Abstract

Gaming systems and methods that provide reel spin speed inputs and an associated win probability indicator.

Claims (63)

1 . A gaming system comprising:

a housing comprising an access door;

a security monitoring circuit supported by the housing, that monitors the access door, and that causes a signal to be sent to a remote server when the access door is opened;

a plurality of output devices comprising a display device supported by the housing;

a plurality of input devices comprising a plurality of input buttons mounted on a deck supported by the housing and a touch screen input device supported by the housing and operable with the display device;

a processor supported by the housing; and

a trusted memory device coupled to one or more sensors and supported by the housing and structured to provide a gaming regulatory authority a root trusted authority that can be tracked and verified as original, the trusted memory device storing a plurality of instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:

cause a display, by the display device, of reels comprising a plurality of symbols;

cause a display, by the display device, of an indication of a feature activation event;

thereafter, cause a display, by the display device, of the reels spinning at a first speed;

cause a display, by the display device, of a win probability indicator comprising sections that indicate different probabilities of a triggering event occurring on the reels, the win probability indicator being separately displayed from the reels;

cause a display, by the display device, of one of the sections of the win probability indicator indicated in a manner that indicates a probability of the triggering event occurring on the reels when the reels stop spinning;

cause a display, by the display device, of a component of the win probability indicator moving at a second speed;

cause a display, by the display device, of the component of the win probability indicator stopped to indicate the section of the win probability indicator that indicates the probability of the triggering event occurring on the reels when the reels stop spinning;

thereafter, cause a display, by the display device, of reels stopped, wherein the reels display an indication of the triggering event; and

detect via the one or more sensors one of a plurality of tampering events, and responsive to detecting said tampering event, cause the trusted memory device to be one of cleared and erased.

2 . The gaming system of claim 1 , wherein when executed by the processor, the instructions cause the processor to determine the first speed and the second speed based on a length of activation of an accelerate reels input button.

3 . The gaming system of claim 1 , wherein when executed by the processor, the instructions cause the processor to, while causing the display device to display the reels spinning, cause a display, by the display device, of one of the sections of the win probability indicator changing in size.

4 . The gaming system of claim 1 , wherein when executed by the processor, the instructions cause the processor to, while causing the display device to display the reels spinning, cause a display, by the display device, of two of the sections of the win probability indicator each changing in size.

5 . The gaming system of claim 1 , wherein when executed by the processor, the instructions cause the processor to, while causing the display device to display the reels spinning, cause a display, by the display device, of one of the sections of the win probability indicator increasing in size.

6 . The gaming system of claim 1 , wherein when executed by the processor, the instructions cause the processor to, while causing the display device to display the reels spinning, cause a display, by the display device, of one of the sections of the win probability indicator increasing in size and another one of the sections of the win probability indicator decreasing in size.

7 . The gaming system of claim 1 , wherein when executed by the processor, the instructions cause the processor to cause a display, by the display device, of an accelerate reels input button.

8 . The gaming system of claim 7 , wherein when executed by the processor, the instructions cause the processor to determine the first speed based on a length of activation of the accelerate reels input button.

9 . A gaming system comprising:

a housing comprising an access door;

a security monitoring circuit supported by the housing, that monitors the access door, and that causes a signal to be sent to a remote server when the access door is opened;

a plurality of output devices comprising a display device supported by the housing;

a plurality of input devices comprising a plurality of input buttons mounted on a deck supported by the housing and a touch screen input device supported by the housing and operable with the display device;

a processor supported by the housing; and

a trusted memory device coupled to one or more sensors and supported by the housing and structured to provide a gaming regulatory authority a root trusted authority that can be tracked and verified as original, the trusted memory device storing a plurality of instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:

cause a display, by the display device, of reels comprising a plurality of symbols;

cause a display, by the display device, of an indication of a feature activation event;

thereafter, cause a display, by the display device, of the reels spinning at a first speed;

cause a display, by the display device, of a win probability indicator wheel of a win probability indicator, the win probability indicator wheel comprising sections that indicate different probabilities of a triggering event occurring on the reels, the win probability indicator wheel being separately displayed from the reels;

cause a display, by the display device, of a pointer of the win probability indicator moving at a second speed relative to the win probability indicator wheel;

cause a display, by the display device, of the pointer stopped to indicate one of the sections of the win probability indicator wheel to indicate a probability of the triggering event occurring on the reels when the reels stop spinning;

thereafter, cause a display, by the display device, of reels stopped, wherein the reels display an indication of the triggering event; and

detect via the one or more sensors one of a plurality of tampering events, and responsive to detecting said tampering event, cause the trusted memory device to be one of cleared and erased.

