Oxadiazole compounds for controlling or preventing phytopathogenic fungi
The present invention discloses a compound of formula (I), wherein, R 1 , L 1 , A, L 2 , W 1 , R 2f , R 3f , Q, and R 10 are as defined in the detailed description. The present invention also relates to a process for preparing the compound of formula (I).
1 . A compound of formula (I),

R 1 is C 1 -C 2 -haloalkyl;
L 1 is a direct bond;
L 2 is a direct bond-;
A is an aromatic carbocyclic ring or 5- or 6-membered aromatic heterocyclic ring, wherein the heteroatoms of the aromatic heterocyclic ring are selected from N, O and S; and ring A is optionally substituted with one or more identical or different groups of R A ;
R A is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, cyano, amino, hydroxy, C 1 -C 6 -alkyl, C 2 -C 6 -alkenyl, C 2 -C 6 -alkynyl, C 3 -C 8 -cycloalkyl, C 3 -C 8 -cycloalkylalkyl, C 1 -C 6 -haloalkyl, C 1 -C 6 -alkoxy-C 1 -C 4 -alkyl, C 1 -C 6 -hydroxyalkyl, C 3 -C 8 -halocycloalkyl, C 1 -C 6 -alkoxy, or C 1 -C 6 -haloalkoxy;
R 4b is selected from the group of consisting of hydrogen, C 1 -C 6 -alkyl, C 1 -C 6 -haloalkyl, C 1 -C 6 -alkoxy, and C 1 -C 6 -haloalkoxy;
R 2d , R 3d , R 2f and R 3f are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, C 1 -C 4 -alkyl, C 1 -C 4 -haloalkyl, C 1 -C 4 -alkoxy and C 1 -C 4 -haloalkoxy;
W 1 is O;
Q is O, S(═O) 0-2 , S(═O) 0-1 (═NR 4b ), NR 4b , -N═S(=NR 8a )(R 8b )-; or -N═S(═O) 0-1 (R 8c )-;

Z 1 is a direct bond, CR 2d R 3d , NH, O, C(O), or S(O) 0-2 ;
Q 1 is selected from phenyl, benzyl, naphthalenyl, a 5- or 6-membered heteroaromatic ring, or an 8- to 11-membered heteroaromatic fused ring system; wherein the heteroatom of the heteroaromatic rings is selected from N, O or S, and each ring or ring system may be optionally substituted with one or more groups of R 7 ; or
Q 1 is selected from a 3- to 7-membered non-aromatic carbocyclic ring, a 4-, 5-, 6- or 7-membered non-aromatic heterocyclic ring, or an 8- to 15-membered non-aromatic fused ring system, wherein the heteroatom of the non-aromatic rings is selected from N, O or S(O) 0-2 , and C ring member of the non-aromatic carbocylic or non-aromatic heterocyclic rings or ring systems may be replaced with C(O) and each ring or ring system may be optionally substituted with one or more groups of R 7 ;
R 7 is selected from hydrogen, halogen, hydroxy, cyano, C 1 -C 6 -alkyl, C 2 -C 6 -alkenyl, C 2 -C 6 -alkynyl, C 1 -C 6 -haloalkyl, C 3 -C 8 -cycloalkyl, C 3 -C 8 -halocycloalkyl, C 1 -C 6 -alkoxy, C 1 -C 6 -alkoxy-C 1 -C 6 -alkyl, C 1 -C 6 -alkylamino, di-C 1 -C 6 -alkylamino, C 3 -C 8 -cycloalkylamino, C 1 -C 6 -alkylthio, C 1 -C 6 -haloalkylthio, C 3 -C 8 -cycloalkylthio, C 1 -C 6 -alkylsulfinyl, C 1 -C 6 -haloalkylsulfinyl, C 1 -C 6 -alkylsulfonyl, C 1 -C 6 -haloalkylsulfonyl, C 3 -C 8 -cycloalkylsulfonyl, C 3 -C 8 -cycloalkylsulfinyl, or —OR 12 ; or
