Abstract

A propulsion strengthening member attached to a surface of an object existing in outer space, the propulsion strengthening member includes: a transparent member that transmits an emitted laser; and an opaque member that is provided between the transparent member and the object and absorbs the laser such that at least a part thereof is evaporated by energy of the laser.

Claims (24)

1 . A method comprising:

(a) attaching a propulsion strengthening member to a surface of an object existing in outer space, the propulsion strengthening member comprising:

a transparent member that transmits an emitted laser; and

an opaque member that is provided between the transparent member and the object and absorbs the laser such that at least a part thereof is evaporated by energy of the laser; and,

(b) irradiating the propulsion strengthening member with the laser to change an orbit and/or attitude of the object using a force generated by the evaporation of the at least a part of the opaque member.

2 . The method according to claim 1 , comprising stacking two or more transparent members and two or more opaque members alternately.

3 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the transparent member is a sheet-form member.

4 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the transparent member is a spherical member.

5 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the transparent member is formed from fluororesin.

6 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the propulsion strengthening member further comprises a protective member provided on at least one face on surfaces of the propulsion strengthening member.

7 . The method according to claim 6 , wherein the protective member has a light-blocking property for blocking sunlight.

8 . The method according to claim 6 , wherein the protective member is resistant to atomic oxygen.

9 . The method according to claim 8 , wherein at least a part of the protective member is formed from fluororesin.

10 . The method according to claim 1 , comprising applying a symbol for identifying the propulsion strengthening member to the surface of the propulsion strengthening member.

11 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the opaque member comprises acrylic containing a black material.

12 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the object is an artificial satellite, and the propulsion strengthening member is attached to the surface of the artificial satellite prior to a launch of the artificial satellite.

13 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the propulsion strengthening member is attached to the object in a strip shape on the surface of the object.

14 . A method according to claim 1 , wherein the plurality of the propulsion strengthening members are attached to the object in a strip shape, and angles of the plurality of the propulsion strengthening member are set to be modifiable.

15 . A method comprising:

(a) attaching a propulsion strengthening member to a surface of an object existing in outer space, the propulsion strengthening member comprising:

a transparent member that transmits an emitted laser; and

an opaque member that absorbs the laser such that at least a part thereof is evaporated by energy of the laser, wherein the transparent member is provided within the opaque member; and,

(b) irradiating the propulsion strengthening member with a laser to change an orbit and/or attitude of the object using a force generated by the evaporation of the at least a part of the opaque member.

16 . The method according to claim 15 , wherein the transparent member is a spherical member.
