Abstract

A method for manufacturing a container includes injecting a first material into a first mold to form a top portion of a preform. The first material and a second material are injected into the first mold to form a bottom portion of the preform. The preform is disposed in a second mold. The preform is blow molded into a finished container.

Claims (35)

1 . A container comprising:

a top wall;

a bottom wall opposite the top wall; and

a side wall between the top wall and the bottom wall,

wherein the bottom wall comprises a first portion extending at an angle relative to the side wall and a second portion extending at an angle relative to the first portion, the second portion being spaced apart from the side wall by the first portion,

wherein the bottom wall comprises a panel configured to move relative to the side wall during pressure application, the panel comprising a center portion and a plurality of spaced apart radial segments disposed circumferentially about the center portion.

2 . The container recited in claim 1 , wherein the first portion extends transverse to the side wall.

3 . The container recited in claim 2 , wherein the second portion extends transverse to the first portion.

4 . The container recited in claim 1 , wherein the bottom wall is a circumferential wall.

5 . The container recited in claim 1 , wherein the panel is in direct communication with the bottom wall.

6 . The container recited in claim 1 , wherein the panel extends inwardly from the second portion.

7 . The container recited in claim 1 , wherein the center portion is concave.

8 . The container recited in claim 1 , wherein at least one of the segments is tapered toward the center portion.

9 . The container recited in claim 1 , wherein the first portion and the second portion define a gap that separates the bottom wall from the side wall.

10 . The container recited in claim 9 , wherein the gap prevents the bottom wall from rubbing against the side wall during movement of the panel relative to the side wall during the pressure application.

11 . The container recited in claim 1 , wherein the panel is angled.

12 . The container recited in claim 1 , wherein the center portion is circular.

13 . A container comprising:

a top wall;

a circumferential bottom wall opposite the top wall; and

a side wall between the top wall and the bottom wall,

wherein the bottom wall comprises a first portion extending at an angle relative to the side wall and a second portion extending at an angle relative to the first portion,

wherein the bottom wall comprises a panel configured to move relative to the side wall during pressure application, the panel comprising a center portion and a plurality of spaced apart radial segments disposed circumferentially about the center portion.

14 . The container recited in claim 13 , wherein the first portion extends transverse to the side wall.

15 . The container recited in claim 14 , wherein the second portion extends transverse to the first portion.

16 . The container recited in claim 13 , wherein the panel is in direct communication with the bottom wall.

17 . A container comprising:

a top wall;

a bottom wall opposite the top wall; and

a side wall between the top wall and the bottom wall,

wherein the bottom wall comprises a first portion extending at an angle relative to the side wall and a second portion extending at an angle relative to the first portion,

wherein the bottom wall comprises a panel that is in direct communication with the bottom wall, the panel being configured to move relative to the side wall during pressure application, the panel comprising a center portion and a plurality of spaced apart radial segments disposed circumferentially about the center portion.

18 . The container recited in claim 17 , wherein the first portion extends transverse to the side wall.

19 . The container recited in claim 18 , wherein the second portion extends transverse to the first portion.

20 . The container recited in claim 17 , wherein the panel extends inwardly from the second portion.
