Lithium secondary battery
The present disclosure relates to a lithium secondary battery. Since the lithium secondary battery according to the present disclosure includes a lithium transition metal oxide having a stabilized lattice structure with a hetero-element introduced therein, gas generation during charging and discharging can be suppressed, and improved safety and lifespan can be achieved.
1 . A lithium secondary battery, comprising:
a positive electrode comprising a positive electrode material layer containing a positive electrode active material, a positive electrode additive, a conductive material, and a binder;
a negative electrode comprising a negative electrode material layer containing a negative electrode active material, a conductive material, and a binder;
a separator; and
an electrolyte;
wherein the positive electrode additive comprises a lithium transition metal oxide of the following Chemical Formula 1:
Li 6 Co 1-x-y Zn x M y O 4 [Chemical Formula 1]
in Chemical Formula 1,
M is a group 2 element, a group 13 element, a group 14 element, a 5th period transition metal, or a 6th period transition metal,
x is 0.01 to 0.7,
y is 0.01 to 0.2, and
0.05≤( x+y )≤0.80.
2 . The lithium secondary battery of claim 1 ,
wherein the group 2 element is at least one selected from the group consisting of Mg, Ca, Sr and Ba,
the group 13 element is at least one selected from the group consisting of Al, Ga and In,
the group 14 element is at least one selected from the group consisting of Si, Ge and Sn,
the 5th period transition metal is at least one selected from the group consisting of Y, Zr, Nb, Mo, Tc, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ag and Cd, and
the 6th period transition metal is at least one selected from the group consisting of Lu, Hf, Ta, W, Re, Os, Ir, Pt and Au.
3 . The lithium secondary battery of claim 1 ,
wherein the M is at least one selected from the group consisting of Al, Mg, Ti, Zr, Nb, and W.
4 . The lithium secondary battery of claim 1 ,

5 . The lithium secondary battery of claim 1 ,
wherein the positive electrode material layer comprises 80 wt % to 98 wt % of the positive electrode active material; more than 0 wt % and 15 wt % or less of the positive electrode additive; 0.5 wt % to 10 wt % of the conductive material; and 0.5 wt % to 10 wt % of the binder.
6 . The lithium secondary battery of claim 1 ,
wherein the conductive material is at least one compound selected from the group consisting of carbon black, acetylene black, ketjen black, channel black, furnace black, lamp black, summer black, carbon fiber, natural graphite, artificial graphite, copper powder, nickel powder, aluminum powder, silver powder, zinc oxide, potassium titanate, titanium oxide, and polyphenylene.
7 . The lithium secondary battery of claim 1 ,
wherein the binder is at least one compound selected from the group consisting of polyvinylidene fluoride, vinylidene fluoride-hexafluoropropylene copolymer, polyvinyl alcohol, polyacrylonitrile, carboxymethyl cellulose, starch, hydroxypropylcellulose, regenerated cellulose, polyvinylpyrrolidone, tetrafluoroethylene, polyethylene, polypropylene, ethylene-propylene-diene polymer (EPDM), sulfonated-EPDM, styrene-butadiene rubber, and fluororubber.
8 . The lithium secondary battery of claim 1 ,
wherein the negative active material is:
at least one carbonaceous material selected from the group consisting of natural graphite, artificial graphite, Kish graphite, pyrolytic carbon, mesophase pitches, mesophase pitch-based carbon fiber, meso-carbon microbeads, petroleum or coal tar pitch derived cokes, soft carbon, and hard carbon;
at least one silicon compound selected from the group consisting of Si, Si—C composite, SiOx (0<x<2), and Si-Q alloy, wherein the Q is an element selected from the group consisting of an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal, a group 13 element, a group 14 element, a group 15 element, a group 16 element, a transition metal, a rare earth element, and a combination thereof; but except for Si; or
a mixture of the carbonaceous material and the silicon compound.
9 . The lithium secondary battery of claim 1 ,
wherein the separator is a porous polymer film comprising polyethylene, polypropylene, ethylene-butene copolymer, ethylene-hexene copolymer, or ethylene-methacrylate copolymer.
10 . The lithium secondary battery of claim 1 ,
wherein the electrolyte comprises at least one lithium salt selected from the group consisting of LiPF 6 , LiClO 4 , LiAsF 6 , LiBF 4 , LiSbF 6 , LiAlO 4 , LiAlCl 4 , LiCF 3 SO 3 , LiC 4 F 9 SO 3 , LiN(C 2 F 5 SO 3 ) 2 , LiN(C 2 F 5 SO 2 ) 2 , LiN(CF 3 SO 2 ) 2 , LiN(SO 2 F) 2 , LiFSI (lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide), LiCl, LiI, and LiB(C 2 O4) 2 .
