Abstract

The present disclosure relates to the concept of preempting PPDUs, i.e., truncating a PPDU carrying non-latency sensitive traffic to serve STAs with latency constraints. A first communication device comprises circuitry configured to listen to an ongoing data exchange between a second communication device and a third communication device on a wireless channel, to estimate a reception duration of a data unit, to determine if the transmission of the data unit is truncated and/or if a truncation condition is met, the reception duration indicating the time of reception of the data unit by the third communication device if the data unit were not truncated, and, if the transmission of the data unit is truncated and/or if a truncation condition is met, receive a preemptive data unit from the second communication device or transmit a preemptive data unit to the second communication device.
