Abstract

Devices, methods and computer readable mediums storing a program causing a computer to execute a process for interacting with targets on a display, particularly in regards to devices utilizing a multi-touch display that are driven by gestures. The use of such devices, methods, and computer readable mediums storing a program allows the user to interact with devices through the use of multi-touch displays.

process a first predetermined action in response to the display sensing an activation point gesture by a finger, the activation point gesture beginning at or passing through an activation point on an edge portion of the display and continuing to another point of the display; and

process a second predetermined action in response to the display sensing a reserved gesture, the reserved gesture beginning at a point on a portion other than the edge portion,

wherein the first predetermined action is different from the second predetermined action,

wherein the activation point is not explicitly displayed,

wherein a beginning point of the reserved gesture is not explicitly displayed,

wherein the processor is configured to, during the display sensing the activation point gesture, visually change an area extending from the edge portion where the activation point gesture began, and extending to another position corresponding to a point where the activation point gesture is being sensed,

wherein an object is displayed in a first display manner in a case in which the object is in the area and the object is displayed in a second display manner in a case in which the object is not in the area, and

wherein the processor is configured to process the first predetermined action in response to the activation point gesture being completed as the finger is lifted up from the display.

2 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the activation point is included in a plurality of activation points that are placed at a first edge side of the display and a second edge side facing the first edge side.

3 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the processor is configured to process different kinds of actions in response to a first activation point gesture from the first edge side and a second activation point gesture from the second edge side.

4 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the display is configured to, if the activation point gesture is active, visually change the area to trace a motion of the activation point gesture.

5 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein only the object is changed from the second display manner to the first display manner.

6 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the object displayed in the first display manner is in a portion of the area corresponding to the activation point gesture.

7 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein a plurality of the activation points is placed on the same side of the display, and

wherein the first predetermined action is different based on which of the plurality of the activation points the activation point gesture begins or passes through.

8 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein the plurality of the activation points extends along the same side of the display.

9 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 8 , wherein a gap is provided between the plurality of the activation points on the same side on the display.

10 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 9 , wherein the plurality of the activation points extends straightly along the same side of the display and is arranged straightly in two lines with the gap between them.

11 . A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing instructions which, if executed, cause a computer to execute operations comprising:

processing, by a processor, a first predetermined action in response to the display sensing an activation point gesture by a finger, the activation point gesture beginning at or passing through an activation point on an edge portion of the display and continuing to another point of the display; and

processing, by the processor, a second predetermined action in response to the display sensing a reserved gesture, the reserved gesture beginning at a point on a portion other than the edge portion,

wherein the first activation point gesture is different from the second predetermined action,

wherein the activation point is not explicitly displayed,

wherein a beginning point of the reserved gesture is not explicitly displayed,

wherein the operations further comprise the processor, during the display sensing the activation point gesture, visually changing an area extending from the edge portion where the activation point gesture began, and extending to another position corresponding to a point where the activation point gesture is being sensed,

wherein an object is displayed in a first display manner in a case in which the object is in the area and the object is displayed in a second display manner in a case in which the object is not in the area, and

wherein the first predetermined action is processed in response to the activation point gesture being completed as the finger is lifted up from the display.

12 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 11 , wherein the activation point is included in a plurality of activation points that are placed at a first edge side of the display and a second edge facing the first edge side.

13 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 11 , wherein different kinds of actions are processed in response to a first activation point gesture from the first edge side and a second activation point gesture from the second edge side.

14 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 11 , wherein the operations further comprise, if the activation point gesture is active, visually changing the area to trace a motion of the activation point gesture.

15 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 11 , wherein only the object is changed from the second display manner to the first display manner.

16 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 11 , wherein the object displayed in the first display manner is in a portion of the area corresponding to the activation point gesture.

17 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 11 , wherein a plurality of the activation points is placed on the same side of the display, and

wherein the first predetermined action is different based on which of the plurality of the activation points the activation point gesture begins or passes through.

18 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 17 , wherein the plurality of the activation points extends along the same side of the display.

19 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 18 , wherein a gap is provided between the plurality of the activation points on the same side on the display.

20 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 19 , wherein the plurality of the activation points extends straightly along the same side of the display and is arranged straightly in two lines with the gap between them.
