Abstract

A banknote, coin or other financial instrument information system recognizes a real world object relating to a money transaction and uses augmented, mixed and/or virtual reality to display information associated with the banknote and/or the transaction on a smart device such as a smartphone or AR glasses.

Claims (55)

1 . A method of presenting information to a single user comprising:

enabling capture by a portable camera of an image of an object having financial indicia disposed thereon, wherein the object comprises a printed or engraved banknote or a stamped coin;

recognizing the object based on compressed data obtained from an area of recognition that is only part of the object within the captured image, wherein recognizing does not require authenticating the banknote or stamped coin and achieves positive recognition based on counterfeit or other inauthentic banknotes;

matching the recognized object with a data record stored remotely to the portable camera and accessed over a network in response to the recognizing;

selecting an interactive media item in response to the matching without requiring the object to be or contain either an augmented reality marker or a bar code or otherwise be specially designed to be recognized by an augmented reality display device; and

superimposing, using at least one of augmented reality, mixed reality and virtual reality, the selected interactive media item onto a display of the captured image or an image derived therefrom such that the superimposed selected interactive media item is displayed as anchored to the displayed object and which remains anchored for different viewpoints of the portable camera.

2 . The method of claim 1 wherein the recognizing comprises recognizing a two-dimensional banknote object with print on it.

3 . The method of claim 1 wherein the object has indicia printed thereon, and the recognizing comprises recognizing at least some of the printed indicia.

4 . The method of claim 3 wherein the recognizing includes recognizing characters printed on the object.

5 . The method of claim 1 wherein the selected interactive media item comprises a digital overlay that leads to specific action selected from the group consisting of providing specific information; a video, tutorial, or any kind of displayable content.

6 . The method of claim 1 wherein the superimposing is performed on a handheld display device, a user's retina or smart glasses.

7 . The method of claim 1 wherein the selected interactive media item comprises a call button.

8 . The method of claim 1 further including superimposing any or all of the following action buttons in any combination or subcombination:

Advertisement,

Photo Gallery,

Videos,

Description,

Call,

Mail,

Shoplink,

Explanation,

Intro,

Social Media links,

Political Information,

Environmental information,

Information from the Government,

Bank Advertisements.

9 . A system for presenting information to a single user comprising:

a portable camera configured to capture an image of an object having financial indicia disposed thereon, wherein the object comprises a printed or engraved banknote or a stamped coin; and

at least one processor operatively connected to the portable camera, the at least one processor being configured to perform operations comprising:

recognizing the object based on compressed data obtained from an area of recognition that is only part of the object within the captured image wherein recognizing does not require authenticating the banknote or stamped coin and achieves positive recognition based on counterfeit or other inauthentic banknotes;

matching the recognized object with a data record stored remotely to the portable camera and accessed over a network in response to the recognizing;

selecting an interactive media item in response to the matching without requiring the object to be or contain either an augmented reality marker or a bar code or otherwise be specially designed to be recognized by an augmented reality display device; and

superimposing, using at least one of augmented reality, mixed reality and virtual reality, the selected interactive media item onto a display of the captured image or an image derived therefrom such that the superimposed selected interactive media item is displayed as anchored to the displayed object and which remains anchored for different viewpoints of the portable camera.

10 . The system of claim 9 wherein the recognizing comprises recognizing a two-dimensional banknote object with print on it.

11 . The system of claim 9 wherein the object has indicia printed thereon, and the recognizing comprises recognizing at least some of the printed indicia.

12 . The system of claim 11 wherein the recognizing includes recognizing characters printed on the object.

13 . The system of claim 9 wherein the selected interactive media item comprises a digital overlay that leads to specific action selected from the group consisting of providing specific information; a video, tutorial, or any kind of displayable content.

14 . The system of claim 9 wherein the superimposing is performed on a handheld display device, a user's retina or smart glasses.

15 . The system of claim 9 wherein the selected interactive media item comprises a call button.

16 . The system of claim 9 wherein the operations further include superimposing any or all of the following action buttons in any combination or subcombination:
