Abstract

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for enabling ultraviolet radiation treatments are provided.

Claims (49)

1 . A method for configuring a device to generate an image, the method comprising:

configuring a positron emission tomography-computed tomography (“PET/CT”) device to detect, in an intracellular volume, intracellular, positron-emitting nuclei that:

are within cells that express a certain cell surface receptor; and

gained access to the intracellular volume via cell surface receptor-mediated endocytosis;

using the configured device to detect the positron-emitting nuclei;

using the detected positron-emitting nuclei to generate an image; and

using the generated image to define a treatment volume.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the configuring the device comprises adjusting image acquisition time according to an anticipated density of positron-emitting nuclei.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the adjusting comprises adjusting to a longer image acquisition time for a lower density of nuclei.

4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the adjusting comprises adjusting to a shorter image acquisition time for a higher density of nuclei.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the configuring the device comprises setting the start of scanning from the skull when the anticipated and preferred region of imaging is above the horizontal midline of the complete imaged volume.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the configuring the device comprises setting the start of scanning from the mid-thigh when the anticipated and preferred region of imaging is below the horizontal midline of the complete imaged volume.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the certain cell surface receptor is one of the following:

FOLH1;

HER-2;

CD3;

CD19;

CD20;

CD22;

CD33;

CD40;

CD45;

CD74;

MUC1;

IL-15R;

HLA-DR;

erbB2;

EGP-1;

EGP-2;

G250;

PSA;

PAP;

fibroblast activation protein (FAP);

placental alkaline phosphatase;

ACE2; or

Somatostatin.

8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining a mass geometry of the defined treatment volume.

9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising using the defined treatment volume for surgical treatment planning.

10 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising using the defined treatment volume for cytotoxic pharmaceutical treatment planning.

11 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising using the defined treatment volume for radiopharmaceutical treatment planning.

12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein further comprising using the defined treatment volume for radiation treatment planning.

13 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising using the defined treatment volume for extracorporeal treatment planning.

14 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising using the defined treatment volume for energy-based treatment planning.

15 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining a virtual geometry of the defined treatment volume.

16 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the cells belong to one of the six Kingdoms of Life.

17 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the cells are of a plant.

18 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the cells are of a fungi.

19 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the cells are of a bacteria.

20 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the cells are of a protozoa.
