Abstract

A personalization system for a vehicle includes an image-capture device configured to capture a plurality of images of one or more occupants in the vehicle and control circuitry configured to estimate a plurality of Z-heights of a plurality of body portions of each of the one or more occupants from a reference position in the vehicle, based on the plurality of images captured from the image-capture device, determine an associative relationship between the plurality of Z-heights of the plurality of body portions of each of the one or more occupants in the vehicle and a plurality of in-vehicle systems, based on defined user-preferences, and control the plurality of in-vehicle systems to direct an output from a corresponding in-vehicle system to a specific body portion of each of the one or more occupants in the vehicle, based on the estimated plurality of Z-heights and the determined associative relationship.

Claims (38)

1 . A method implemented by one or more processors included in a vehicle, the method comprising:

capturing, by an image-capture device in the vehicle, a plurality of images of an occupant in the vehicle;

identifying a user profile associated with the occupant based on one or more of the plurality of images, wherein the user profile defines user-preferences for the occupant comprising settings for a plurality of in-vehicle systems;

associating a first of the in-vehicle systems with a first body portion of the occupant and a second of the in-vehicle systems with a second body portion of the occupant in accordance with the settings, wherein the first of the in-vehicle systems is a Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system;

tracking, based on the plurality of images, a Z-height of the first body portion and a Z-height of the second body portion;

controlling the first of the in-vehicle systems to direct output to the first body portion of the occupant based on the tracked Z-height of the first body portion and the user-preferences and the second of the in-vehicle systems to direct output to the second body portion of the occupant based on the tracked Z-height of the second body portion and the user-preferences; and

presenting a user interface via a display of the vehicle, wherein the user interface includes information from one or more of the user-preferences defined in the user profile.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the vehicle includes a second occupant, and wherein the method further comprises tracking a Z-height of a body portion of the second occupant.

3 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising identifying a second profile associated with the second occupant, and wherein at least a portion of the settings for the occupant is different than for the second occupant.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second of the in-vehicle systems is a vehicle audio system.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the occupant is identified based on facial recognition.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising playing a customized greeting for the occupant from a vehicle audio system.

7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

setting a destination for the vehicle to autonomously navigate towards; and

storing, in a memory, one or more of (1) a time or a day of boarding by the occupant, or (2) a duration of a trip to the destination.

8 . The method of claim 7 , further comprising requesting confirmation, from the occupant, for an autonomous ride to the destination.

9 . A system comprising one or more processors and non-transitory computer storage media storing instructions that when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:

capture, by an image-capture device in a vehicle, a plurality of images of an occupant in the vehicle;

identify a user profile associated with the occupant based on one or more of the plurality of images, and wherein the user profile defines user-preferences for the occupant comprising settings for a plurality of in-vehicle systems;

associate a first of the in-vehicle systems with a first body portion of the occupant and a second of the in-vehicle systems with a second body portion of the occupant in accordance with the settings, wherein the first of the in-vehicle systems is a Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system;

track, based on the plurality of images, a Z-height of the first body portion and a Z-height of the second body portion;

control the first of the in-vehicle systems to direct output to the first body portion of the occupant based on the tracked Z-height of the first body portion and the user-preferences and the second of the in-vehicle systems to direct output to the second body portion of the occupant based on the tracked Z-height of the second body portion and the user-preferences; and

present a user interface via a display of the vehicle, wherein the user interface includes information from one or more of the user-preferences defined in the user profile.

10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the vehicle includes a second occupant, and wherein the instructions further cause the one or more processors to track a Z-height of a body portion of the second occupant.

11 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the instructions further cause the one or more processors to identify a second profile associated with the second occupant, and wherein at least a portion of the settings for the occupant is different than for the second occupant.

12 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the occupant is identified based on facial recognition.

13 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the instructions further cause the one or more processors to output a customized greeting for the occupant from a vehicle audio system.

14 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the instructions further cause the one or more processors to:

set a destination for the vehicle to autonomously navigate towards; and

store, in a memory, one or more of (1) a time or a day of boarding by the occupant, or (2) a duration of a trip to the destination.

15 . The system of claim 14 , wherein the instructions further cause the one or more processors to request confirmation, from the occupant, for an autonomous ride to the destination.

16 . Non-transitory computer storage media storing instructions that when executed by a system of one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:

capture, by an image-capture device in a vehicle, a plurality of images of an occupant in the vehicle;

identify a user profile associated with the occupant based on one or more of the plurality of images, and wherein the user profile defines user-preferences for the occupant comprising settings for a plurality of in-vehicle systems;

associate a first of the in-vehicle systems with a first body portion of the occupant and a second of the in-vehicle systems with a second body portion of the occupant in accordance with the settings, wherein the first of the in-vehicle systems is a Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system;

track, based on the plurality of images, a Z-height of the first body portion and a Z-height of the second body portion;

control the first of the in-vehicle systems to direct output to the first body portion of the occupant based on the tracked Z-height of the first body portion and the user-preferences and the second of the in-vehicle systems to direct output to the second body portion of the occupant based on the tracked Z-height of the second body portion and the user-preferences; and

present a user interface via a display of the vehicle, wherein the user interface includes information from one or more of the user-preferences defined in the user profile.
