Abstract

Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture to update audio sensor configuration are disclosed. An example apparatus includes at least one memory, instructions in the apparatus, and processor circuitry to execute the instructions to: in response to detection of an update to audio sensor configuration, identify a plurality of potential audio sensor configurations to be used to receive audio, select respective ones of the identified potential audio sensor configurations for testing, determine signal-to-noise ratios corresponding to each of the selected ones of the potential audio sensor configurations, select the greatest signal-to-noise ratio of the signal-to-noise ratios, compare the greatest signal-to-noise ratio value and a noise ratio change threshold, and in response to the selected greatest signal-to-noise ratio value exceeding the noise ratio change threshold, update a configuration memory to cause use of the potential audio sensor configuration corresponding to the selected greatest signal-to-noise ratio.

Claims (18)

1 . A media monitoring meter comprising:

a housing having a plurality of audio sensors;

interface circuitry;

machine readable instructions; and

programmable circuitry to at least one of instantiate or execute the machine readable instructions to:

in response to detection of an update to audio sensor configuration, identify a plurality of potential audio sensor configurations of the audio sensors to be used to receive audio;

update configuration memory with an identified audio sensor configuration; and

determine an audio signal input, the audio signal input provided by the audio sensors arranged in the identified audio sensor configuration, wherein the programmable circuitry uses a bit error rate corresponding to the audio signal input to determine a strength of a detected watermark.

2 . The media monitoring meter of claim 1 , further including a display, the display to confirm a presence of a panelist present in a media presentation environment.

3 . The media monitoring meter of claim 1 , wherein a first one of the audio sensors is a line input connection to a media presentation device.

4 . The media monitoring meter of claim 1 , wherein the programmable circuitry uses a volume level corresponding to the audio signal input to determine a strength of a detected watermark.

5 . The media monitoring meter of claim 1 , wherein the programmable circuitry combines at least two of (i) a bit error rate corresponding to the audio signal input, (ii) a volume level corresponding to the audio signal input, and (iii) a signal-to-noise ratio corresponding to the audio signal input to determine a strength of a detected watermark.

6 . The media monitoring meter of claim 1 , wherein a respective one of the audio sensors is spaced from another respective one of the audio sensors.

7 . The media monitoring meter of claim 1 , further including a battery, the battery being rechargeable based on receiving power from a media presentation device.

8 . The media monitoring meter of claim 1 , further including a universal serial bus (USB) port to connect to a power source.

9 . The media monitoring meter of claim 1 , wherein the first opening and the second opening are symmetrically aligned on the first portion of the housing.

10 . The media monitoring meter of claim 1 , further including a configuration interface, the configuration interface to interrogate a media presentation device to identify an audio speaker configuration, the audio speaker configuration based on a connection and location of at least one of a front facing speaker, a rear facing speaker, or a sub-woofer.

11 . The media monitoring meter of claim 10 , wherein the programmable circuitry is to select the identified audio sensor configuration based on the audio speaker configuration.
