Abstract

A vehicle system includes a vehicle including a sensor and processing circuitry including a memory onboard the vehicle. The processing circuitry is configured to receive a first data point, a second data point, and a third data point regarding the condition from the sensor at different times, record the first data point of the sensor data in the memory, determine, based on a comparison of the second data point and the first data point, that the second data point should not be recorded in the memory, record the third data point in the memory in response to a determination based on a comparison of the third data point and the first data point, and transmit the first data point and the third data point from the memory to the remote device.

Claims (116)

1 . A vehicle system comprising:

a vehicle including:

a chassis;

a tractive element coupled to the chassis;

a prime mover configured to drive the tractive element to propel the vehicle; and

a sensor configured to acquire sensor data regarding a condition of the vehicle; and

processing circuitry including a memory onboard the vehicle, the processing circuitry being configured to:

receive a first data point, a second data point, and a third data point regarding the condition from the sensor at different times;

record the first data point of the sensor data in the memory;

compare the second data point and the first data point, the comparison of the second data point and the first data point includes determining a difference between a measured value of the first data point and a measured value of the second data point;

determine, based on the comparison of the second data point and the first data point, that the second data point should not be recorded in the memory in response to the difference being less than a predetermined threshold difference;

compare the third data point and the first data point;

record the third data point in the memory in response to a determination based on the comparison of the third data point and the first data point; and

transmit the first data point and the third data point from the memory to a remote device.

2 . The vehicle system of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuitry is configured to record the third data point in the memory in response to a determination that the third data point has changed relative to the first data point.

3 . The vehicle system of claim 1 , wherein the remote device is a server, and wherein the processing circuitry is configured to transmit the first data point and the third data point to the server through a network.

4 . The vehicle system of claim 1 , further comprising a ladder assembly coupled to the chassis and an actuator configured to reposition the ladder assembly relative to the chassis, wherein the condition of the vehicle is a position of the ladder assembly relative to the chassis.

5 . The vehicle system of claim 1 , wherein the sensor is a location sensor configured to indicate a location of the vehicle, and wherein the condition of the vehicle is the location of the vehicle.

6 . The vehicle system of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuitry is configured to cause a user device to display a graphical user interface including the first data point and the third data point.

7 . A vehicle system comprising:

a vehicle including:

a chassis;

a tractive element coupled to the chassis;

a prime mover configured to drive the tractive element to propel the vehicle; and

a sensor configured to acquire sensor data regarding a condition of the vehicle; and

processing circuitry including a memory onboard the vehicle, the processing circuitry being configured to:

receive a first data point, a second data point, and a third data point regarding the condition from the sensor at different times;

record the first data point of the sensor data in the memory;

compare the second data point and the first data point, the comparison of the second data point and the first data point includes calculating a rate of change of a measured value of the sensor between the first data point and the second data point;

determine, based on the comparison of the second data point and the first data point, that the second data point should not be recorded in the memory in response a determination that the rate of change is less than a predetermined threshold rate;

compare the third data point and the first data point;

record the third data point in the memory in response to a determination based on the comparison of the third data point and the first data point; and

transmit the first data point and the third data point from the memory to a remote device.

8 . A vehicle system comprising:

a vehicle including:

a chassis;

a tractive element coupled to the chassis;

a prime mover configured to drive the tractive element to propel the vehicle; and

a sensor configured to acquire sensor data regarding a condition of the vehicle; and

processing circuitry including a memory onboard the vehicle, the processing circuitry being configured to:

receive a first data point, a second data point, and a third data point regarding the condition from the sensor at different times;

record the first data point of the sensor data in the memory;

compare the second data point and the first data point;

determine, based on the comparison of the second data point and the first data point, that the second data point should not be recorded in the memory;

compare the third data point and the first data point, the comparison of the third data point and the first data point includes determining a difference between a measured value of the first data point and a measured value of the third data point;

record the third data point in the memory in response to a determination based on the comparison of the third data point and the first data point, a determination that the third data point has changed relative to the first data point, and a determination that the difference is greater than a predetermined threshold difference; and

transmit the first data point and the third data point from the memory to a remote device.

9 . A vehicle system comprising:

a vehicle including:

a chassis;

a tractive element coupled to the chassis;

a prime mover configured to drive the tractive element to propel the vehicle; and

a sensor configured to acquire sensor data regarding a condition of the vehicle; and

processing circuitry including a memory onboard the vehicle, the processing circuitry being configured to:

receive a first data point, a second data point, and a third data point regarding the condition from the sensor at different times;

record the first data point of the sensor data in the memory;

compare the second data point and the first data point;

determine, based on the comparison of the second data point and the first data point, that the second data point should not be recorded in the memory;

compare the third data point and the first data point, the comparison of the third data point and the first data point includes calculating a rate of change of a measured value of the sensor between the first data point and the third data point:

record the third data point in the memory in response to a determination based on the comparison of the third data point and the first data point, a determination that the third data point has changed relative to the first data point, and a determination that the rate of change is greater than a predetermined threshold rate; and

transmit the first data point and the third data point from the memory to a remote device.