10 . The gaming system of claim 9 , wherein when executed by the processor, the instructions cause the processor to cause the first speed and the second speed to both be based on a length of activation of an accelerate reels input button.

11 . The gaming system of claim 9 , wherein when executed by the processor, the instructions cause the processor to, while causing the display device to display the reels spinning, cause a display, by the display device, of one of the sections of the win probability indicator wheel changing in size.

12 . The gaming system of claim 9 , wherein when executed by the processor, the instructions cause the processor to, while causing the display device to display the reels spinning, cause a display, by the display device, of two of the sections of the win probability indicator wheel each changing in size.

13 . The gaming system of claim 9 , wherein when executed by the processor, the instructions cause the processor to, while causing the display device to display the reels spinning, cause a display, by the display device, of one of the sections of the win probability indicator wheel increasing in size and another one of the sections of the win probability indicator wheel decreasing in size.

14 . The gaming system of claim 9 , wherein when executed by the processor, the instructions cause the processor to, while causing the display device to display the reels spinning, cause a display, by the display device, of a quantity of the sections of the win probability indicator wheel increasing.

15 . A gaming system comprising:

a housing comprising an access door;

a security monitoring circuit supported by the housing, that monitors the access door, and that causes a signal to be sent to a remote server when the access door is opened;

a plurality of output devices comprising a display device supported by the housing;

a plurality of input devices comprising a plurality of input buttons mounted on a deck supported by the housing and a touch screen input device supported by the housing and operable with the display device;

a processor supported by the housing; and

a trusted memory device coupled to one or more sensors and supported by the housing and structured to provide a gaming regulatory authority a root trusted authority that can be tracked and verified as original, the trusted memory device storing a plurality of instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:

cause a display, by the display device, of reels comprising a plurality of symbols;

cause a display, by the display device, of an indication of a feature activation event;

cause a display, by the display device, of accelerate reels input button;

cause a display, by the display device, of the reels spinning at a first speed, wherein the first speed is based in part on a length of activation of the accelerate reels input button;

cause a display, by the display device, of a win probability indicator wheel of a win probability indicator, the win probability indicator wheel comprising a first section that indicates a first probability of a triggering event occurring on the reels, and a second section that indicates a second probability of the triggering event occurring on the reels;

cause a display, by the display device, of a pointer of the win probability indicator moving at a second speed relative to the win probability indicator wheel;

cause a display, by the display device, of the pointer stopped to indicate one of the first section and the second section of the win probability indicator wheel to indicate a probability of the triggering event occurring on the reels when the reels stop spinning;

thereafter, cause a display, by the display device, of reels stopped, wherein the reels display an indication of the triggering event; and

detect via the one or more sensors one of a plurality of tampering events, and responsive to detecting said tampering event, cause the trusted memory device to be one of cleared and erased.

16 . The gaming system of claim 15 , wherein when executed by the processor, the instructions cause the processor to cause a display, by the display device, of one of the sections of the win probability indicator wheel changing in size during the activation of the accelerate reels input button.

17 . The gaming system of claim 15 , wherein when executed by the processor, the instructions cause the processor to cause a display, by the display device, of two of the sections of the win probability indicator wheel each changing in size during the activation of the accelerate reels input button.

18 . The gaming system of claim 15 , wherein when executed by the processor, the instructions cause the processor to cause a display, by the display device, of one of the sections of the win probability indicator wheel increasing in size and another one of the sections of the win probability indicator wheel decreasing in size during the activation of the accelerate reels input button.

19 . The gaming system of claim 15 , wherein when executed by the processor, the instructions cause the processor to cause a display, by the display device, of a quantity of the sections of the win probability indicator wheel increasing during the activation of the accelerate reels input button.
