Abstract

Enclosure assemblies with integrating flashing for protecting an accessory on a rooftop. The enclosure assemblies can include a base configured to protect the rooftop from water intrusion and a cover configured to be joined to the raised portion of the base. The base can include a bottom wall and a raised portion extending from the bottom wall. The base can include an uphill portion configured to be positioned beneath at least one full course of roof shingle on the rooftop, without having to cut the roof shingle. The raised portion can be disposed off-center relative to the central transverse axis of the bottom wall, leaving the uphill portion of the bottom wall uncovered.

Claims (61)

1 . A junction box comprising:

a flashing including:

an upper edge,

a lower edge opposite the upper edge,

a first lateral edge disposed between the upper edge and the lower edge, and

a second lateral edge disposed between the upper edge and the lower edge,

a housing attached to the flashing, the housing including:

sidewalls including at least a first sidewall and a second sidewall,

a joint formed by the first sidewall and the second sidewall, wherein:

the joint is located on a first axis disposed between the upper edge and the lower edge, the first axis being centrally disposed between the first lateral edge and the second lateral edge, and

the joint is spaced apart from a second axis disposed between the first lateral edge and the second lateral edge, the second axis being centrally disposed between the upper edge and the lower edge,

a top surface defined by an end of the sidewalls, and

receiver openings disposed on the top surface;

a lid including openings, each opening of the openings being concentric with one receiver opening of the receiver openings; and

fasteners, each fastener of the fasteners being disposable through each opening and into each receiver opening.

2 . The junction box of claim 1 , wherein the joint is located closer to the upper edge than the lower edge.

3 . The junction box of claim 1 , wherein the flashing and the housing are a single, unibody piece.

4 . The junction box of claim 1 , wherein:

the upper edge and the lower edge are parallel; and

the first lateral edge and the second lateral edge are parallel.

5 . The junction box of claim 1 , wherein:

the first sidewall is non-parallel to the first axis and the second axis; and

the second sidewall is non-parallel to the first axis and the second axis.

6 . A junction box comprising: a flashing including: a first edge, a second edge opposite the first edge, a third edge disposed between the first edge and the second edge, and a fourth edge disposed between the first edge and the second edge; a housing including: a plurality of sidewalls that form a plurality of intersections, wherein: a first sidewall of the plurality of sidewalls is non-parallel and non-perpendicular to the first edge, the second edge, the third edge, and the fourth edge; and a second sidewall of the plurality of sidewalls is non-parallel and non-perpendicular to the first edge, the second edge, the third edge, and the fourth edge, and a plurality of receiver openings, wherein individual receiver openings are disposed at individual intersections of the plurality of intersections; and a lid including openings, wherein individual openings are concentric with one of the individual receiver openings.

The junction box of claim 6 , wherein: the junction box includes: a first axis, and a second axis disposed perpendicular to the first axis; the plurality of intersections includes a first intersection formed by the first sidewall and the second sidewall; the first intersection is located on the first axis; and the first intersection is spaced apart from the second axis.

8 . The junction box of claim 7 , wherein:

the first axis is disposed in a direction between the first edge and the second edge;

the first axis is disposed equidistantly between the third edge and the fourth edge;

the second axis is disposed in a direction between the third edge and the fourth edge; and

the second axis is disposed equidistantly between the first edge and the second edge.

9 . The junction box of claim 7 , wherein the first intersection is located closer to the first edge than the second edge.

10 . The junction box of claim 6 , wherein the housing includes an interior space to receive one or more electrical connections.

11 . The junction box of claim 6 , wherein the housing includes a bottom portion having one or more indicia associated with penetrations into a surface.

12 . A junction box comprising:

a flashing;

a housing including:

one or more sidewalls, the one or more sidewalls including at least a first sidewall and a second sidewall arranged non-parallel and non-orthogonal relative to edges of the flashing,

a surface spaced apart from and being planar with the flashing, the surface defined by the one or more sidewalls, and

one or more receiver openings disposed on the surface, the one or more receiver openings including a first receiver opening disposed proximate to an intersection of the first sidewall and the second sidewall; and

a lid attachable to the housing, the lid including one or more openings, individual openings of the one or more openings being concentric with one of the one or more receiver openings.

13 . The junction box of claim 12 , wherein:

the junction box includes:

a central longitudinal axis, and

a central lateral axis arranged perpendicular to the central longitudinal axis;

the intersection is disposed on the central longitudinal axis; and

the intersection is spaced apart from the central lateral axis.

14 . The junction box of claim 12 , wherein:

the edges of the flashing include:

a first edge,

a second edge opposite the first edge,

a third edge disposed between the first edge and the second edge, and

a fourth edge disposed between the first edge and the second edge;

the intersection is located more proximate to the first edge than the second edge; and

the intersection is disposed equidistantly between the third edge and the fourth edge.

15 . The junction box of claim 12 , further comprising fasteners, wherein individual fasteners are disposable through individual openings and into individual receiver openings to attach the lid to the housing.

16 . The junction box of claim 12 , wherein the one or more sidewalls form an interior cavity.

17 . The junction box of claim 12 , wherein the one or more sidewalls include:

a third sidewall, and

a fourth sidewall arranged perpendicular to the third sidewall.

18 . The junction box of claim 12 , wherein the one or more receiver openings are disposed at intersections of the one or more sidewalls, respectively.

19 . The junction box of claim 12 , wherein the housing includes a bottom portion having one or more indicia associated with penetrations into a surface.
