Abstract

In opposition to a sheet feeding path, an ultrafine particle (UFP) collecting filter provided between transfer and fixing is easily exchanged. Therefore, a duct unit kept in a state of holding the UFP collecting filter is removably and easily mounted to a duct.

Claims (18)

1 . An image forming apparatus comprising:

an image forming portion configured to form a toner image on a sheet by using toner containing a parting agent;

a fixing portion configured to thermally fix the toner image formed on the sheet by the image forming portion;

a duct, including a suction port provided opposed to a sheet feeding path between the image forming portion and the fixing portion, configured to discharge air to outside of the image forming apparatus;

a filter, provided at the suction port of the duct, configured to collect particles of a predetermined particle size resulting from the parting agent;

a holder configured to hold the filter; and

a door provided at a side surface of the image forming apparatus and movable between a first position at which the door is opened relative to a main assembly of the image forming apparatus and a second position at which the door is closed relative to the main assembly of the image forming apparatus, the door including a guide member for forming the sheet feeding path and for guiding the sheet,

wherein, through a space formed in a state in which the door is positioned in the first position, the fixing portion and the holder are separately removable, and

wherein the fixing portion is detachable from the main assembly of the image forming apparatus and the holder is detachable from the duct.

2 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the second position is above the first position with respect to a direction of gravity.

3 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the door is provided with a rotatable shaft, and

wherein the door is movable between the first position and the second position by being rotated.

4 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 3 , wherein the fixing portion includes a rotatable member configured to nip and convey a recording material in a state in which the door is positioned in the second position, and

wherein the rotatable shaft is disposed along a rotational axis direction of the rotatable member and below the fixing portion with respect to a direction of gravity.

5 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein in the state in which the door is positioned in the first position and the fixing portion is attached to the main assembly of the image forming apparatus, the holder is not detachable from the duct.

6 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the filter is configured to collect the particles of the predetermined particle size resulting from the parting agent being heated by the fixing portion.

7 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the suction port of the duct suctions air around the fixing portion.

8 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the fixing portion and the duct are disposed so as to be overlapped with each other as viewed in a direction perpendicular to a conveyance direction of the sheet.
