Abstract

Aspects of present disclosure relate to slide imaging. An exemplary system for imaging a slide includes at least an optical system, including an optical sensor; a slide port configured to hold a slide; and a first computing device configured to: capture, using the at least an optical system, a plurality of images of the slide, including a first image; automatically select an algorithm to apply to the first image; identify a control command as a function of the first image; and capture, using the at least an optical system, a second image of the plurality of images as a function of the control command.

Claims (57)

1 . A system for imaging a slide, the system comprising:

a slide port configured to receive a slide;

at least an optical system, wherein the at least an optical system comprises at least an optical sensor configured to capture a first image of the received slide; and

a first computing device configured to:

receive the first image of the received slide from the at least an optical system, wherein the first image is associated with metadata;

select at least an in-line algorithm to apply to the first image;

update the metadata as a function of an output of the in-line algorithm;

identify a control command as a function of the updated metadata; and

configure the at least an optical system to capture a second image of a second slide at the slide port using the at least an optical sensor as a function of the control command.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the first computing device is further configured to:

select a second in-line algorithm to apply to the second image; and

update the metadata as a function of the output of the second in-line algorithm.

3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein updating the metadata comprises:

consolidating the metadata and the output of the in-line algorithm to form case metadata; and

storing the case metadata in a database.

4 . The system of claim 3 , wherein identifying the control command as a function of the updated metadata comprises identifying the control command as a function of the case metadata.

5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the first computing device is further configured to:

determine a rescan trigger as a function of case metadata;

identify a second control command as a function of the case metadata and the rescan trigger; and

configure the at least an optical system to capture a rescan image of the first slide as a function of the second control command.

6 . The system of claim 5 , wherein the first computing device is further configured to:

select a second in-line algorithm to apply to the first image; and

update the case metadata as a function of the output of the second in-line algorithm.

7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein identifying the control command comprises:

transmitting the first image to a second computing device configured to execute the in-line algorithm, wherein the first computing device is communicatively connected to the second computing device; and

receiving, from the second computing device, the control command.

8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein updating the metadata as a function of the output of the in-line algorithm comprises receiving the output of the in-line algorithm using a 3 rd -Party API.

9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the metadata comprises prior metadata collected from a previously scanned block of slides.

10 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the metadata comprises prior metadata collected from a previously scanned case of slides.

11 . A method for imaging a slide, the method comprising:

receiving, using a slide port, a slide;

capturing a first image of the received slide using at least an optical sensor of at least an optical system;

receiving, using a first computing device, the first image of the received slide from the at least an optical system, wherein the first image is associated with metadata;

selecting, using the first computing device, at least an in-line algorithm to apply to the first image;

updating, using the first computing device, the metadata as a function of an output of the in-line algorithm;

identifying, using the first computing device, a control command as a function of the updated metadata; and

configuring, using the first computing device, the at least an optical system to capture a second image of a second slide at the slide port using the at least an optical sensor as a function of the control command.

12 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising:

selecting, using the first computing device, a second in-line algorithm to apply to the second image; and

updating, using the first computing device, the metadata as a function of the output of the second in-line algorithm.

13 . The method of claim 11 , wherein updating the metadata comprises:

consolidating the metadata and the output of the in-line algorithm to form case metadata; and

storing the case metadata in a database.

14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein identifying the control command as a function of the updated metadata comprises identifying the control command as a function of the case metadata.

15 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising:

determining, using the first computing device, a rescan trigger as a function of case metadata;

identifying, using the first computing device, a second control command as a function of the case metadata and the rescan trigger;

configuring, using the first computing device, the at least an optical method to capture a rescan image of the first slide as a function of the second control command.

16 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising:

selecting, using the first computing device, a second in-line algorithm to apply to the first image; and

updating, using the first computing device, the case metadata as a function of the output of the second in-line algorithm.

17 . The method of claim 11 , wherein identifying the control command comprises:

transmitting the first image to a second computing device configured to execute the in-line algorithm, wherein the first computing device is communicatively connected to the second computing device; and

receiving, from the second computing device, the control command.

18 . The method of claim 11 , wherein updating the metadata as a function of the output of the in-line algorithm comprises receiving the output of the in-line algorithm using a 3 rd -Party API.

19 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the metadata comprises prior metadata collected from a previously scanned block of slides.

20 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the metadata comprises prior metadata collected from a previously scanned case of slides.