R 4b and R 10 together with the atoms to which they are attached may form 3- to 8-membered non-aromatic heterocyclic ring or ring system, wherein the said heterocyclic ring or ring system optionally contains one or two additional heteroatom selected from the group consisting of N, O and S(O) 0-2 , and C ring member of the heterocyclic ring or ring system may be replaced with C(O), and said heterocyclic ring or ring system may be optionally substituted with halogen, cyano, C 1 -C 4 -alkyl, C 1 -C 4 -haloalkyl, C 1 -C 4 -alkoxy or C 1 -C 4 -haloalkoxy;
R 12 is selected from the group consisting of C 1 -C 6 -alkyl, C 1 -C 6 -haloalkyl, C 3 -C 8 -cycloalkyl and C 3 -C 8 -halocycloalkyl;
R 13 and R 14 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C 1 -C 6 -alkyl, C 1 -C 6 -haloalkyl, C 1 -C 6 -alkoxy, C 3 -C 8 -cycloalkyl, C 3 -C 8 -halocycloalkyl, phenyl and 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring; wherein said phenyl, or 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring may be optionally substituted with halogen, C 1 -C 6 -alkyl, C 1 -C 6 -haloalkyl, and C 1 -C 6 -alkoxy; or
R 13 and R 14 together with the N atom to which they are attached may form a 3- to 7-membered heterocyclic ring; wherein the said heterocyclic ring optionally comprises an additional heteroatom selected from N, O or S(O) 0-2 , and C ring member of the heterocyclic ring may be replaced with C(O), wherein the said heterocyclic ring may be optionally substituted with halogen, C 1 -C 6 -alkyl, C 1 -C 6 -haloalkyl, or C 1 -C 6 -alkoxy;
R 15 represents hydrogen, hydroxy, halogen, amino, C 1 -C 6 -alkylamino, di-C 1 -C 6 -alkylamino, C 1 -C 6 -alkyl, C 1 -C 6 -haloalkyl, C 1 -C 6 -alkoxy, C 1 -C 6 -haloalkoxy, C 3 -C 8 -cycloalkyl, phenyl, 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring, wherein said phenyl, or 5- to 6-membered heterocyclic ring may be optionally substituted with halogen, C 1 -C 6 -alkyl, C 1 -C 6 -haloalkyl, or C 1 -C 6 -alkoxy,
or agriculturally acceptable salts thereof.
2 . The compound of formula (I) as claimed in claim 1 , wherein,
R 1 is C 1 -haloalkyl, wherein halogen is chlorine or fluorine;
L 1 is a direct bond;
L 2 is a direct bond;
A is a 6-membered aromatic carbocyclic ring or 5 to 6-membered aromatic heterocyclic ring, wherein the heteroatom of the aromatic heterocyclic ring is selected from N, O and S; and A is optionally substituted with one or more identical or different groups of R A ;
R A is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, C 1 -C 6 -alkyl, C 1 -C 6 -haloalkyl, C 1 -C 6 -alkoxy, and C 1 -C 6 -haloalkoxy;
W 1 is O;
Q is O, S(═O) 0-2 , or NR 4b ;

3 . The compound of formula (I) as claimed in claim 1 , wherein,
R 1 is C 1 -haloalkyl, wherein halogen is chlorine or fluorine;
L 1 is a direct bond;
L 2 is a direct bond;
A is phenyl or pyridyl; wherein said phenyl or pyridyl ring may be optionally substituted with one or more identical or different groups of R A ;
R A is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, C 1 -C 6 -alkyl, C 1 -C 6 -haloalkyl, and C 1 -C 6 -alkoxy;
W 1 is O;
Q is O, S(═O) 0-2 , or NR 4b ;

5 . A composition for controlling or preventing fungal diseases in plants, wherein said composition comprises the compound of formula (I) as claimed in claim 1 and at least one agrochemically acceptable auxiliary.
