Aerosol provision system
A non-combustible aerosol provision system is described including an article ( 1 ) having an aerosol generating material ( 3 ) and a mouthpiece ( 2 ) downstream of the aerosol generating material, wherein the aerosol generating material provides an aerosol when heated and the mouthpiece comprises a capsule ( 11 ) and the part of the mouthpiece in which the capsule is located reaches a temperature of between 58 and 70 degrees Centigrade during use of the system to generate an aerosol. The burst strength of the capsule when located within the mouthpiece and prior to heating of the aerosol generating material can be between 1500 and 4000 grams force and the burst strength of the capsule within 30 seconds of use of the system to generate an aerosol can be between 1000 and 4000 grams force.
1 . A non-combustible aerosol provision system comprising an aerosol provision device, an article having an aerosol generating material and a mouthpiece downstream of the aerosol generating material, wherein:
the aerosol generating material provides an aerosol when heated by the aerosol provision device; and
the mouthpiece comprises a capsule and a part of the mouthpiece in which the capsule is located reaches a temperature of between 58 and 70 degrees Centigrade during use of the system to generate the aerosol,
wherein a pressure drop across the mouthpiece is less than about 40 mmH 2 O, and
wherein ventilation is provided into the mouthpiece, and
wherein the aerosol generating material comprises at least 5% by weight of an aerosol forming material, wherein the aerosol forming material comprises at least one selected from a group consisting of glycerine, glycerol, propylene glycol, a combination of glycerol and propylene glycol, diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, tetraethylene glycol, 1,3-butylene glycol, erythritol, meso-Erythritol, ethyl vanillate, ethyl laurate, a diethyl suberate, triethyl citrate, triacetin, a diacetin mixture, benzyl benzoate, benzyl phenyl acetate, tributyrin, lauryl acetate, lauric acid, myristic acid and propylene carbonate;
wherein a largest cross sectional area of the capsule measured perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of the mouthpiece is less than 28% of a cross sectional area of the body of material measured perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of the mouthpiece.
2 . A non-combustible aerosol provision system comprising an aerosol provision device, an article having an aerosol generating material and a mouthpiece downstream of the aerosol generating material, wherein:
the aerosol generating material provides an aerosol when heated by the aerosol provision device;
the mouthpiece comprises a capsule which is breakable by external force applied to the mouthpiece;
a part of the mouthpiece in which the capsule is located reaches a temperature of greater than 58 degrees Centigrade during use of the system to generate the aerosol;
a first burst strength of the capsule when located within the mouthpiece and prior to heating of the aerosol generating material is between 1500 and 4000 grams force; and
a second burst strength of the capsule when located within the mouthpiece and within 30 s of use of the system to generate the aerosol is between 1000 and 4000 grams force,
wherein a pressure drop across the mouthpiece is less than about 40 mmH 2 O, and
wherein ventilation is provided into the mouthpiece;
wherein a largest cross sectional area of the capsule measured perpendicularly to a longitudinal axis of the mouthpiece is less than 28% of a cross sectional area of the body of material measured perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of the mouthpiece.

A system according to claim 2 , wherein the first burst strength of the capsule when located within the mouthpiece and prior to heating of the aerosol generating material is between 2000 and 3500 grams force, and wherein the second burst strength of the capsule when located within the mouthpiece and within 30 s of use of the system to generate the aerosol is between 1500 and 4000 grams force.
4 . A system according to claim 1 , wherein the mouthpiece comprises a body of material in the form of a cylinder having a longitudinal axis and the capsule is embedded within the body of material such that the capsule is surrounded on all sides by material of the body of material.
5 . A system according to claim 4 , wherein the capsule has a shell encapsulating a liquid aerosol modifying agent.
6 . A system according to claim 4 , wherein the body of material is formed from filamentary tow having a denier per filament of between 5 and 12 and a total denier of between 8,000 and 30,000.
7 . A system according to claim 6 , wherein the filamentary tow comprises cellulose acetate tow.
8 . A system according to claim 4 , wherein the body of material has an outer circumference between about 19 mm and about 23 mm.
9 . A system according to claim 1 , wherein a pressure drop across the mouthpiece is greater than about 15 mmH 2 O and less than about 40 mmH 2 O.
10 . A system according to claim 1 , wherein an open pressure drop across the article changes by less than about 8 mmH 2 O.
11 . A system according to claim 1 , wherein the mouthpiece comprises a hollow tubular element formed from filamentary tow at a downstream end of the mouthpiece.
12 . A system according to claim 1 , wherein the aerosol provision device is configured to heat the aerosol generating material to a maximum temperature of at least about 160° C.

A system according to claim 1 , wherein the aerosol provision device comprises a coil, and at least one electrically-conductive heating element for heating the aerosol generating material and wherein the coil is configured, in use, to cause heating of the at least one electrically-conductive heating element.
14 . A system according to claim 1 , wherein the article has a closed pressure drop of between 150 mmH 2 O and 300 mmH 2 O.
15 . A system according to claim 1 , wherein the aerosol generating material is in the form of a substantially cylindrical rod of between about 10 mm and 100 mm in length.
16 . A system according to claim 1 , wherein the aerosol generating material comprises greater than 5 mg of an aerosol modifying agent.
17 . A system according to claim 1 , wherein the aerosol generating material is wrapped in a wrapper having a permeability of less than 100 Coresta Units.
18 . A system according to claim 1 , wherein the aerosol generating material comprises reconstituted tobacco material having a density of less than about 700 milligrams per cubic centimeter.

A system according to claim 1 , wherein the aerosol generating material comprises a tobacco component, wherein the tobacco component comprises leaf tobacco in an amount of between about 10% and about 90% by weight of the tobacco component and wherein the leaf tobacco has a nicotine content of greater than 1.5% by weight of the leaf tobacco.

A system according to claim 19 , wherein the leaf tobacco comprises at least a portion of an aerosol forming material in an amount of up to about 10% by weight of the leaf tobacco, and wherein the tobacco component comprises said aerosol forming material in an amount between about 10% and about 30% by weight of tobacco composition.
21 . A system according to claim 1 , wherein the mouthpiece comprises a cavity having an internal volume greater than 450 mm 3 .
22 . A system according to claim 11 , wherein an outer surface of the mouthpiece at a longitudinal position corresponding to a location of the hollow tubular element reaches a maximum temperature of less than 42° C. during use.
