Abstract

A lottery ticket pack verification system and method for simultaneously scanning a plurality of picked lottery ticket packs and for determining if the scanned lottery ticket packs are the correct lottery ticket packs based on a lottery ticket pack pick list.

Claims (39)

1 . A lottery ticket pack verification system comprising:

a digital camera; and

a controller configured to operate with the digital camera to:

cause the digital camera to capture a digital image of a wrapped lottery ticket pack,

based on the digital image, determine if the wrapped lottery ticket pack is on a lottery ticket pack list, wherein the lottery ticket pack list identifies a plurality of different lottery ticket packs to be sent to a lottery ticket retailer,

responsive to determining that the wrapped lottery ticket pack is not identified on the lottery ticket pack list, cause a display, by a display device, of an indication of an error notification that indicates an incorrect selection of the wrapped lottery ticket pack, and

responsive to determining that the wrapped lottery ticket pack is identified on the lottery ticket pack list, cause a display, by the display device, of an indication of a pass notification that indicates a correct selection of the wrapped lottery ticket pack.

2 . The lottery ticket pack verification system of claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to analyze the digital image to determine if the wrapped lottery ticket pack is identified on the lottery ticket pack list.

3 . The lottery ticket pack verification system of claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to cause a display, by the display device, of a representation based on the based on the digital image of the wrapped lottery ticket pack.

4 . The lottery ticket pack verification system of claim 3 , wherein the controller is configured to cause a display, by the display device, of one of the indication of the error notification and the indication of the pass notification in association with the display of the representation.

5 . The lottery ticket pack verification system of claim 3 , wherein the controller is configured to cause a display, by the display device, of one of the indication of the error notification and the indication of the pass notification overlapping the display of the representation.

6 . The lottery ticket pack verification system of claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to cause a display, by the display device, of the digital image of the wrapped lottery ticket pack.

The lottery ticket pack verification system of claim 6 , wherein the controller is configured to cause a display, by the display device, of one of the indication of the error notification and the indication of the pass notification in association with the display of the digital image of the wrapped lottery ticket pack.

The lottery ticket pack verification system of claim 6 , wherein the controller is configured to cause a display, by the display device, of one of the indication of the error notification and the indication of the pass notification overlapping the display of the digital image of the wrapped lottery ticket pack.

9 . A lottery ticket pack verification system comprising:

a digital camera; and

a controller configured to operate with the digital camera to:

cause the digital camera to capture a digital image of a plurality of wrapped lottery ticket packs,

based on the digital image, determine if the plurality of wrapped lottery ticket packs are on a lottery ticket pack list, wherein the lottery ticket pack list identifies a plurality of different lottery ticket packs to be sent to a lottery ticket retailer,

responsive to determining that any one of the plurality of wrapped lottery ticket packs are not identified on the lottery ticket pack list, cause a display, by a display device, of an indication of an error notification that indicates an incorrect selection regarding the wrapped lottery ticket packs, and

responsive to determining that all of the plurality of wrapped lottery ticket packs are identified on the lottery ticket pack list, cause a display, by the display device, of an indication of a pass notification that indicates a correct selection regarding the wrapped lottery ticket packs.

10 . The lottery ticket pack verification system of claim 9 , wherein the controller is configured to analyze the digital image to determine if the plurality of wrapped lottery ticket packs are identified on the lottery ticket pack list.

11 . The lottery ticket pack verification system of claim 9 , wherein the controller is configured to cause a display, by the display device, of a representation based on the digital image of the wrapped lottery ticket packs.

12 . The lottery ticket pack verification system of claim 11 , wherein the controller is configured to cause a display, by the display device, of one of the indication of the error notification and the indication of the pass notification in association with display of the representation.

13 . The lottery ticket pack verification system of claim 11 , wherein the controller is configured to cause a display, by the display device, of one of the indication of the error notification and the indication of the pass notification overlapping the display of the representation.

14 . The lottery ticket pack verification system of claim 9 , wherein the controller is configured to cause a display, by the display device, of the digital image of the wrapped lottery ticket packs.

The lottery ticket pack verification system of claim 14 , wherein the controller is configured to cause a display, by the display device, of one of the indication of the error notification and the indication of the pass notification in association with the display of the digital image of the wrapped lottery ticket packs.

The lottery ticket pack verification system of claim 14 , wherein the controller is configured to cause a display, by the display device, of one of the indication of the error notification and the indication of the pass notification overlapping the display of the digital image of the wrapped lottery ticket packs.

The lottery ticket pack verification system of claim 14 , wherein the controller is configured, for each of the wrapped lottery ticket packs, to cause a display, by the display device, a separate indication of one of the error notification and the pass notification in association with a portion of the display of the digital image of the wrapped lottery ticket packs that is associated with that wrapped lottery ticket pack.

The lottery ticket pack verification system of claim 14 , wherein the controller is configured, for each of the wrapped lottery ticket packs, to cause a display, by the display device, a separate indication of one of the error notification and the pass notification overlapping a portion of the display of the digital image of the wrapped lottery ticket packs that is associated with that wrapped lottery ticket pack.

19 . A lottery ticket pack verification system comprising:

a digital camera; and

a controller configured to operate with the digital camera to:

cause the digital camera to capture a digital image of at least one wrapped lottery ticket pack,

for each wrapped lottery ticket pack, analyze the digital image to determine if said wrapped lottery ticket pack is on a lottery ticket pack list, wherein the lottery ticket pack list identifies a plurality of different lottery ticket packs to be sent to a lottery ticket retailer,

cause a display, by a display device, of the digital image,

for each wrapped lottery ticket pack, responsive to determining that said wrapped lottery ticket pack is not identified on the lottery ticket pack list, cause a display, by the display device, of an indication of an error notification in association with the display of the digital image and that indicates an incorrect selection of the wrapped lottery ticket pack, and

for each wrapped lottery ticket pack, responsive to determining that said wrapped lottery ticket pack is identified on the lottery ticket pack list, cause a display, by the display device, of an indication of a pass notification in association with the display of the digital image that indicates a correct selection of the wrapped lottery ticket pack.

The lottery ticket pack verification system of claim 19 , wherein the controller is configured to, for each wrapped lottery ticket pack, responsive to determining that said wrapped lottery ticket pack is not identified on the lottery ticket pack list, cause a display, by the display device, of an indication of the error notification overlapping a portion of the display of the digital image associated with said wrapped lottery ticket pack, and for each wrapped lottery ticket pack, responsive to determining that said wrapped lottery ticket pack is identified on the lottery ticket pack list, cause a display, by the display device, of an indication of a pass notification overlapping a portion of the display of the digital image associated with said wrapped lottery ticket pack.
