Abstract

Provided herein are method, apparatus, and computer program products for facilitating a learning user interface. The interface may be presented as a plurality of dynamic icons representing a plurality of items. The interface may further be facilitated by accessing, by a processor, business data corresponding to the plurality of items. The interface may be facilitated by determining, by the processor, a visual bias for at least one of the plurality of dynamic icons based on the business data corresponding to the plurality of items and may be facilitated by applying, via the interface, the visual bias to the at least one of the plurality of dynamic icons.

Claims (50)

1 . A method comprising:

presenting, via an interface, a plurality of dynamic icons representing a plurality of items;

accessing, by a processor, business data corresponding to the plurality of items;

receiving a selection, via a menu displayed via the interface, of one or more selected data filter options;

determining, by the processor and based at least in part on the business data corresponding to the plurality of items and the one or more selected data filter options, a relationship between a first icon of the plurality of dynamic icons and one or more additional icons of the plurality of dynamic icons;

determining, by the processor, a visual bias for the first icon based on the determined relationship between the first icon and the one or more additional icons, wherein (i) the visual bias comprises determining at least one first visual characteristic for the first icon, (ii) the at least one first visual characteristic corresponds to a characteristic of a common feature, the common feature being shared by the first icon and the one or more additional icons, and (iii) the visual bias is indicative of the relationship between the first icon and the one or more additional icons via a difference between the characteristic and corresponding characteristics of the common feature of one or more additional icons; and

applying, via the interface, the visual bias to the first icon thereby causing display of the first icon with the at least one first visual characteristic.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the interface is disposed in electrical communication with a point of sale terminal.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of dynamic icons comprise at least one suggested dynamic icon representing a suggested item of the plurality of items and at least one secondary dynamic icon representing a secondary item of the plurality of items, and

wherein determining the visual bias for the first icon comprises determining the visual bias for the at least one suggested dynamic icon based on the business data as filtered by the one or more selected data filter options.

4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein applying the visual bias to the first icon comprises applying the visual bias to the at least one suggested dynamic icon.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein applying the visual bias to the first icon comprises scaling the first icon to fit a display of the interface.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the business data comprises predetermined goal data associated with the plurality of items determined based on transaction data associated with the plurality of items and wherein the one or more selected data filter options comprise a goal data option.

7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the predetermined goal data associated with the plurality of items is determined based on received goal identifications.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein applying the visual bias to the first icon comprises shrinking a size of the first icon relative to the one or more additional icons.

9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving a selection indication associated with a selected dynamic icon of the plurality of dynamic icons, wherein the selected dynamic icon represents a selected item of the plurality of items; and

updating business data associated with the selected item based on the selection indication.

10 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising:

presenting an alert, via the interface, when the business data associated with the selected item satisfies a predetermined threshold.

11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein determining the visual bias the first icon comprises:

determining a secondary indicator associated with the first icon.

12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein applying the visual bias to the first icon comprises:

applying the secondary indicator to the first icon.

13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the secondary indicator is positioned proximate a border of the first icon.

14 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the secondary indicator is a thermometer associated with each of the plurality of dynamic icons.

15 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving a second selection, via the menu displayed via the interface, of one or more second selected data filter options;

determining, by the processor and based at least in part on the business data corresponding to the plurality of items and the one or more second selected data filter options, a second relationship between a first icon of the plurality of dynamic icons and one or more additional icons of the plurality of dynamic icons;

determining, by the processor, a second visual bias for the first icon based on the determined second relationship between the first icon and the one or more additional icons, wherein the second visual bias comprises determining at least one second visual characteristic for the first icon, the second visual characteristic being different than the first characteristic; and

applying, via the interface, the second visual bias to the first icon thereby causing display of the first icon with the second visual characteristic to replace the at least one first visual characteristic.

16 . An apparatus is provided comprising at least a processor, and a memory associated with the processor having computer coded instructions therein, with the computer coded instructions configured to, when executed by the processor, cause the apparatus to:

present, via an interface, a plurality of dynamic icons representing a plurality of items;

access, by a processor, business data corresponding to the plurality of items;

receive a selection, via a menu displayed via the interface, of one or more selected data filter options;

determine, by the processor and based at least in part on the business data corresponding to the plurality of items and the one or more selected data filter options, a relationship between a first icon of the plurality of dynamic icons and one or more additional icons of the plurality of dynamic icons;

determine, by the processor, a visual bias for the first icon based on the determined relationship between the first icon and the one or more additional icons, wherein (i) the visual bias comprises determining at least one first visual characteristic for the first icon, (ii) the at least one first visual characteristic corresponds to a characteristic of a common feature, the common feature being shared by the first icon and the one or more additional icons, and (iii) the visual bias is indicative of the relationship between the first icon and the one or more additional icons via a difference between the characteristic and corresponding characteristics of the common feature of one or more additional icons; and

apply, via the interface, the visual bias to the first icon thereby causing display of the first icon with the at least one first visual characteristic.

17 . The apparatus of claim 16 , wherein the interface is disposed in electrical communication with a point of sale terminal.

18 . The apparatus of claim 16 , wherein the plurality of dynamic icons comprise at least one suggested dynamic icon representing a suggested item of the plurality of items and at least one secondary dynamic icon representing a secondary item of the plurality of items, and

wherein determining the visual bias for the first icon comprises determining the visual bias for the at least one suggested dynamic icon based on the business data as filtered by the one or more selected data filter options.

19 . The apparatus of claim 18 , wherein applying the visual bias to the first icon comprises applying the visual bias to the at least one suggested dynamic icon.

20 . The apparatus of claim 16 , wherein the business data comprises predetermined goal data associated with the plurality of items.
