Abstract

A Method and Apparatus for sidelink positioning is provided. The method includes receiving a SystemInformationBlock12 in a first cell, initiating sidelink positioning in the first cell if the SystemInformationBlock12 includes a sl-PositioningAllowed field set to a first value, and performing sidelink positioning based on a sidelink positioning resource pool or based on a specific sidelink resource pool. Configuration information of the specific sidelink resource pool includes sl_Pos_Allowed field set to a first value. The SystemInformationBlock12 includes a SL-ConfigCommonNR and a SL_Pos_ConfigCommon. The SL_Pos_ConfigCommon includes a one or more Sl_Pos_ResourcePool IEs.

Claims (30)

1 . A method performed by a target terminal, the method comprising:

performing, by the target terminal, a discovery procedure to determine a plurality of sidelink positioning terminals;

transmitting, by the target terminal to a Location Management Function (LMF), a first message to request assistance data, wherein the first message comprises:

a plurality of first identifiers, wherein the plurality of first identifiers are determined based on the plurality of sidelink positioning terminals determined from the discovery procedure; and

a parameter related to a request for a-sidelink positioning reference signal (SL-PRS) assistance data; and

transmitting, by the target terminal to the LMF, a second message to provide location information, wherein the second message comprises:

a parameter related to SL-PRS measurement results for Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP);

a parameter indicating an estimated likelihood of a line of sight path for SL-PRS measurement; and

a parameter indicating a system frame number at which SL-PRS measurement for RSRP is performed.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein:

a first identifier is assigned in a specific layer; and

the specific layer is a higher layer than a medium access control (MAC) layer.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein:

the specific layer resides in the target terminal and does not reside in a base station; and

the target terminal is connected to the base station.

4 . The method of claim 1 ,

wherein a first identifier of a specific sidelink positioning terminal and a layer 2 identifier of the specific sidelink positioning terminal are transmitted to the target terminal by the specific sidelink positioning terminal before the first message is transmitted.

5 . The method of claim 4 ,

wherein SL-PRS transmission is performed based on the layer 2 identifier of the specific sidelink positioning terminal.

6 . A terminal in a wireless communication system, the terminal comprising:

a transceiver configured to transmit and receive a signal; and

a controller configured to control the transceiver to:

perform a discovery procedure to determine a plurality of sidelink positioning terminals,

transmit to a Location Management Function (LMF) a first message to request assistance data, wherein the first message comprises:

a plurality of first identifiers, wherein the plurality of first identifiers are determined based on the plurality of sidelink positioning terminals determined from the discovery procedure; and

a parameter related to a request for sidelink positioning reference signal (SL-PRS) assistance data, and

transmit to the LMF, a second message to provide location information, wherein the second message comprises:

a parameter related to SL-PRS measurement results for Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP);

a parameter indicating an estimated likelihood of a line-of-sight path for SL-PRS measurement; and

a parameter indicating a system frame number at which SL-PRS measurement for RSRP is performed.
