Reusable cartridge systems, devices, and methods
Formulation delivery systems, formulation delivery devices, and formulation cartridges for the same are provided. Formulation delivery systems include a reusable handle, a formulation dispensing assembly, and a controller. The formulation dispensing assembly includes a reciprocating nozzle assembly and a pump. The reciprocating nozzle assembly is fluidically-coupleable to the formulation cartridge or the cleaning cartridge received within the reusable handle. Formulation delivery devices include a reusable handle configured to receive a formulation cartridge therein, and a formulation dispensing assembly disposed in the reusable handle. The formulation dispensing assembly includes fluid conduits, a pump fluidically connected to the fluid conduits, a reciprocating nozzle assembly, and a controller. Operating parameters of the formulation delivery systems are varied based upon inputs corresponding to one or more formulations stored in the formulation cartridge.
1 . A formulation delivery device, comprising:
a reusable handle configured to receive a formulation cartridge storing a first and a second formulation packet, wherein the reusable handle is generally cylindrical with an opening at a rear end;
a formulation dispensing assembly disposed in the reusable handle at a forward end, the formulation dispensing assembly comprising:
a first fluid conduit configured to fluidically connect with the first formulation packet;
a second fluid conduit configured to fluidically connect with the second formulation packet, wherein the first and the second fluid conduits are sized relative to each other to create a predetermined component ratio of the first formulation to the second formulation;
a pump fluidically connected to the first and the second fluid conduit;
a nozzle assembly fluidically connected to the first and the second fluid conduit and the pump;
a turbulent mixing chamber positioned adjacent to the nozzle assembly, the turbulent mixing chamber includes at least one helical mixer having a total length between 20 mm to 40 mm and an outside diameter between 2 mm to 5 mm; and
a controller disposed in the reusable handle, wherein the controller comprises logic, which when executed, causes the pump to pump the first and the second formulation through the nozzle assembly at a plurality of flow rates, and
the formulation cartridge is partially inserted within the rear opening of the reusable handle, the formulation cartridge includes a rear handle portion and a forward refill unit containing the first and second formulation packets, wherein the refill unit is contained with the reusable handle and the rear handle portion extending from the rear of the reusable handle and opposite from the formulation dispensing assembly.
2 . The formulation delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the logic causes the pump to pump the first and the second formulation through the nozzle assembly at the plurality of flow rates by modulating a speed of the pump.
3 . The formulation delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the logic causes the pump to pump the first and the second formulation through the nozzle assembly at the plurality of flow rates based upon an authentication of the formulation cartridge.

The formulation delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the logic causes the pump to pump the first and the second formulation through the nozzle assembly at the plurality of flow rates based upon an input on at least one of the reusable handle or an application communicatively connected to the controller.
5 . The formulation delivery device of claim 1 , further comprising an authentication interface wherein, the formulation delivery device is configured to provide the authentication of the formulation cartridge to the controller.
6 . The formulation delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the logic causes the pump to pump the first and the second formulation through the nozzle assembly at the plurality of flow rates based upon one or more inputs indicative of a foam attribute of the first or the second formulation.
7 . The formulation delivery device of claim 6 , wherein the foam attribute is selected from a group consisting of: a foam density, a foam duration, a foam longevity, and a foam volume.
8 . The formulation delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the logic causes the pump to pump the first and the second formulation through the nozzle assembly at the plurality of flow rates based upon one or more inputs indicative of a viscosity of the first or the second formulation.
9 . The formulation delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the logic causes the pump to pump the first and the second formulation through the nozzle assembly at the plurality of flow rates based upon one or more inputs indicative of a shear rate of the first or the second formulation.
10 . The formulation delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the logic causes the pump to pump the first and the second formulation through the nozzle assembly at the plurality of flow rates based upon one or more first inputs indicative of a viscosity of the first or the second formulation and one or more second inputs indicative of a shear rate of the first or the second formulation.
11 . The formulation delivery device of claim 1 ,
wherein the nozzle assembly is a reciprocating nozzle assembly,
wherein the controller further comprises logic, which when executed, varies a reciprocating frequency of the reciprocating nozzle assembly.
12 . The formulation delivery device of claim 11 , wherein the logic varies the reciprocating frequency of the reciprocating nozzle assembly based upon one or more inputs indicative of a scalp sensitivity.
13 . The formulation delivery device of claim 11 , wherein the logic varies the reciprocating frequency of the reciprocating nozzle assembly based upon one or more inputs indicative of a change in an inertial property of the formulation dispensing assembly.
14 . The formulation delivery device of claim 11 , wherein the logic varies the reciprocating frequency of the reciprocating nozzle assembly based upon an authentication of the formulation cartridge.
15 . The formulation delivery device of claim 11 , wherein the logic varies the reciprocating frequency of the reciprocating nozzle assembly based upon a user input on at least one of the reusable handle or an application communicatively connected to the controller.
16 . The formulation delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the first fluid conduit has a different diameter than the second fluid conduit.
