Integrated database for expediting transaction processing
Expedited transaction processing using a database of integrated in-store and online transactions is described. First transaction information associated with a first transaction conducted in a physical store of a merchant and second transaction information associated with a second transaction conducted via an online store of the merchant can be received. The first transaction can be processed based at least partly on the first transaction information and a record of the first transaction can be stored in the database. Based at least partly on the record, the second transaction can be processed using at least a portion of the second transaction information by (i) sending, to a card authorization service, the second payment information and (ii) generating an indication that the first payment information was authorized for the first transaction at the physical store. A computing device of the online store can be notified that the second transaction is allowed.
1 . A method, comprising:
receiving, from a computing device of a first merchant associated with a payment service system, first payment information associated with a first transaction;
authorizing a first payment instrument associated with the first payment information for the first transaction with an authorization, clearing, and settlement process;
storing, in an integrated database of the payment service system, a record indicating that the first payment instrument was authorized for the first transaction;
receiving, from a computing device of a second merchant associated with the payment service system, a request for authorizing a second transaction, wherein the request includes second payment information associated with a second payment instrument;
based at least in part on determining the first payment information corresponds to the second payment information, authorizing, the second payment instrument for use in the second transaction using an expedited process by sending, to a card authorization service, (i) the second payment information and (ii) an indication that the first payment instrument was authorized for the first transaction; and
allowing the second transaction based at least in part on authorizing the second payment instrument and without completing the authorization, clearing, and settlement process.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein:
the first payment information includes a first payment instrument number and a first expiration date; and
the second payment information includes a second payment instrument number and a second expiration date.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein determining the first payment information corresponds to the second payment information comprises determining that the first payment instrument number and the first expiration date correspond to the second payment instrument number and the second expiration date, respectively.
4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the second transaction is associated with an online transaction, and wherein determining the first payment information corresponds to the second payment information comprises determining that, according to an online registry, the first payment instrument number and the second payment instrument number are associated with a same user or same account.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein authorizing the second payment instrument for use in the second transaction comprises designating the second transaction as a low risk transaction for the card authorization service.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first transaction comprises a transaction at a physical store of the first merchant, and wherein the second transaction comprises a transaction via an online store of the second merchant.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the first merchant and the second merchant are a same merchant or are different merchants.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the integrated database comprises record data from in store and online transactions processed by the payment service system.
9 . A payment service system comprising:
one or more processors; and
one or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the payment service system to perform operations comprising:
receiving, from a computing device of a first merchant associated with the payment service system, first payment information associated with a first transaction;
authorizing a first payment instrument associated with the first payment information for the first transaction with an authorization, clearing, and settlement process;
storing, in an integrated database of the payment service system, a record indicating that the first payment instrument was authorized for the first transaction;
receiving, from a computing device of a second merchant associated with the payment service system, a request for authorizing a second transaction, wherein the request includes second payment information associated with a second payment instrument;
based at least in part on determining the first payment information corresponds to the second payment information, authorizing, the second payment instrument for use in the second transaction using an expedited process by sending, to a card authorization service, (i) the second payment information and (ii) an indication that the first payment instrument was authorized for the first transaction; and
allowing the second transaction based at least in part on authorizing the second payment instrument and without completing the authorization, clearing, and settlement process.
10 . The payment service system of claim 9 , wherein:
the first payment information includes a first payment instrument number and a first expiration date;
the second payment information includes a second payment instrument number and a second expiration date; and
wherein determining the first payment information corresponds to the second payment information comprises determining that the first payment instrument number and the first expiration date correspond to the second payment instrument number and the second expiration date, respectively.
11 . The payment service system of claim 9 , wherein:
the first payment information includes a first payment instrument number and a first expiration date;
the second payment information includes a second payment instrument number and a second expiration date;
the second transaction is associated with an online transaction; and
determining the first payment information corresponds to the second payment information comprises determining that, according to an online registry, the first payment instrument number and the second payment instrument number are associated with a same user or same account.
12 . The payment service system of claim 9 , the operations further comprising storing user account information, the user account information linking first user information, associated with the first transaction, and second user information, associated with the second transaction, wherein determining that the second payment instrument corresponds to the first payment instrument is further based at least in part on the user account information.
13 . The payment service system of claim 9 , wherein authorizing the second payment instrument for use in the second transaction comprises designating the second transaction as a low risk transaction for the card authorization service.
14 . The payment service system of claim 9 , wherein the first merchant and the second merchant are a same merchant or are different merchants.
15 . The payment service system of claim 9 , wherein the integrated database comprises record data from in store and online transactions processed by the payment service system.
16 . The payment service system of claim 9 , wherein the first transaction is a point-of-sale transaction and the second transaction is an online transaction.
17 . One or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a payment service system, cause the one or more processors of the payment service system to perform operations comprising:
receiving, from a computing device of a first merchant associated with the payment service system, first information associated with a first transaction;
authorizing a first payment instrument associated with the first information for the first transaction with an authorization, clearing, and settlement process;
