Cell selection for positioning based on crowdsourcing
Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) decodes a first system information block (SIB) transmitted by a first cell to determine whether the first cell transmits a second SIB, decodes the second SIB based on a determination that the first cell transmits the second SIB, and reports, to a crowdsourcing server, a first set of parameters related to the second SIB transmitted by the first cell.
1 . A method of wireless communication performed by a user equipment (UE), comprising:
decoding a first system information block (SIB) transmitted by a first cell to determine whether the first cell transmits a second SIB;
decoding the second SIB based on a determination that the first cell transmits the second SIB, wherein the second SIB is a positioning SIB (posSIB); and
reporting, to a crowdsourcing server, a first set of parameters related to the second SIB transmitted by the first cell.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first set of parameters comprises:
a flag indicating that the first cell transmits the second SIB,
a periodicity of transmission of the second SIB,
a type of assistance data provided by the second SIB,
a subscription of the UE associated with the first cell,
a location of a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) reference station indicated in the second SIB,
reliability statistics for the first cell,
an amount of ON-time of the first cell, or
any combination thereof.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the type of assistance data provided by the second SIB comprises:
GNSS assistance data,
real-time kinematic (RTK) correction assistance data,
observed time difference of arrival (OTDOA) assistance data,
downlink angle of departure assistance data, or
any combination thereof.
4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
decoding the first SIB transmitted by a second cell to determine whether the second cell transmits the second SIB;
decoding the second SIB transmitted by the second cell based on a determination that the second cell transmits the second SIB; and
reporting, to the crowdsourcing server, a second set of parameters related to the second SIB transmitted by the second cell.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first SIB is a SIB1.
6 . A user equipment (UE), comprising:
one or more memories;
one or more transceivers; and
one or more processors communicatively coupled to the one or more memories and the one or more transceivers, the one or more processors, either alone or in combination, configured to:
decode a first system information block (SIB) transmitted by a first cell to determine whether the first cell transmits a second SIB;
decode the second SIB based on a determination that the first cell transmits the second SIB, wherein the second SIB is a positioning SIB (posSIB); and
report, via the one or more transceivers, to a crowdsourcing server, a first set of parameters related to the second SIB transmitted by the first cell.
7 . The UE of claim 6 , wherein the first set of parameters comprises:
a flag indicating that the first cell transmits the second SIB,
a periodicity of transmission of the second SIB,
a type of assistance data provided by the second SIB,
a subscription of the UE associated with the first cell,
a location of a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) reference station indicated in the second SIB,
reliability statistics for the first cell,
an amount of ON-time of the first cell, or
any combination thereof.
8 . The UE of claim 7 , wherein the type of assistance data provided by the second SIB comprises:
GNSS assistance data,
real-time kinematic (RTK) correction assistance data,
observed time difference of arrival (OTDOA) assistance data,
downlink angle of departure assistance data, or
any combination thereof.
9 . The UE of claim 6 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to:
decode the first SIB transmitted by a second cell to determine whether the second cell transmits the second SIB;
decode the second SIB transmitted by the second cell based on a determination that the second cell transmits the second SIB; and
report, via the one or more transceivers, to the crowdsourcing server, a second set of parameters related to the second SIB transmitted by the second cell.
