Abstract

The present invention relates to a table for playing games. The table may include at least one panel of aluminum composite material to form a playing surface with a frame member to support it. The frame member may extend around the perimeter of the playing surface to brace the aluminum composite panel. A first panel of the aluminum composite material may be treated with a tactile coating to form a layer over its' surface to increase its' friction coefficient.

Claims (8)

1 . A table for playing games comprising:

at least one panel to form a playing surface of the table, the at least one panel comprising a pair of sheets of aluminium bonded to a polyethylene core;

a frame member for supporting the at least one panel in position, the frame member configured to extend around a perimeter of the playing surface and has one or more strut members extending in an equi-spaced longitudinal configuration with respect to the at least one panel to form a brace to support an underside of the at least one panel when positioned thereon;

wherein an upper surface of an uppermost sheet of aluminium of the at least one panel is treated with a tactile coating to form a layer over the upper surface of the uppermost sheet of aluminium to increase a coefficient of friction thereof.

2 . A table according to claim 1 , wherein the upper surface of the uppermost sheet of aluminium of the at least one panel is printed with an image and the tactile coating functions to protect the image from exposure to weather.

3 . A table according to claim 1 or claim 2 , wherein the upper surface of the uppermost sheet of aluminium of the at least one panel is treated with at least two layers of the tactile coating.

4 . A table according to claim 1 , wherein the table is a table tennis table and the tactile coating increases the coefficient of friction between the playing surface and the ball.

5 . A table according to any one of the proceeding claims, further comprising a utility holder mountable with respect to the frame member to hold one or more items of equipment.
