohol copolymer, or a blend of polyvinyl alcohol copolymers. The total volume of the liquid detergent composition is from 12 ml.
1 . A unit dose article comprising a water-soluble film and at least one liquid detergent composition, wherein each liquid detergent composition is encapsulated within a compartment formed by the water-soluble film;
wherein the unit dose article comprises at least a first compartment and at least a second compartment, wherein the second compartment is superposed relative to the first compartment, and wherein each compartment is formed by a seal which surrounds the compartment to contain the liquid detergent composition;
wherein the water-soluble film comprises polyvinyl alcohol polymer and wherein the polyvinyl alcohol polymer comprises an anionic polyvinyl alcohol copolymer, or a blend of anionic polyvinyl alcohol copolymers; and
wherein the total volume of the liquid detergent composition is from 12 ml to 18 ml.
2 . The unit dose article according to claim 1 wherein the liquid detergent composition comprises between 5% and 60% by weight of the detergent composition of a non-soap anionic surfactant.
3 . The unit dose article according to claim 1 wherein the liquid detergent composition comprises between 1% and 25% by weight of the laundry detergent composition of a non-ionic surfactant.
4 . The unit dose article according to claim 1 wherein the liquid detergent composition comprises between 0.5% and 15% of the liquid laundry detergent composition of water.
5 . The unit dose article according to claim 1 wherein the water-soluble film comprises anionic polyvinylalcohol copolymers selected from sulphonated and carboxylated anionic polyvinylalcohol copolymers.

The unit dose article according to claim 1 wherein the water-soluble film comprises a blend of a polyvinylalcohol homopolymer and a carboxylated anionic polyvinylalcohol copolymer, and the polyvinylalcohol homopolymer and the anionic polyvinylalcohol copolymer are present in a relative weight ratio of 70/30 to 50/50.
7 . The unit dose article according to claim 1 wherein the water-soluble film comprises a polyvinylalcohol that consists of a carboxylated anionic polyvinylalcohol copolymer.
8 . The unit dose article according to claim 2 , wherein the non soap surfactant comprises non soap anionic surfactant and non ionic surfactant.
9 . The unit dose article according to claim 1 , wherein the liquid detergent composition comprises a non soap anionic surfactant and a non ionic surfactant, and wherein the weight ratio of non soap anionic surfactant to non ionic surfactant is from 1:1 to 20:1.

The unit dose article according to claim 1 , wherein the liquid detergent composition comprises a non soap anionic surfactant, and wherein the non soap anionic surfactant comprises a surfactant selected from linear alkylbenzene sulfonate, alkyl sulfate, alkoxylated alkyl sulfate, and mixtures thereof.
11 . The unit dose article according to claim 1 , wherein the liquid detergent composition comprises linear alkylbenzene sulfonate and an alkoxylated alkyl sulfate, and wherein the weight ratio of linear alkylbenzene sulfonate to the alkoxylated alkyl sulfate is from 1:2 to 9:1.
12 . The unit dose article according to claim 1 , wherein the liquid detergent composition further comprises from 1.5% to 20% by weight of the liquid detergent composition of a fatty acid, or the salt thereof.
13 . The unit dose article according to claim 1 , wherein the liquid detergent composition further comprises from 10 % to 40 % by weight of the liquid detergent composition of a non-aqueous solvent.
14 . The unit dose article according to claim 1 , wherein the liquid detergent composition has a pH between 6 and 10 , wherein the pH of the laundry detergent composition is measured as a 10% solution in demineralized water at 20° C.
15 . The unit dose article according to claim 1 , wherein the unit dose article comprises at least a third compartment, and wherein the third compartment is superposed relative to the first compartment and arranged in a side by side configuration with the second compartment.

The unit dose article according to claim 1 , wherein the unit dose article comprises at least a third and a fourth compartment, and wherein the third and fourth compartments are each superposed relative to the first compartment and arranged in a side by side configuration with the second compartment.
17 . The unit dose article according to claim 1 , wherein the unit dose article comprises a plurality of compartments and each compartment comprises a liquid detergent composition.
18 . The unit dose article according to claim 1 , wherein more than 60% by total volume of the liquid detergent composition contained in the unit dose article is comprised in the first compartment.
19 . The unit dose article according to claim 1 , wherein the liquid detergent composition is a laundry detergent composition.
