Abstract

There is disclosed a method of operating a grouping node connected to a radio access network. The method includes grouping one or more radio nodes of the radio access network into one or more groups, wherein to each group there is associated one identity and/or a schedule of transmitting signaling an identity. The disclosure also pertains to related devices and methods.

Claims (50)

1 . A method of operating a grouping node connected to a radio access network, the method comprising:

grouping one or more radio nodes of the radio access network into one or more groups, each group having:

one associated identity, the associated identity corresponding to an identity indication configured for transmission by the grouping node; and

an associated schedule of transmitting the identity indication indicating the associated identity; and

the grouping being based on a time-shift.

2 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein different groups have at least one of different identities and different schedules.

3 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein transmitting an identity indication comprises at least one of:

transmitting reference signaling;

transmitting synchronisation signaling; and

carries an identity indication.

4 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein different schedules indicate different times of transmission of the identity indication.

5 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the radio nodes are operable on the same carrier.

6 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein a group comprises radio nodes having the same identity and different schedules.

7 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein grouping comprises, in response to receiving a BS-to-BS interference indication indicating at least one of an identity and interference timing, determining at least one of:

a group member as an interfering node; and

one of a subgroup and a group as an interfering group.

8 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein a group comprises one of 10 or more radio nodes, and 20 or more radio nodes.

9 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein grouping comprises indicating to one or more grouped radio nodes at least one of:

the group(s) they are grouped in;

the identity (ies) associated to the group(s); and

the schedule(s) associated to the group(s).

10 . A grouping node configured for connection to a radio access network, the grouping node being configured to:

group one or more radio nodes of the radio access network into one or more groups, each group having:

one associated identity, the associated identity corresponding to an identity indication configured for transmission by the grouping node; and

an associated schedule of transmitting the identity indication indicating the associated identity; and

the one or more groups being grouped based on a time-shift.

11 . A method of operating a radio node in a radio access network, the method comprising:

transmitting an identity indication based on at least one of a group and a schedule;

the at least one of the group and the schedule being associated to a group configured to the radio node, the identity indication indicating an identity of the group configured to the radio node; and

the group configured to the radio node being grouped based on a time-shift.

12 . The method according to claim 11 , wherein different groups have at least one of different identities and different schedules.

13 . The method according to claim 11 , wherein transmitting an identity indication comprises at least one of:

transmitting reference signaling;

transmitting synchronisation signaling; and

carries an identity indication.

14 . The method according to claim 11 , wherein different schedules indicate different times of transmission of the identity indication.

15 . The method according to claim 11 , wherein the radio nodes are operable on the same carrier.

16 . The method according to claim 11 , wherein a group comprises radio nodes having the same identity and different schedules.

17 . The method according to claim 11 , wherein grouping comprises, in response to receiving a BS-to-BS interference indication indicating at least one of an identity and interference timing, determining at least one of:

a group member as an interfering node; and

one of a subgroup and a group as an interfering group.

18 . The method according to claim 11 , wherein a group comprises one of 10 or more radio nodes, and 20 or more radio nodes.

19 . A radio node for a radio access network, the radio node being configured to:

transmit an identity indication based on at least one of a group and a schedule;

the at least one of the group and the schedule being associated to a group configured to the radio node, the identity indication indicating an identity of the group configured to the radio node; and

the group configured to the radio node being grouped based on a time-shift.

20 . A non-transitory computer storage medium storing executable program instructions for causing processing circuitry to at least one of control and perform a method grouping one or more radio nodes of a radio access network into one or more groups, each group having:

one associated identity, the associated identity corresponding to an identity indication configured for transmission by a grouping node;

an associated schedule of transmitting the identity indication indicating the associated identity; and

the grouping being based on a time-shift.
