Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for post-emergent weed control, which comprises applying an effective amount of a composition comprising herbicide A (component A), pyroxasulfone (component B) and optionally herbicide C (component C) to emerged weeds, or an area, where weeds are growing.

Claims (35)

1 . A method for post-emergent weed control, comprising applying an effective amount of a composition comprising

A) herbicide A-1: ethyl 2-[2-[[3-chloro-5-fluoro-6-[3-methyl-2,6-dioxo-4-(trifluoromethyl)pyrimidin-1-yl]-2-pyridyl]oxy]phenoxy]acetate; and

B) pyroxasulfone

to an area where weeds are growing,

wherein the weight ratio of herbicide A-1 to pyroxasulfone is in the range of from 1:3.5 to 1:5,

wherein the method results in a synergistic effect of the composition in controlling the weeds, and

wherein the herbicide A-1 and pyroxasulfone are applied jointly.

2 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the composition further comprises at least one herbicide C selected from the group consisting of saflufenacil, trifludimoxazin, glyphosate, glufosinate, 2,4-D, and agriculturally acceptable salts and esters thereof.

3 . The method according to claim 2 , wherein the herbicide A-1, pyroxasulfone and herbicide C are applied jointly.

4 . The method according to claim 2 , wherein herbicide A-1, pyroxasulfone and herbicide C are applied to weeds that are resistant to PPO inhibitors, glyphosate, glufosinate and/or 2,4-D.

5 . The method according to claim 2 , wherein the weeds to be controlled are monocotyledonous weeds and volunteer crop plants.

6 . The method according to claim 5 , wherein the weeds are selected from the families of Commelinaceae, Cyperaceae and Poaceae.

7 . The method according to claim 2 , wherein herbicide A-1, pyroxasulfone and herbicide C are applied when the weeds are between 1 and 60 cm tall.

8 . The method according to claim 2 , wherein herbicide A-1, pyroxasulfone and herbicide C are applied prior to seeding and/or planting or after seeding and/or planting of crop plants, but before the emergence of the crop plants.

9 . The method according to claim 2 , wherein herbicide A-1, pyroxasulfone, and herbicide C are applied to crop plants that have been rendered tolerant to PPO-inhibiting herbicides.

10 . The method according to claim 8 , wherein the crop plants are selected from Glycine max, Zea mays, Gossypium hirsutum, Gossypium arboreum, Gossypium herbaceum, Gossypium vitifolium, Oryza sativa, Oryza glaberrima, Brassica napus, Citrus limon, Citrus sinensis, Elaeis guineensis, Lens culinaris, Pisum sativum, Phaseolus vulgaris, Triticum aestivum and Triticum durum.

11 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein herbicide A-1 and pyroxasulfone are applied to weeds that are resistant to PPO inhibitors, glyphosate, glufosinate and/or 2,4-D.

12 . The method according to claim 11 , wherein the weeds are selected from the families of Commelinaceae, Cyperaceae and Poaceae.

13 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein herbicide A-1 and pyroxasulfone are applied when the weeds are between 1 and 60 cm tall.

14 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein herbicide A-1 and pyroxasulfone are applied prior to seeding and/or planting or after seeding and/or planting of crop plants, but before the emergence of the crop plants.

15 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein herbicide A-1 and pyroxasulfone are applied to crop plants that have been rendered tolerant to PPO-inhibiting herbicides.

16 . The method according to claim 14 , wherein the crop plants are selected from Glycine max, Zea mays, Gossypium hirsutum, Gossypium arboreum, Gossypium herbaceum, Gossypium vitifolium, Oryza sativa, Oryza glaberrima, Brassica napus, Citrus limon, Citrus sinensis, Elaeis guineensis, Lens culinaris, Pisum sativum, Phaseolus vulgaris, Triticum aestivum and Triticum durum.

17 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the at least one herbicide C is trifludimoxazin.

18 . A mixture comprising

A) herbicide A-1: ethyl 2-[2-[[3-chloro-5-fluoro-6-[3-methyl-2,6-dioxo-4-(trifluoromethyl)pyrimidin-1-yl]-2-pyridyl]oxy]phenoxy]acetate; and

B) pyroxasulfone;

wherein the weight ratio of herbicide A-1 to pyroxasulfone is in the range of from 1:3.5 to 1:5, and

wherein application of an effective amount of the mixture to weeds that are growing results in a synergistic effect in controlling the weeds.

19 . A mixture comprising

A) herbicide A-1: ethyl 2-[2-[3-chloro-5-fluoro-6-[3-methyl-2,6-dioxo-4-(trifluoromethyl)pyrimidin-1-yl]-2-pyridylloxy]phenoxy]acetate;

B) pyroxasulfone; and

C) at least one herbicide C selected from trifludimoxazin, glyphosate-isopropylammonium, glyphosate-potassium, glufosinate-P-ammonium and 2,4-D choline,

wherein the weight ratio of herbicide A-1 to pyroxasulfone is in the range of from 1:3.5 to 1:5, and

wherein application of an effective amount of the mixture to weeds that are growing results in a synergistic effect in controlling the weeds.

20 . The composition of claim 19 , wherein the at least one herbicide C is trifludimoxazin.