6 . A method for controlling or preventing fungal diseases in plants, the method comprising: applying the composition of claim 5 to a plant, wherein the fungal diseases in plants are caused by rust pathogens selected from Hemileia vastatrix for coffee rust, Uromyces appendiculatus/phaseoli or Uromyces fabae for rust of beans, Puccinia spp. for rusts or Phakopsora spp.
7 . A method for controlling or preventing phytopathogenic fungi, wherein the method comprises treating the fungi, plants, plant parts, locus thereof, soil, seeds or materials to be protected against fungal attack, with an effective amount of at least one compound of formula (I) claimed in claim 1 .
8 . A method for controlling or preventing infestation of plants by phytopathogenic fungi in agricultural crops and or horticultural crops wherein an effective amount of at least one compound of formula (I) claimed in claim 1 , is applied to the seeds of plants.
9 . A process for preparing a compound of formula (I) as claimed in claim 1 , wherein said process comprises the steps of:
a) protecting the carbonyl group of a compound of formula 1 by using a suitable protecting agent to afford a compound of formula 2;
b) reacting the compound of formula 2 with a hydroxyl amine to afford a compound of formula 3;
c) reacting the compound of formula 3 with a suitable carboxylic acid anhydride of formula (a) or carboxylic acid chloride of formula fb to afford a compound of formula 4;
d) deprotecting the compound of formula 4 in the presence of a suitable deprotecting agent to afford compound of formula 5;
e) halogenating the compound of formula 5 in the presence of a suitable halogenating agent to afford a compound of formula 6;
f) reacting the compound of formula 6 with the compound of formula (c) to afford a compound of formula (I);
wherein A, —W 1 , R 1 , R 2f , R 3f , L 1 , L 2 , Q and R 10 , are as defined in claim 1 ; and X is Br, Cl or I.
10 . A process for the synthesis of compound of formula (I) as claimed in claim 1 , wherein said process comprises the steps of:
a) reacting a compound of formula 7 with a compound of formula (e) to afford a compound of formula 8;
b) reacting the compound of formula 8 with a hydroxyl amine to afford a compound of formula 9;
c) reacting the compound of formula 9 with a suitable carboxylic acid anhydride of formula (a) or a carboxylic acid chloride of formula (b) to afford a compound of formula 10;
d) halogenating the compound of formula 10 in the presence of suitable halogenating agent to afford compound of formula 6;
e) reacting the compound of formula 6 with a compound of formula (c) to afford a compound of formula (I);
wherein A, W 1 , R 1 , R 2f , R 3f , L 1 , L 2 , Q and R 10 , are as defined in claim 1 ; and X is Br, Cl or I.
11 . A process for the synthesis of compound of formula (I) as claimed in claim 1 , wherein said process comprises the steps of:
a) reacting the compound of formula 11 with hydroxyl amine to afford compound of formula 12;
b) reacting the compound of formula 12 with a suitable carboxylic acid anhydride of formula (a) or a carboxylic acid chloride of formula (b) to afford a compound of formula 13;
c) reacting the compound of formula 13 with of a suitable oxidizing agent to afford a compound of formula 14;
d) hydrolyzing the compound of formula 14 in the presence of a suitable hydrolyzing agent to afford a compound formula 15;
e) oxidizing the compound of formula 15 in the presence of a suitable oxidizing agent to afford a compound of formula 16;
f) reacting the compound of formula 16 with a compound of formula (c) to afford a compound of formula (I);
wherein A, W 1 , R 1 , R 2f , R 3f , L 1 , L 2 , Q and R 10 , are as defined in claim 1 .
12 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the Puccinia spp. is selected from P. triticina for brown or leaf rust, P. striiformis for stripe or yellow rust, P. hordei for dwarf rust, P. graminis for stem or black rust or P. recondita for brown or leaf rust, on cereals selected from wheat, barley or rye.
13 . The method of claim 6 , wherein Phakopsora spp. is selected from Phakopsora pachyrhizi or P. meibomiae for soybean rust.
14 . The compound of claim 1 , wherein Q is O, S(═O) 0-2 , S(O) 0-1 (═NR4b), or NR 4b .
