Coated subcutaneous device and inserter system
A medical device and an inserter device for subcutaneously inserting at least a portion of the medical device, the medical device including a port site having a cavity with an antimicrobial coating positioned on the cavity and a subcutaneous part. The subcutaneous part is securable to the port site. The subcutaneous part includes a body part having a ribbed portion with the antimicrobial coating positioned on the ribbed portion, and wherein the ribbed portion is configured to maintain the body part within the cavity. The body part is not located in the cavity of the port site in a shelf state before activation of the inserter device, and an inserted position, following the activation of the inserter device, a cannula is inserted into a patient's skin, and the body part is located in the cavity of the port site securing the subcutaneous part to the port site.
1 . A medical device and an inserter device for subcutaneously inserting at least a portion of the medical device, the medical device and the inserter device comprising:
a port site having a cavity with an antimicrobial coating positioned on the cavity;
a subcutaneous part, the subcutaneous part being securable by the inserter device to the port site and the subcutaneous part comprising a body part having a ribbed portion with the antimicrobial coating positioned on the ribbed portion, and wherein the ribbed portion is configured to maintain the body part within the cavity; and
wherein the body part is not located in the cavity of the port site in a shelf state before activation of the inserter device, and
wherein in an inserted position, following the activation of the inserter device, a cannula is inserted into a patient's skin and the body part is located in the cavity of the port site securing the subcutaneous part to the port site.

The medical device and the inserter device of claim 1 , wherein the inserter device includes an outer part having two release elements, and a housing, wherein the housing is partly covered by the outer part, and the subcutaneous part is accommodated in the housing, wherein the subcutaneous part includes the body part and the cannula, and pressing the two release elements together activates the inserter device to extend the cannula through the port site to the inserted position.

The medical device and the inserter device of claim 2 , wherein the outer part includes an engaging device coupled to the two release elements and a locking element coupled to the engaging device, wherein the pressing of the two release elements together deforms the engaging device to activate the inserter device.

The medical device and the inserter device of claim 3 , wherein the locking element includes a first locking element spaced from a second locking element and a distance between the first locking element and the second locking element in a second position is greater than a distance between the first locking element and the second locking element in a first position.
5 . The medical device and the inserter device of claim 4 , wherein the housing supports an insertion spring located between a first part and the outer part, wherein the insertion spring includes an insertion spring pre-loaded position in the shelf state.

The medical device and the inserter device of claim 5 , wherein the insertion spring includes an activated position provided by the second position of the first locking element and the second locking element, wherein in the activated position the cannula is extended through the port site to the inserted position.
7 . The medical device and the inserter device of claim 6 , wherein the inserter device includes a second part and a retraction spring, wherein the second part fits inside the first part and the retraction spring is located between the first part and the second part.
8 . The medical device and the inserter device of claim 7 , wherein the retraction spring is in a retraction spring pre-loaded position in the shelf state.
9 . The medical device and the inserter device of claim 8 , wherein the second part includes locking members configured to engage a support rim of the first part.

The medical device and the inserter device of claim 9 , wherein an insertion needle is attached to the second part and the cannula is configured to receive the insertion needle, wherein when the insertion needle is inserted in the patient and has not returned to a retracted position, the insertion spring is in an insertion spring relaxed position and the retraction spring is in the retraction spring pre-loaded position.
11 . The medical device and the inserter device of claim 10 , wherein the second part includes an inclining guide member located between the locking members, wherein the first part includes a recess facilitating space for the inclining guide member.
12 . The medical device and the inserter device of claim 1 wherein the medical device and the inserter device are disposable.
13 . An inserter device for automatic insertion and automatic retraction of an insertion needle for subcutaneously inserting a cannula, the inserter device comprising:
a medical device comprising
a port site including a cavity with an antimicrobial coating positioned on the cavity, and
a subcutaneous part including the cannula and a body part having a ribbed portion with the antimicrobial coating positioned on the ribbed portion, the body part being securable to the port site upon activation of the inserter device, wherein the ribbed portion is configured to maintain the body part within the cavity;
an outer part including release elements and a locking element, wherein pressing the release elements together activates the inserter device;
a housing partly covered by the outer part; and
a functional part located within the housing, the functional part including a first part, a second part having the insertion needle attached to the second part, an insertion spring, and a retraction spring,
wherein the locking element provides a pre-loaded shelf position of the inserter device wherein the body part is not located in the cavity of the port site in the pre-loaded shelf position before the activation of the inserter device, and following the activation of the inserter device, the cannula is inserted in a patient's skin and the body part is located in the cavity of the port site.

The inserter device of claim 13 wherein the first part includes locking members configured to engage with the locking element, and the first part supports the insertion spring located between the first part and the outer part, wherein the pre-loaded shelf position secures the insertion spring at an insertion spring pre-loaded position in a shelf state.
15 . The inserter device of claim 14 , wherein the outer part includes a protruding annular collar where the insertion spring is positioned.
16 . The inserter device of claim 15 , wherein the second part fits inside the first part and the retraction spring is located between the first part and the second part.
17 . The inserter device of claim 16 , wherein the retraction spring is in a retraction spring pre-loaded position in the shelf state.
18 . The inserter device of claim 17 , wherein the second part includes locking members configured to engage a support rim of the first part.
19 . The inserter device of claim 18 , wherein the cannula is configured to receive the insertion needle, and wherein when the insertion needle is inserted in the patient and has not returned to a retracted position, the insertion spring is in an insertion spring relaxed position and the retraction spring is in the retraction spring pre-loaded position.
20 . The inserter device of claim 13 , wherein the inserter device is disposable.
