Abstract

Electronic patch and crack sealing devices, assemblies, and methods. In one embodiment, a device for surface repair includes an application arm having an electrically-heated torch heating element and an interconnect end adjacent the electrically-heated torch heating element. The device may include at least one applier. In particular embodiments the applier is an interchangeable applier removably coupled to the interconnect end. The result may be an improved electrically-heated device and method for applying/manipulating a polymer asphalt binder and construction aggregate composition at a proper application temperature.

Claims (30)

1 . An electrically-heated system comprising:

a. an application arm having an applier;

b. an electrically-heated torch burning supply has an exhaust aligned about said applier and adapted to heat said applier to about 400 degrees Fahrenheit; and

c. a polymer asphalt binder and construction aggregate composition, and

wherein said electrically-heated exhaust being repositionable along said application arm and wherein said composition comprises a hot-applied, pourable patching material.

2 . The electrically-heated system of claim 1 , wherein said application arm having an interconnect to removably connect at least one said applier.

3 . The electrically-heated system of claim 1 , wherein said electronic-powered application arm delivers about one hundred and ten volts.

4 . An electronic device for applying a polymer asphalt binder and construction aggregate composition, said device comprising:

a. an application arm having an elongated body and an interconnect distal end adapted to receive an interchangeable applier; and

b. an electronic-powered application arm adjacent said distal end of said application arm to maintain between a 350 and about 400 degrees Fahrenheit temperature about said composition, and

wherein said electronic device directly contacts and applies said polymer asphalt binder and construction aggregate composition to a site-specific surface.

5 . The electronic device of claim 4 , wherein said electronic-powered application arm maintains about one hundred and ten volts.

6 . The electronic device of claim 4 , wherein said electronic-powered application arm delivers about two hundred and twenty volts.

7 . The electronic device of claim 4 , further including an interchangeable applier.

8 . The electronic device of claim 4 , wherein said site-specific surface is chosen from a surface consisting essentially of a surface distress, a thin crack, and a feathered edge.

9 . The electronic device of claim 4 , wherein said electronic-powered application arm includes a power interconnection assembly.

10 . An electrically-heated device for applying a polymer asphalt binder and construction aggregate composition, said device comprising:

a. an application arm having an elongated body and an interconnect distal end adapted to receive an interchangeable applier; and

b. an electrically-heated moveable torch exhaust aligned on said application arm adjacent said distal end, and

wherein said electrically-heated device directly contacts and applies said polymer asphalt binder and construction aggregate composition to a site-specific surface at an application temperature between about 350 and about 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

11 . The electrically-heated device of claim 10 , further including an interchangeable applier.

12 . The electrically-heated device of claim 10 , wherein said electrically-heated torch exhaust being moveable between two or more positions along said elongated body.

13 . The electrically-heated device of claim 12 , wherein a first position includes a narrow distance between said torch exhaust and said distal end.

14 . The electrically-heated device of claim 12 , wherein a second position includes a distance greater than said narrow distance between said torch exhaust and said distal end.

15 . The electrically-heated device of claim 10 , wherein said electrically-heated torch exhaust having a narrow proximate portion and an enlarged distal portion.

16 . The electrically-heated device of claim 10 , wherein said electrically-heated torch exhaust has about a five and half inch distal outlet.

17 . The electrically-heated device of claim 10 , wherein said torch exhaust has an electrically-heated connector module.

18 . The electrically-heated device of claim 17 , wherein said connector module includes a electrically-heated power assembly.

19 . The electrically-heated device of claim 17 , wherein said connector module includes at least one control.

20 . The electrically-heated device of claim 17 , wherein said connector module includes an anchor system.