10 . A vehicle system comprising:

a vehicle including:

a chassis;

a tractive element coupled to the chassis;

a prime mover configured to drive the tractive element to propel the vehicle; and

a sensor configured to acquire sensor data regarding a condition of the vehicle; and

processing circuitry including a memory onboard the vehicle, the processing circuitry being configured to:

receive a first data point, a second data point, and a third data point regarding the condition from the sensor at different times;

record the first data point of the sensor data in the memory;

compare the second data point and the first data point;

determine, based on the comparison of the second data point and the first data point, that the second data point should not be recorded in the memory;

compare the third data point and the first data point;

record the third data point in the memory in response to a determination based on the comparison of the third data point and the first data point;

transmit the first data point and the third data point from the memory to a remote device;

receive a fourth data point from the sensor after transmitting the first data point and the third data point to the remote device; and

transmit the fourth data point to the remote device;

wherein a first time interval between (a) when the first data point is received and (b) when the third data point is received is shorter than a second time interval between (a) when the first data point is transmitted to the remote device and (b) when the fourth data point is transmitted to the remote device.

11 . The vehicle system of claim 10 , wherein the processing circuitry is configured to:

receive a fifth data point from the sensor after transmitting the fourth data point to the remote device; and

transmit the fifth data point to the remote device; and

wherein a third time interval between (a) when the fifth data point is transmitted to the remote device and (b) when the fourth data point is transmitted to the remote device is substantially equal to the second time interval.

12 . A vehicle system comprising:

a vehicle including:

a chassis;

a tractive element coupled to the chassis;

a prime mover configured to drive the tractive element to propel the vehicle; and

a sensor configured to acquire sensor data regarding a first condition of the vehicle; and

processing circuitry including a memory onboard the vehicle, the processing circuitry being configured to:

receive a first data point, a second data point, and a third data point regarding the first condition from the sensor at different times;

record the first data point of the sensor data in the memory;

compare the second data point and the first data point;

determine, based on the comparison of the second data point and the first data point, that the second data point should not be recorded in the memory;

compare the third data point and the first data point;

record the third data point in the memory in response to a determination based on the comparison of the third data point and the first data point;

transmit the first data point and the third data point from the memory to a remote device; and

cause a user device to display a graphical user interface including the first data point, the third data point, a first graph illustrating a value of the first condition over time, and a second graph illustrating a value of a second condition over time, wherein the first graph and the second graph are arranged such that a vertical line can be drawn through the first graph and the second graph to identify values of the first condition and the second condition at a time corresponding to the vertical line.

13 . A system comprising:

processing circuitry configured to:

receive sensor data from a sensor that senses a condition of an asset, the sensor data including a first measured value measured at a first time, a second measured value measured at a second time, and a third measured value measured at a third time;

compare the first measured value and the second measured value to determine whether the second measured value has changed relative to the first measured value, comparing the first measured value and the second measured value to determine whether the second measured value has changed relative to the first measured value includes:

calculating a difference between the first measured value the second measured value; and

determining whether the difference is greater than a predetermined threshold difference;

compare the first measured value and the third measured value to determine whether the third measured value has changed relative to the first measured value; and

in response to a determination that (a) the second measured value has not changed relative to the first measured value and (b) the third measured value has changed relative to the first measured value, transmit the first measured value and the third measured value to a remote device without transmitting the second measured value.

14 . The system of claim 13 , further comprising a vehicle, wherein the vehicle is the asset, and wherein the sensor is coupled to the vehicle and configured to sense a condition of the vehicle.

15 . The system of claim 13 , further comprising a piece of equipment, wherein the piece of equipment is the asset, and wherein the sensor is coupled to the piece of equipment and configured to sense a condition of the piece of equipment.

16 . The system of claim 13 , further comprising a user device including a display configured to provide a graphical user interface including the sensor data transmitted to the remote device.

17 . A system comprising:

processing circuitry configured to:

receive sensor data from a sensor that senses a condition of an asset, the sensor data including a first measured value measured at a first time, a second measured value measured at a second time, and a third measured value measured at a third time;

compare the first measured value and the second measured value to determine whether the second measured value has changed relative to the first measured value, comparing the first measured value and the second measured value to determine whether the second measured value has changed relative to the first measured value includes:

calculating a rate of change of between the first measured value and the second measured value; and

determining whether the rate of change is greater than a predetermined threshold rate;

compare the first measured value and the third measured value to determine whether the third measured value has changed relative to the first measured value; and

in response to a determination that (a) the second measured value has not changed relative to the first measured value and (b) the third measured value has changed relative to the first measured value, transmit the first measured value and the third measured value to a remote device without transmitting the second measured value.
